Chapter 154, The Attack

As the Chimeras attacked the city, we began our counter attack. I was taken by complete suprise by their attack. The city is covered in a mist and the sun has already begun to set. Attacking at dusk, when there's little light and using Ophiuchus and Aquarius to create a barrier around the city. Very cunning, that was Karin and the Chimeras' plan. They haven't been attacking with just their fists, they've learned to think, the battle will only get harder from now on.

"Tch. We won't be able to stop them, it's already dark!" Hiro exclaimed as he swung his sword to deflect a Chimeras' attack.

"Hyaa!" Andrew swung his scythe down on the Ursa Major infront of him. "What do we do?"

I looked up to the skies to see it cloudy and dark. No starts to shine on us nor a moon to light our path. It was the night of a new moon, our only hope of light layed in the stars and my magic.

"Buy me time!" I exclaimed to the others.

Liam, Mao, Reinhardt and Hayato each guard my side as I began the chant.

"In the skies of the now distant forest, a thousand lights are scattered in the night, the distant howls now draw near, the darkness set to engulf the little light." I chanted. "Without warning, a flash of lights shine throughout the city. Bright light, first dawn. My name is Arata!"

With my spell a light shines above the city and lights the battlefield. I summon Growth who flies ahead and I notice he has also grown. Growth, now drapped in feathers of gold, white and blue, with sapphire eyes and beautiful tail feathers that accent his gold and white wings, flies ahead and destroy all the enemy before me.

"A light spell?" Van says as I join him and we guard each other's backs.

I reach into my shadow and pull out a bow, I pull the string and fire the arrow without waiting. This bow, the Bow of Asteria is a bow that creates an arrow that will pierce my enemy without fail.

'Get me a clear shot of Karin.' I convey to the others telepathically.

'What are you planning?' Angie asked.

'I'm gonna see if I can destroy the Gem of Vainglory!' I tell them and they all agree.

This may be my only chance as Karin seems certain that she has the upperhand and isn't keeping her guard up. I pull back the bow string, I only have twelve shots as the bow can only be used twelve times each day.

My first arrow is released but I'm forced to change its trajectory when my eyes find the True Beast of Ursa Major getting to close. My second, disappears after it followed by a knife from Zhen and a bullet from Will.

"Arata, get down!" I do as Alexis's arrow flies over my head and finds it mark on the chest of the Ophiuchus behind me.

I lose my third and fourth to the Aquarius that chases after me while I run after Karin. My fifth causes the True Beast of Ursa Major, Alioth to fall to the ground, not far from me.

I'm stuck with a difficult choice. Kill him and risk Karin escaping or free Karin and let him escape. While I ponder my thoughts Sadalsuud appears before me and I have to let my sixth arrow pierce her head before she disappeared. Tch. Five remain.

'Arata, I've got a clear view of Karin.' Theo tells me. 'I can probably knock her down, what should I do?'

'Do it. I'll have Growth contain her after.' I tell him as my seventh arrow Rasalhague's chest but is taken away by Saldalsuud before I can deliver the death blow.

I go and join Theo, my eighth arrow ready and as I draw the string, my arrow flies and before she can react, Karin falls to the ground.

My ninth disappears into Alioth's chest, followed by a spear from Reinhardt and a bullet from Will silences Alioth. My tenth, sends Sadalsuud and Rasalhague fleeing. I'm left with my eleventh and twelfth which I plan to use in destroying the Gems of Sin now that I have a chance.

I go to where Karin now is, my arrow readied and find her trapped within the barrier Growth created. I'm about to fire the arrow when a knife comes my way and I dodge back. The others round me, watching the skies where the knife came from and Pierrot, Licht and Sirius descend. Behind Licht, I see Addy and Eddy, both unsure of what to to do.

"My, my, I believe I owe the Le Fleur quite a lot." Sirius smiles. "Ras, Carol, Cyon and now, Ali, four of our brothers gone. I must say, I didn't expect it."

He says tossing another knife which Ethan blocks with his shield.

"Karin, this is why I told you your plan would fail." Licht says as he held his swords. "Well, whatever, it helped me determine something."

"Le Fleur, I'll be paying back what I owe you now!" Sirius says and comes straight at me. Ethan blocks him and Ethan is throw back.

I jump back and see that Licht is helping Karin to her feet and then she smiles and prepares to attack us. Before she can, Van's sword flies tpwards her and she falls back with Licht and Pierrot. Before they can flee however, Rum attacks Pierrot seperating him from the group. Dino, Ryl and the other crests follow him while Lina and the girls take on Karin. Van and Zander deal with Licht while the others deal with the descending Chimeras. The school seems to have been left alone and as so I come to believe their target is actually me and my Braves which means they are simply improvising, noje pf this has went according to their plans.

I go full offensive on Sirius with my Fleur Regalia and Growth. I hope the others will be alright.
