Gates and Levels - Chapter 21

Alan starts to walk into the market. Looking left and right, some people look shady trying to talk to him, but he does not stop and just keeps walking.

At that time, he hears some people talking. The topic seemed important to him.

"So, new Gate 1 Level people have arrived. The vultures are already trying to rob them of their given Pandora credits.

A man with a full head of blonde hair speaks to his friend. His friends just smile and speak.

"In the end, they are still new, and they are here just after a survival mission." It is human nature to try to find help after that kind of experience.

The blonde man laughed a little and noticed Alan was looking at them. He smiled at Alan and then spoke.

Alan smiled and then answered.

"It is complicated." "What is the gate thing you were talking about?"

The blonde man looked at the man beside him, and the man with black hair nodded.

"Gate 1 and Gate 2." Gate 1 is the place where people with stats of 1.0 to 10.0 spend their time. "A Gate 2 contestant can come to Gate 1 market, but a Gate 1 contestant cannot go to Gate 2 market."

Alan nodded and then thanked me for the knowledge, then minded his own business.

The blonde man turns to face Alan, who is walking and asks him a question.

"Arnold, what do you think about this newcomer?"

The black-haired man named Arnold put his hand on the shoulder of his friend and laughed as he spoke.

"I don't know much about him." But one thing is clear: He is clear-minded and brave, and it seems like he is not scared or having problems being here. "Do you have any words about him, Daniel?"

A blonde man named Daniel nodded and added.

"I believe he is a soldier or some sort of shady person back on earth." "Who is most likely accustomed to living on the edge of the knife?"

"If we think like that, it is more than likely that he would have no problem feeling comfortable in here." In the end, things are not different here. "This place is a kill or be-killed world too."

Arnold nodded and looked at his wrist. A watch-like device starts to beep.

"It is about time. Let's go."

After Alan had been in the market for some time, He noticed that many people were selling weapons and magic skills from different kinds of places or mission worlds. Trinkets and jewelry give extra abilities and many other things.

He saw some modern weapons, like guns, but they were expensive, costing more than 80 credits. Most of the items, according to Alan, aren't worth the credits the seller is asking for.

After hearing the words of two men talking about the newcomers, he believes that these are experienced players and contestants that try to sell items to newcomers for a high price. Perhaps the items they advertise as important and powerful are simply commonplace items that anyone can find.

Newcomers who are scared to enter new missions despite knowing that they are getting swindled will still buy it anyway.
