'I don't agree we should dissolve the engagement.'

Those are the words that came out of my mouth. And yes I do know I was the one who suggested it to the king.

The reason why I said that is because I realize now that if there was no engagement between me and Alex then he would probably immediately marry Anastasia. If that happens then he will be king as is the agreement. Once Alex marries he will be king and the current king and I might not be able to stop whoever is trying to destroy the kingdom.

So as much as I would love to not be engaged with Alex, for now I think this is the right play.

What confused me was the face that Alex made when I said those words. For a second he looks almost relieved, but there's no way he would feel that right? He hates me after all.

But then his face changed immediately to be full of pride and he scoffed my way.

'Well I know that's what you want, always chasing after me and bothering me.'

I felt offended, I never did any of that. Did Elaine ever do that before she got engaged to him? I thought it was only after they got engaged. Well whatever. It doesn't matter what he thinks anyway.

I didn't give him the satisfaction of any reaction and just looked back at the king. I wonder what the king thinks, he's probably confused what I want at this point.

The king coughed and said, 'Well then for now you're still engaged. It's getting late now, perhaps you can escort Lady Elaine back home.'

He said that as a suggestion, one I hope Alex would reject.

'Well I don't want to, but since you asked then...'

'Well since you don't want to I'll leave on my own,' I bowed my head to the king as a sign that I'm leaving and walked out of the room with my head held high.

Alex's face was frozen which looked quite funny, I guess he was shocked that I'm not happy being stuck with him either. Hopefully he gets the message and don't bother me as much, always claiming I was in love with him.

I walked out of the palace and into my carriage heading home.

It has been such a long day and it hasn't been as successful as I want it to be. I didn't get information from Nyle, but I do know the spell used to cause the flood. I took out a piece of paper from my drawer and drew the symbol of the magic spell which was a wave of water surrounded by a circle.

I guess for now I can research on my own from the library of the Castelle mansion.

Soon enough I went to sleep ready for tomorrow.

I did not wake up well. When I sit up on my bed, I can feel my muscles straining, I guess Elaine's body was a fragile one that traveling far will result in such muscle pain. The main cause of it was due to sitting on the carriage.

Yeah I know, it was only sitting, but man was the carriage uncomfortable the whole way to the east due to the terrains.

I stretched my hand up to the ceiling and breathed in the air in my room.

Ever since that day where I first met Nyle, I wasn't able to meet him again. I would have to blame the king for that since Nyle now knows I work for the king.

For the next year I spent my time researching in the library of the Castelle house of the symbol I found on the beach that day.

It turns out it was a fairly common spell, the difference was that it was used in a much larger scale to cause the flood.

There was a knock on the door.

'Miss Elaine, it's Lisa.'

Lisa has been my personal maid since I found out Sarah pushed me or Elaine off the balcony. Through the past year I watched her closely and made sure she knows her place.

Lately she has been acting more friendly towards me, I think she thinks more highly of me than before since she knows not to mess with me after knowing what happened to Sarah.

She opened the door to the library to find me opening books about magic to figure out if there was a way to find whoever did the spell. Which I've been trying to do for the past year, but so far nothing.

'We should get ready for tomorrow.'

Yes it has been a year meaning soon I will enter Prestige Academy with Alex, Cedric and Anastasia. I wonder what will happen from now on.

Of course there is the problem that I do not have any magic so I'll probably do poorly on the tests there. Heck they might even kick me out of the Academy once they find out I have no magic.

Which would be great so I won't have to see Alex and Anastasia flirting all the time, though perhaps I'll miss Cedric. He's actually quite nice if he isn't gazing lovingly towards Anastasia all the time.

I stood up from my table and went out shopping using the money I got from the investment with the café and boutique I put my money in. So far I've gotten 100 gold coins back, so not the full investment back yet but I know from the book those two stores will become popular soon enough.

I bought purple, white, yellow dresses from Evangeline the dress maker I found. They are all fit for my time in the Academy though I don't know how long I'll stay there.

Since I won't be like the real Elaine and bully Anastasia in the Academy, I wonder how this will change the future.

Well I'm ready to find out.
