Lazy Daybird

"Young master it's morning."

A cold voice broke the air like a sharp sword.

Yuuma got the chills in his sleep land and woke up to check what was going on in reality that's caused such a disturbance. He was greeted with onyx eyes that stared a hole into his back. Yuuma recognized this butler as his personal aide, Kenji.

Old Yuuma disliked Kenji to the point of targeting him and making him do unreasonable things. Fortunately, Kenji never reacted to anything the child had done and was as cold as ice. The butler also seemed to like to play with old Yuuma a lot. It was a back in forth never ending battle between seven year old and thirty year old. Yuuma felt that the old Yuuma was a bit afraid of Kenji because of his unnatural behavior and cold face, but his parents personally assigned Kenji to him so he couldn't do anything.

Yuuma slumped forward blankly and rubbed his eyes that had gotten teary from the sudden awakening.

"Good morning Kenji," Yuuma yawned.

Kenji's lip twitched when he heard the greeting from Yuuma, which he probably wasn't expecting. Old Yuuma never said greetings and would often be cranky in the morning not wanting to get up. Of course, Yuuma doesn't want to get up either but today was the first day of his new life. He has to at least have some face.

Yuuma watched as the butler left his side and came back a moment later with a set of clothes. Yuuma frowned, these clothes were fancy and not modern. He's used to wearing hoodies and shorts, clothes that are breezy and comfortable. Even so, he could only sigh as Kenji helped him into the clothing. Surprisingly it was snug on his skin and didn't feel tight at all like he expected, perfect for sleeping in.

"Young master, do you feel sick today?"

The question was weird coming from the dark force behind him but it was natural. Old Yuuma would've given a hard time to Kenji, this is probably one of the first times Yuuma was so obedient.

"I'm perfectly fine," Yuuma yawned again and lazily stretched.

Kenji blinked but said nothing as he led Yuuma out of the room. Using previous memories he knew that he would typically have breakfast with his family in the morning. His mother, father, and three siblings.

Butler and child walked down several corridors before making it to a big door that was wide open. Inside was a long table with many different foods that wafted in the air making yuuma's stomach growl.

When he made it past the doors he bowed slightly and greeted the people who were Yuumas family members.

"Good morning father, mother, Ena, Ami, and Mako."

His baby sister who was almost one was Ena, his little sister was six is Ami, and his little brother who was three was Mako.

They were all brats.

It seemed it ran in the family with the only exception being the mother. Yuuma's mother was probably the only one keeping the family alive, it's unfortunate they were old fashioned and didn't allow competition between siblings to be the heir. That means since Yuuma was born first he was the main heir unless he died it would be passed on to his sister; thankfully they aren't sexist in this world.

Yuuma stood upright and walked gracefully to his father's right side. His mother was on his father's lefts side and all the siblings on the left going down by age with the exception of Ena who was on their mother's bosom.

The room was silent after Yuuma had made his early presence.

Yuuma expected the reaction and didn't mind as he picked up the utensils and ate the eggs on his plate. Once the fluffy scrambled eggs hit his tongue he closed his eyes and savored the taste. Yuuma hadn't remembered when he had a proper breakfast and stuffed his face fast not only to get breakfast over with quicker but so he can go to the library and read up on this world. After that, he would sleep.

As he ate someone cleared their throat garnering everyone's attention.

"Yuuma are you ready to take the entrance exam?"

Yuuma almost choked on his breakfast. His father looked at him with expectant eyes before his mother coughed slightly taking a sip of water.

"If you aren't confident mom can get you some special help," his mother smiled with a sickly grin feeding his little sister a bottle.

Yuuma grimaced at his mother and patted his chest to get the food to go down the right pipe. He took a few gulps of water before relaxing into the chair with a blank expression adorning his face.

