Chapter 10 First Love

LBF Chapter 10 First Love

"Why, are you happy to see me?" The woman's eyes narrowed as she posed the question.

"Why should I? We are only acquaintances." Damien answered nonchalantly. The arrival of this woman had taken away his nostalgic feelings so he took a step, bypassed her, and continued into the distance.

"Damien Okoye! Do you think that you are some big shot? Why do you always ignore me?" The woman shouted at the top of her voice upon turning around. Being ignored had offended her, and as a result, she shouted, causing the dark matter to ripple.

"Who made it this way, hmmm?" Damien paused for a second upon hearing her question and posed one of himself, causing her expression to warp, but she failed at a retort.

He continued on his way upon finishing his piece. Every step he took, sending him countless kilometers away.

"Why are you following me?" He asked after a few seconds. She was walking just a few meters behind him.

"We are heading in the same direction. I will stick with you until the end." She answered playfully.

"Were you always this shameless?" He frowned once again.

"Yes. This time, I know what I want and am never going to let you slip away ever again." She giggled happily.

"Weren't you the one who terminated our relationship back then?" Damien turned around abruptly and asked. Rage was creeping in his voice. Miss Darkness stopped a meter from him. His crimson eyes stared into hers with such intensity that she literally felt as if she was about to be scorched into oblivion. She had no choice but to look away, lacking any words to hurl back at him.

"What did you say back then? Let me enlighten you...you said something about us being from two different worlds and that Larry, a demigod at the time was the only one qualified to be with you." Damien crossed his hands over his chest and looked at her with condescension and mockery.

Miss Darkness was the daughter of that legend of a god, she was dearly loved by him, and she never lacked any resources ever since she had been born. She was born at five strings, gods could at least ensure that their descendants weren't born any lower than that. They met at that level, but the father disagreed. He had seen many five elemental string beings stuck at that level, never making it past, so he chose Larry, a demigod at the time as her partner.

"That was in the past. Can't you please let it go?" She asked almost shedding tears.

"You...were the first woman I loved." That came out as a statement, without any emotions attached to it. The passage of time had eroded away any feelings that might have been connected. Darkness felt the lack of emotions and she felt a weight settle at the bottom of her heart.

"I was still young and naive then. Could you give me a second chance?" She implored.

"If it had been a normal break up, them probably yes, but you trampled on my pride and feelings." He answered emotionlessly.

"Could you leave me alone...this is a request from me." He asked sincerely.

"Did you fall for someone else?" She asked as if she was hoping for something.

"Does that matter?" Her expression sank at that question.

"Actually I have you to thank for my current life. If I had stuck with you, I would probably never made it to the level of a demigod."

"Right now, I want to become a God and marry many goddesses." He continued. She was the only person capable of eliciting this many words from him.

"I will be leaving for Pantheon city right away. I hope we never meet again." He said.

"But what am I supposed to do with all these feelings I have?" She shouted. His words had made her feel as if a chasm had appeared between them. She didn't want that to happen.

"I heard that you got married. I am not into the habit of playing the adultery game." He refused still.

"We...divorced."

"Oh...really!" That came out as sacarstic. He even had a grin on his face.

"Don't mock me!" She shouted with a red face.

"I found out some years into the marriage that all he wanted was to get close to my father. He didn't really love me."

"Oh! I never knew that he was ambitious. He's still trash though. He can't see the bigger picture." He insulted the man.

Most marriages in the galaxy came about as a means to tie yourself to a powerful clan, or to give birth to a child stronger or equal to you in strength.

That's why Damien felt that the guy was short sighted. He should have tried to have a child with her.

"All the times, that we were together. He couldn't stop yapping about my dad this...my dad that. It was tiresome!" She complained.

"Well...your divorce doesn't interest me." Seeing that she was bout to continue with the complaints, he turned around and continued on his way to Earth.

"Lily! So this was where you were." Another voice, apart from theirs reverberated through the void. It felt warm.

The voice caused Damien to stop in place and sigh in exasperation.

'Earth has produced four demigods in this era, why did it have to be that I became deeply involved with two of them!' His eyes narrowed. It didn't just stop there, he even developed a bit of killing intent.

A green light lit up the void in front of them and a whirlpool formed out of countless green particles popped into existence.

Damien, who was closest to it even felt his divinity jump about a little in his heart. Even the blood flowing through his veins became lively.

Some of the green particles at the outer edges of the whirlpool created various images of flora, as if they were trying to make plant life appear in this lifeless void.

'He hasn't been slacking off it seems.' He frowned.

A man walked out of the whirlpool. He was slim...the word beanpole appropriate to describe him. He had blonde short hair, blue eyes and he was dressed in such a way that he appeared to be a mage. A green crystalline wooden staff was in his hand. All he lacked was a pointy hat to complete the entire ensemble.

His blue pupils were contemptuous as they beheld Damien within them, but they instantly turned kind when they moved into Miss Darkness, real name being Lily.

"Lily my dear, how can you throw the divorce papers at me with just a tiny disagreement?" He asked patiently.

'What a shameless...' Damien shook his head before continuing his journey towards Earth.

"Larry, don't be shameless and clingy. We should end it..."

The conversation faded as he continuously put distance between them. He put the previous encounter to the back of his mind when the planet entered his eyes.
