Synopsis

Status: On hiatus indefinitely, because I'm going to be busy and the story is now at a place where it needs major reconstruction. Only twenty-six years old, the young gunslinger, Curt, believes he is falling to his death in the clouds. However, he ends up being saved by a young girl with an aptitude for magic in a world he'd only heard of in legends. Going with the flow only takes him so far, and Curt soon finds himself burdened with more responsibility than he bargained for -- including the fate of the two worlds. Detailed Synopsis: Curt is a young gunslinger from a small town called Ore Town, situated in a barren wasteland known as the Dusts. While sabotaging the gang threatening his town, Curt is forced to take a leap of faith, literally. He plunges into the sea of clouds expecting death, only to arrive in an entirely new world below the clouds. Saved by a young girl using magic, Curt isn't too sure what to make of his second chance of life. When he meets a fellow Duster who had fallen years ago, he's roped into becoming second-in-command of a brand new guild. Guild duties aren't easy, especially as Curt is tasked to recruit fighters to take on the Grand Guild Tournament, where the winning guild takes home an enormous prize pool -- and most importantly, a mysterious ticket to the fabled "Star City" that exists above the clouds. ================ Written for fun. Little to no editing/proofreading (so beware of occasional typos). Sporadic updates, but the plot is more or less at least planned out. ================ Very loosely based off/inspired by lore from the video game, Dungeon & Fighter (particularly the intro). No knowledge of the game is required, though there might be scattered references/easter eggs. https://socreecree.wordpress.com/

Now that I have 10 chapters I feel like my story deserves the classic 5-star author's review. So here's background on me and the story: I try to write a chapter every 1-3 days, but the cost of churning a chapter out at that speed is there is almost no editing and the language will be simplistic. I may come back to a chapter a day later to clean up some typos or missing words or nonsensical/unclear phrases, but I don't think I catch them all. Descriptions are going to be more straightforward than poetic, but I'm hoping the story is the true draw. I'm no professional and I'm new to writing webnovels and novels in general. I don't even write fanfiction. But I liked writing and did some writing courses in college so I've got that at least? In any case, I hope those of you that read the story (try to make it past ch. 4, that's when I think things start to really pick up!) enjoy things so far, and I hope to complete this first arc of Curt's journey and see him develop into a stronger character.
