1 THE EMERGENCE

The world suddenly dyed itself red, or that was what I thought as I looked around. My eyes turned morbid and managed through my surroundings, but all I could see was a deep red hue surrounding me, with a sword on my side and loads of flesh on my face. I couldn't feel anything, and no matter how much I tried, my hands weren't rising.

"What is happening? Why am I not able to see my hands? Why is the world red? Just Why?" A sharp pain rushed through my brain as I thought about these matters.

"Ragnar, the great, fallen at my feet is a sight to behold." a voice sounded beside my ear. I tried to turn my head, and suddenly, all my muscles seen to have opened up as my neck turned itself around.

A massive figure was standing not too far away. To be exact, it was the figure of something inhuman. The figure had a face, two limbs, and apparent legs, but its build was different. It looked as if its entire body was covered in some exoskeleton. For a moment, the scene didn't make any sense.

But suddenly, everything became clear. All the memories about the present flooded back in as the confusion ended once and for all.

I know what you are wondering. Who exactly is this guy? Why is he talking to himself? Why is he talking to us?

Well, to speak the truth, it was just a momentary lapse of memory serious due to my severe injuries in the last war of my life.

My name is Ragnar Lutheran. I was born into a family of superhumans who emerged right after the outbreak.

What is an outbreak?

Well, it is the same as what you have been reading in all the fantasy hunter novels till now. An outbreak can be classified as an extraterrestrial event that took place sometime in the history of humanity, changing the course of the future from that point. This extraterrestrial event can be of many forms, and hence the change it brings with it is also different in every other story. Please read all of them since they convert something from a different angle of life.

Returning to my story, I am a part of the human species since I don't know or care about any other species. The planet it all begins in is also earth, because why change that? Our planet, as we know, is part of a solar system which is then part of a galaxy and then the universe, and then the design of universes. Well, don't use that logic here. This is a story. A story of how I rose, fell, and then might fall again. Just enjoy the ride.

Well, the extraterrestrial event I was talking about was a gate that appeared in the skies of the world. Which country, you may ask? It doesn't matter. It appears on the skies of the world as a whole. A specific government wouldn't set this up in a different way.

Now when I say the gate, I mean portals. Giant wormhole, spherical and shiny, floating where a human can enter and exit at another place. Now since the gate appeared, so will the monster. So they did. An attack happened, and overnight almost every works government fell. When I say lost, it means that demons couldn't be handled and started destroying the world around them. Once people die, so does the government.

Now, like every other story, since disaster appeared, so did the heroes. People, or humans, to be a bit more general, began to experience what you can categorize as a mutation, but people call awakening, realization, transformation, metamorphosis, and all that shit. The baseline is that they got power. The power previously unimaginable for a person to possess now became available to some chosen ones. As responsibility followed by an incredible passion follows significant influence, they begin to try and stop the destruction of their world.

The number increased, and they managed to kill the monsters, but soon enough, they understood that their numbers were still too small. What they didn't know then was that the gate, which was the path for monsters to appear, was also the cause of the mutation.

Now that heroes have appeared, they need to team up and fight for humanity's survival. So they did. They started to form groups, sects, powers, and organizations, which soon evolved into families of hunters and so on. These heroes first proclaimed the land they had lost from the monsters. This came to the end of the first great cataclysm.

But once all the minsters were eradicated, people's attention started to drift towards the portal, which was the source of everything. The portal, which marked the start of humanity's destruction, soon became a matter of discussion until the hunter organization started scouting them.

Well, this led to two significant discoveries. The first one was the presence of dungeons and the second one was the presence of cracks, wormholes, or portals to another world altogether. Dungeons, as you all know are a te, sting grounds where people can enter and hunt a limited amount of varied types of monsters and significantly gain drops, corpses, minerals, resources, and rewards. The engineering and scientific application of these monsters and their remains was proliferating. Once the dungeons were clouded, well science developed even better. People started to form a ground clear more and more dungeons to gain more rewards.

But the reason for the following significant change was the presence of portals to another world or cracks as we call it. While a dungeon only had limited monsters, a crack was a direct gateway to enter an entirely different world. Each world had its geography, de mineral composition, it's geographical composition, and it's scientific rules. They were two-way gates for humans and what lay on the other side to interact with each other's world.

Humanity soon understood that either they needed to capture the other world or their world would face disaster. That was the beginning of world exploration teams and interdimensional organizations and trade? Humans started to enter cracks in massive numbers, kill the netizens or enslave them and gain resources from other worlds.

That started the second significant change. The world was introduced to a multi-species existence.

I for one, am the result of such a significant change.
