CHAPTER 4: ACCIDENT

We still have 30 minutes before my next period bell rings. I have one more subject this afternoon today before heading home.

We were inside the cafeteria for lunch and I saw Cindy with Vince. I did not see Callie anywhere inside the cafeteria. I do not know why all of the sudden. I am searching my eyes on her.

It is not me and I always see her in the school ground these past years. Why now?

"I am going for a walk. I will see you guys later." I told my friends and stood up before they begin to ask me where I am going. I do not know where am I going anyway but I let my feet do the walking.

My feet ended up in a garden that most students are not fond of staying there. It was another side of the building. It was quiet and has fresh air due to the trees and flowers surroundings.

This garden was just small but with some benches and tables. We have another garden in the other side much bigger than this.

I came here if I want to be alone away from my friends. There are times I like to do that just lying in the bench killing the time.

As I stepped towards the garden, I saw someone sitting in the bench while putting her feet on the table. I know who it was… it is Callie Skylar Torres.

Her head was leaning back on the bench. Her eyes were close I do not know if she was taking a nap or just resting her eyes.

I did not walk away but instead I got a little closer to her. Standing behind, there was a stretch pad on her lap and I did not know she loves to draw clothes.

I slowly lean forward to her face and studied it. She has long and thick eyelashes, nice nose and… my eyes stopped to her lips. It was slightly separated with each other that I feel like I want to taste those lips.

Then her eyes suddenly opened and she quickly got up and both our forehead bumped.

"Ouch"

"F*ck"

We both mumbled. We both touched our forehead because it was definitely really hurt.

"Hey, are you alright?" I said as I walked beside her.

Her body bends down to her lap with her both hands covering her face for a while and I got worried. I could feel my pain so I definitely knew she could feel more too.

"Talk to me please" I said again in a worried voice.

I kneeled in front of her and holding her hands to raise and see her face. I gently uncovered her face and I saw a red spot in her forehead. I am sure it was the same as me even I do not see mine.

There were some small tears in her eyes.

"W-what were you doing? Why you are even here anyway staring someone?" She wondered. "It was hurt, you know."

She was not angry saying that to me but pouting her lips.

"I always go here too, sometimes if I want to be alone. I did not know you are here too in my hiding place." I replied. "I did not mean it to happen you know." I said about the accident earlier and shook my head then I touched her forehead. "Does really hurt?" I asked sitting beside her. She nodded. "Come on, let's go to the Infirmary. We both need an ice or something for this too." I said as I pointed my forehead.

She grabbed her things as I grabbed her hand then there were sparks. I ignored it. We walked towards the Infirmary building. Holding her tightly as if she will run away.

We reached the Infirmary just in time the nurse came in.

"Hi nurse." I said giving her my wonderful smile. "We need something for this." Pointing Callie's forehead. She looked at Cal and then me.

"I think I know what happened." She said shook her head. "Come on, you two."

We followed her inside. "You, two sit there and I will be right back for a moment." She was pointing to the bed inside the clinic. She left us alone while we sat together.

"I'm sorry about that and this." I apologized again to her. I do not what I was thinking back then. Why did I do that?

"It's okay, it was not that really painful anyway." Callie replied giving me her sweet smile. "I did not know you go there. I thought it was just only me loving the place."

"No, I usually go there if I want to escape from my friends. But it was my first time seeing you there too." I spoke.

"Well, it was just last year I found it actually. I got bored staying in the library during my free time when I discovered that spot." She said smiling, her eyes were looking at the floor. "It was a feeling of homey that I can do on my spare time and fresh my mind too."

"True! I feel the same feeling as you do when I want to be alone, I go there." I agreed and she looked at me, nodding.

The nurse came with two ice bags in her hands, she handed for each one of us. "Here you go for both of you." I got us both and gave one to Callie. "You two can stay here for a while and I will be right there in my table. I will be writing an excuse slip for your remaining classes this afternoon." The nurse said. "You two, can go home after the ice melts and apply again at home okay." She added and we both nodded.

We keep on chatting thing and found myself enjoying her company. I did not know that she was not really boring at all. She may be quiet and distant but once she starts talking you can easy feel like you have been friends for years.

She was so simple and humble person.