"No thank you, I don't think cheap tricks will help me in any form. In fact, it may lower this family's position in the social group and could possibly destroy the family if word got out. But mother has done so many tricks that I think this family is ruined anyway, and I have to be the one to clean up the mud you smeared all over this family name. Father give me some more time and I will take the exam with my ability. I'll be excusing myself I'm going to go study now, thank you for the wonderful breakfast," Yuuma stated in a kid like manner with a small smile like he was saying something sweetly.

The room was stunned into silence again.

Ena looked at the back of her big brother and sucked the bottle on her lips.

Ami looked at the back of her big brother and was perplexed.

Mako looked at the back of his big brother and sucked his thumb.

Their mother looked at the back of her son with astonishment.

Their father looked at the back of his son with bewilderment.

The two parents were puzzled at first but after digesting Yuuma's words they felt anger. The little siblings were too small and didn't know what was going on. The maids and butlers around were stricken to the floor with wide agape mouths and eyes.

'Did the sun rise from the west this morning!?' They all thought.

Yuuma felt disgusted at this family. He didn't think of any of these people as his real family members anyway, he wasn't Yuuma Oxblood there is no need to act like him. There wasn't a need to treat his family with respect because they didn't deserve it.

That's right, his family is still thriving because of their illegal activity. His mother was a master manipulator and schemer often putting words in old Yuuma's head. Making him hate the other noble families and be so arrogant. Yuuma didn't want to bother with such nasty people the only thing he would bother with is to save the poor children living under their lying words. Even if their brats now, they can mature with the help of Yuuma.

But Yuuma is lazy.

With a yawn his footsteps echoed in the big corridor, he may fall asleep before he even makes it to the library. Yuuma's eyes lulled down and his walking became messy. Sometimes he would be walking straight other times he would almost hit the wall because he wasn't looking. He felt full and warm from breakfast and the silent almost serene air felt perfect for a nap.

Just when he felt like giving the floor a big hug hands wrapped around Yuumas hips. Yuuma tiredly looked at the person behind him, it was Kenji the scary man.

Unlike old Yuuma, he was very suspicious of this butler. he had an inkling that this butler had many secrets.

"Young master, are you sure you aren't ill?" There it is the cold voice with the equally cold scorching face that showed no care whatsoever yet acted in worry. This was his job after all.

Yuuma huffed but quite liked being held by the butler and spoke lightly, "take me to the library."

The butler froze for a moment before agreeing and carrying Yuuma all the way to the library. When the wood door opened with a creak Yuuma woke up from his short nap. Dust hit his face making him cough and spread his hands in a waving motion. When the air cleared up Yuuma saw the library looked like it had never been opened.

Yuuma got the butler to put him down and he patted down his clothing going into thought. If he remembered correctly old Yuuma has never been to the library and has never seen it. He guessed no one ever used it either. All Yuuma knew were the basics from a seven year old brain, no way would he trust everything this kid ever learned.

"Bring me some snacks please and thank you," Yuuma ordered the butler and started towards the windows. The butler left and Yuuma got a wooden chair and began lifting the windows up with all his strength. Rusty sounds came from the old windows but he managed to get all of them open six minutes later and snacks came just on time. Yuuma wiped his forehead after the exertion and lifted the round metal bowl that contained snacks beneath.

Dried Salty fish jerky and milk filled his vision.

This was perfect for snacking on to keep himself awake while reading. Yuuma delightedly grabbed a piece and chewed the meat.

Yuuma made eye contact with the cold butler and grinned cheekily with playful eyes he left the dish to go get books to study. The butler narrowed his eyes, his lip twitched, and no one knew what turmoil the butler was experiencing at that moment. Yuuma knew he had purposely gotten these snacks because old Yuuma didn't like anything he considered peasant food. The milk was because old Yuuma thought it was only for babies and would refuse it wholeheartedly. Maybe the butler did it to get a reaction out of Yuuma because he had been acting oddly today.

Yet Yuuma just playfully grinned at the butler like he understood everything he was trying to do as if he had seen through Kenji. The butler felt he had been played by a seven year old even if he knew that shouldn't be the case.
