4 Inside Gringotts

June 1994

Gringotts Wizarding Bank

With a pop Harry and Dobby arrived at the entrance of the wizarding bank.

"Dobby you can go for now. Next time I call you, come and immediately take me back," Harry said seriously.

Dobby nodded in understanding and with another pop he was gone.

With his weird appearance, wearing an oversized sweatshirt and hood covered face, Harry looked out of place but he ignored few of those glances in his direction and approached one of the Goblin teller engaged in his work at the counter.

"Hello I was wondering if I can get some help from the help Goblins," Harry asked politely.

The teller raised his head and snorted, "We do not help wizard. We do business for gold."

Harry felt amused, "Then can we discuss a business proposition?"

The teller nodded and stared at Harry to continue, though he could still not see Harry's face due the large hood of the sweatshirt covering it.

"Can we discuss this somewhere private?" Questioned Harry.

The teller grunted in annoyance, "This better be worth wizard." And stood up gesturing Harry to follow behind.

Harry quietly walked behind the Goblin teller and arrived in a room with two chairs in the middle.

The Goblin took his seat on one of the chairs which was made to suit the needs of a Goblin and indicated Harry to take the other empty chair obviously designed for a human.

Taking his seat Harry removed the hood, "Hello I am Harry Potter and you are Mr?"

The Goblin teller was stunned for two reasons. Firstly, he did never expect that the masked and small looking the underaged wizard would be the one of the most famous wizards of the wizarding society and secondly, with the respect Harry conducted himself and asked his name.

The Goblin added, "Runook," completing the introduction.

Before Harry could say anything Runook continued, "Mr. Potter I believe I am not the correct Goblin to deal with you. You can wait in the room while I inform the manager of Potter accounts of your information."

Although Harry was not very certain of what Potter accounts meant, he had a vague idea and considered this all to be one of the information hidden from him by Dumbledore.

Harry instantly replied, "Mr. Runook I am afraid I am not here to deal with Potter accounts. At least not this time. I need some other kind of help."

By the time Harry finished, Runook was already on his legs, "So be it Mr. Potter but even so your account manager would be the best Goblin to deal with whatever issues you have."

With this Runook was gone and Harry waited in the room alone.

It was almost after 5 minutes later that the gates of the room creaked open and walked inside an old appearing Goblin.

The Goblin even before taking his seat sighed, "Thank God you finally came Mr. Potter. I have been desperate to meet you."

Harry did not quite understand the reference and raised his eyebrows, "What do you mean desperate to meet me?" And then he added, "At least introduce yourself first."

The old Goblin was also surprised on being asked for an introduction but kept his expression in control, "I am Sharptooth, the manager of Potter accounts."

He then continued, "I have sent you 9 letters requesting your presence in the Gringotts bank in last three years, 3 letters per year and yet after your first visit in your first year you never came back."

Still not understanding anything, Harry muttered, "I never received any letter and why would you want to meet me Mr. Sharptooth?"

Sharptooth was taken aback at the response and bellowed in anger, "You say Mr. Potter that someone intercepted our letters to you?"

Harry replied, "I never received any letter so this is the most probable case. Is this about my trust vault?"

Sharptooth flared up, "No why would I bother with change coins? You don't know anything about your family? The potter family?"

Harry shook his head in denial.

Sharptooth was beyond angry now but Harry cut him off, "Look Mr. Sharptooth I understand things have not worked the way they should have and trust me I also have recently started to found out how people have been playing with me but these are issues which I will deal later. Although I have a vague understanding about what business you may have with me, I myself am unaware of many things. So we can probably delay this for some time during which I accumulate the proper knowledge."

Harry continued, "I came here with an urgent business and I hope that Gringotts would help me with, for a fees of course."

Sharptooth nodded, "Tell me what do you need Mr. Potter."

Harry sighed, "I have a magical binding placed on me about which I found out about only recently."

Harry was not even finished before Sharptooth was on his feet and screamed, "Someone have placed a magical binding on you? That entails death of that person."

Harry was taken aback by Sharptooth's anger, not understanding the reason behind it but he did not consider it much.

"Was its Dumbledore?" Questioned Sharptooth.

Harry was surprised at the Sharptooth's guess, "I believe so but I cannot prove anything."

Sharptooth now in control of his anger and back in his seat growled, "Always knew that old git was up to no good. For years after your parents demise, he has been trying to get his hands on the potter family wealth and heirlooms citing himself as your magical guardian. But thanks to your ancestor's brain and ideas he never got anything major. All he could siphon off was few hundred thousand gold coins which can still be recovered."

He continued, "But as you said these are issues which should dealt in relaxation. Getting your binding removed should be the priority now."

Harry nodded.

Sharptooth then took a parchment and scribbled hastily something on it and struck a bell on the table.

Runook who was waiting just outside immediately came inside and took the parchment from Sharptooth without speaking a word and immediately ran off to deliver it.
