Chapter 6

After hearing the good news from Sam, Sarah couldn't wait to tell Tyler the narrative. She was too eager to share this news with her despite the fact that she has yet to solve the mystery of his disappearance for a whole year. As she got out of the elevator she rushed towards her apartment and opened the door with the key she had been holding in her hands, with a smile playing on her lips.

As soon as she entered the flat, she felt the lights were off. 'Tyler isn't home yet?' Tyler had already told her that she would come back early from the hospital. She wasn't doing the night shift this time. And whenever she was home every inch of the place would be lit with different lights.

'Why didn't she come? Did something come up?'She tilted her head in confusion and turned the lights on, before closing the door. Besides the one white light, red and blue lights shone in the empty hallway. Sarah smiled. Tyler liked fairy lights. She had decorated the hallway with them along with some pictures of both of them together. The colors compliment each other.

Her feet hurt really bad due to the heels that she wore. She wasn't accustomed to wearing heels, she wore them anyway, she was a businesswoman after all. She shrugged her shoulders, a smirk appeared on her face and when she looked down at her feet, a white Turkish angora cat was rubbing its fluffy body against her feet.

She screamed at the top of her lungs as she jumped away from it. She was afraid of cats. She was pinned against the wall. "Shoo! shoo!" She yelled at the pearl-colored feline before her. It flinched at the sudden outburst. The cat was coming near her, Sarah ran as fast as she could in the narrow hallway toward the living room. The cat followed her, its bright blue eyes glistening in the lights.

"Oh please don't come near me! I am begging you please!" Sarah shouted at the little kitty as if it could understand her. Sweat started pouring out of her forehead. She didn't know what to do with the stubborn feline.

Just when she knew what to do, she felt something cold against her backhead. A gun of course. She sighed.

'Not again?'

She felt someone's breath against her neck. She smelled booze. Drunk?

"Hey, love! How have you been doing?" The man tilted his head, Sarah gritted her teeth. She was already feeling dizzy because of the cat and now Zayden was also there to make her mood go bad once again.

'Just when I am in a good mood something bad happens. Is there something else I am missing? If there is then God please let me face it before I go crazy!' she thought.

"Darling what happened? Why aren't you answering me? Or are you afraid of me Or is it the cat?" He chuckled. Sarah laughed out loud and turned around to face him.

"Why will I be afraid of you! No, I am not! Can you hold this cat? Please, I just don't like cats!"

Zayden was dumbfounded at first. He didn't know what to think but at last, he bent down and took the cat in his hands, while holding the gun at Sarah. She grinned at him. Assured that there was nothing to worry about other than his big ass gun!

"You got me, at last, I am happy for you. How about we have a talk over a cup of tea? What do you think?" Sarah said cheerfully, despite the fact that he was practically keeping her a hostage.

"Are you crazy or what?" he yelled annoyed by the fact that she didn't give a damn about him.

"Oh am I? I don't think so! Come on! You have visited me for the first time at my new house. I have to treat you to tea or something right? A good host asks their guests for something to drink or eat, right?" She lifted one eyebrow.

"Sure." That was all Zayden had to offer in response. 'This weird lady is getting on my nerves!' He sat down on the sofa, holding the cat in his lap, stroking its fur. It purred and yawned. He smiled at its cuteness.

Sarah went into the kitchen while Zayden followed. He was still pointing the gun at her. She rolled her eyes. She searched through the cupboards and found the tea bags. She filled the kettle with water and boiled it on the stove while she waited. She started small talk.

"Hurry up! I am here to kill you and you are treating me like a guest?" Zayden voiced out his inner confusion.

"Yeah. I am a good host. I don't want to die like anybody. You know if you know?" She smirked.

"You know what? I don't understand you one bit. What do you want? Machala left me because of you!" His eyes became teary. "She was the love of my life. But you are the reason behind our divorce!"

"To be honest, she left you because you lied to her. If she knew that you were a mafia member, she wouldn't have married you. So I am not the one responsible for your divorce. You are!" She said, folding her arms before her chest.

"Truth is bitter you know!" She put the tea bags in the teacups and poured the hot water from the kettle on them. Sarah placed the teacups in a tray along with some peanut biscuits.

"You!" He gritted his teeth. Before she knew it, he was sitting at the top of her, his hands buried in her neck, an attempt to get rid of her existence one and for all. She was coughing so hard but didn't say anything. She tried to get a hold of his arm, but he was choking her too hard, despite the fact that he was drunk. For some reason, she knew It wasn't her time to die. She will be saved somehow, so she did not do anything to save herself from his clutches.

She felt his grip loosen and the weight lifted off her body before started to hear ringing sounds in her ears, her eyes were now closed, her breathing stopped. Her hands dropped down.
