1 Prologue

Aizawa Shota is a new hero. Right after graduating from the prestigious hero school, UA, he had decided to immediately become a hero. So, he started. Aizawa was never one to enjoy the spotlight, instead opting for the more discreet type of hero work. So, for the past year or so, he had only ever worked at night, hunting down various villains sneakily and using his quirk, which was more suited for ambushes than face to face confrontation, to incapacitate and capture the villains before they even knew what was happening.

During the day, he mostly slept. After all, he was a strictly nocturnal hero, so he didn't really sleep, even when everyone else was in bed.

Aizawa was currently tracking a particularly annoying villain. The man had a mind-controlling quirk with which he could easily control anyone he wanted completely. That is what made him so annoying, since he never committed any crimes in person, instead controlling others to do it for him, no one had gotten a good look at his face, until a few weeks ago.

Aizawa was currently in the process of tracking him down, and he was getting close. He has been following a lead from one of the victims of the man's mind control, apparently he had to stare into someone's eyes for ten seconds to take over their mind, and when he had done so to the latest victim, the victim had gotten a good look at his face.

Aizawa had the picture that was drawn by the police when they had interrogated the victim. It looked to be a man in his thirties, with circular glasses on his face and sunken cheeks. Most mind- related quirk users were not physically strong, after all, you don't really need to use your body to control others, only your mind.

So, for the past two weeks Aizawa has been following various sightings of the man, and tonight was the night he would finally catch him. The dry- eyed hero was jumping and swinging from rooftop to rooftop, chasing a man that was winding his way through the alleyways. He had just caught the man's latest victim, and had spotted him amongst the crowd.

Aizawa jumped high into the air, swinging his reinforced scarf straight at

the running man, using his quirk to erase the man's quirk while he did so. The scarf wrapped around the man's head, blocking his eyes from view and causing him to fall right on his ass.

Aizawa shot forward, removing his scarf and slamming a special helmet on the man's head that blocked his sight. He had this made when he found out the man's quirk so that when he handed him over to the authorities the man wouldn't be able to mind control the cops into letting him escape.

"Fuck!" The man screamed as he tried and failed to escape. This reaction drew a rare smile from the ninja- like hero. "Time to take you in." He muttered to himself as he slung the man over his shoulder and started walking back towards the main streets, calling the cops on the way so they could pick the mind-control user up and take him into custody.

After dropping the man off, Aizawa started heading home, ready to celebrate the capture of a man he had been chasing for the past month or so with some sleep, sleep, and more sleep. 'I love sleep…' He thought to himself as he jumped on top of a building and started heading towards his apartment.

Aizawa kept thinking about sleep on the way home. However he was torn from his thoughts about sweet, sweet sleep when something caught his eye on a nearby rooftop. He swung over and picked up… a kid. The brat looked to be around a year old, and he had been laying on a pillow, in the middle of the night, on a roof.

"I'm too old for this…" Aizawa muttered to himself, holding the child at arms-length away from him. The kid staring right back at him, not even crying. "Oi, why are you here?" Aizawa asked the kid gruffly, wondering silently why someone so young was so quiet. Most babies would be screaming right about now.

In response the baby attempted to shrug it's shoulders, although that failed since that is where Aizawa was holding him from. Aizawa stared straight into the kid's sleepy eyes. 'I'm gonna regret this…' He thought to himself as he brought the child to his chest and started heading home again. 'At least he's quiet.' He thought to himself, smirking slightly.

Aizawa suddenly heard something move behind him, and immediately was on high alert, whipping around with his quirk already activated. What he saw surprised him slightly. The pillow that the kid had been lying on was following him, floating quickly through the air as it chased him.

'I knew I was going to regret this…' He thought as he turned back around and once again started heading home, already regretting his decision of picking up this brat as the super-pillow chased after him.

—A Year Later—

Well, quite a few things have changed in Aizawa's life since that night he took this kid home. For one, he had, regrettably, gotten quite attached to the little brat. The kid, who Aizawa had found out was about thirteen months old, was quiet. Only letting out small noises whenever it needed to be fed. It also shared Aizawa's love for sleep, which he could appreciate.

That is why, around six months ago, he had decided to adopt the little squirt, so now Aizawa was a father. Although, he soon regretted this decision, and this would definitely not be the last time he did, oh no, he would regret it for many years to come… He could feel it.

Before adopting the kid, Aizawa had taken him into the authorities to see if there was any information on him. Apparently, there was nothing recorded about this kid at all. No birth certificate or sighting. It's almost like he just popped out of thin

air. So, Aizawa quickly fixed that, becoming his father legally and, in a way, physically too. At least, that's what it said on the kids file. Although Aizawa doubted anyone that knew him would believe that he actually fathered a son.

Rein Shota. That was his name. Aizawa just felt like that would fit. The kid had a lot of mysteries that truly perplexed both the authorities and the hero, but the main one was that damn pillow. It followed the kid EVERYWHERE. And if someone tried to touch it, it would fly away. Aizawa remembered the funny scene where a doctor had tried to touch the pillow when Aizawa had taken Rein in for a physical examination.

The man couldn't even get close to touching it. Aizawa himself had tried, and failed to catch the damn sack of feathers, but it was impossible. The only person that the damn thing touched was Rein himself. It followed him everywhere, and tried to be in contact with him as much as it could.

They had checked the kid for a quirk. He would have one, it just hadn't awakened yet. The doctors speculated that the pillow might be related to it but Aizawa wasn't so sure.

One thing that thoroughly confused both Aizawa and the doctors (besides the pillow), was Rein's nationality. He looked to be more Egyptian than anything else, with dark, tanned skin and a full head of thick black hair with golden tips. Another odd thing about him was that the kid had these perpetual bags under his eyes, much like Aizawa's except they weren't from exhaustion, but seemed to just be… there. The eyes themselves were golden, it was a unique color that was actually quite cool. Of course, Aizawa never said that out loud.

Though Rein Shota was a mystery to Aizawa in every way, shape, and form, and confused the nighttime hero to no end, the kid was nice and quiet, and slept almost as much as Aizawa himself. The kid truly reminded Aizawa of himself in a few ways, and after much thinking, the fact that he didn't make much noise made him perhaps one of very few children that wouldn't give Aizawa brain cancer. Therefore, he had decided to keep the child and raise him.

Hopefully, he could become like his father and be a great hero. At least, that's what Aizawa was hoping for. Little did Aizawa know that in a few years this kid he picked up randomly and adopted would become one of the largest headaches that he would ever know when his quirk awakened.
