30 Part 30 - Businesses

287 AC

(Omni POV)

We find ourselves aboard a galleon. On the biggest of all the four main sails, there was a face of a lion, which looked similar to Escanor's birthmark.

It has been a year now since Escanor started creating his businesses. And he had not held back in the slightest. He went wild on different business ideas.

The first thing he thought of was of course alcohol. As Escanor he felt a small pull to create his own beer. He was well-read in his last life and knew quite a bit of general knowledge. In school, he had once tried to create vodka as a project.

During that time he had researched quite a bit about different alcohols and also knew about Whiskey and Brandy. For now, he wanted to focus on Beer, Vodka and Whiskey. That would make his income skyrocket. Alcohol was always a safe horse to bet on in the medieval world.

And with a King that drank like a hole, he was on the safe side.

Mary, the Sin of Gluttony, helped him set up shops, breweries and the necessary distilleries to start with the production of his alcohol. The castle of Castamere was not really working properly.

The 7DS only used some rooms. They didn't have any rush in filling the castle with workers and servants as there was still a shortage of residents in the city to finance this.

The city in itself was coming along nicely though. When Escanor left Casterly Rock, he took all those poor sods with him that he saw on the way. He told them about the restoration of Castamere and getting them houses should they wish to follow him.

Escanor never begged or promised them things to convince people to follow him. He didn't care if they come or not. The city would soon flourish when they hear who's ruling it and making it better than it was in the past.

.

Apart from constantly constructing new houses for future residents to live in and starting to build structures for his alcohol production business, Escanor also started with other things.

He was very interested in the creation of glass. The current glass was trash for his taste. Way too milky and with too many bubbles. The Myrish could go f*ck themselves for all he cared.

But he still waited for the production of better glass. He needed enough sand for that and therefore a good trade deal with Dorne might be a good idea. However, that had to wait for now.

Next, he had already begun and finished some restaurants as he called them. He named them 'to the hungry lion'. He was quite happy with the name. He wanted to get some orderly place where people could eat and drink without getting drunk.

For those that wanted to just get drunk, he created taverns and bars. There he started to serve his Beer. He called it 'My Sweet Gluttony'. As a personal show of respect to the OG Escanor and his love. Although Mary, the current Sin of Gluttony was touched by the name.

Escanor wanted to introduce Westeros to some nice dishes like Pizza, Pasta or Spaghetti, Currywurst, Züri Gschnätzlets, Fries, Goulash, Shawarma, Dürüm and many more. Most of those are quite easy to make and nourishing as well.

To finance and make his restaurants profitable as possible, Escanor started to create fields to plant potatoes and wheat. Apart from that he created some cattle farms.

Interesting story that one. Castamere is not the best place for farming but he managed to find some space that worked. The cattle farms though ... didn't go very well. However, Escanor had an idea.

He transported many tons of dirt to the high mountains. Using his monstrous strength, Escanor broke down some of the spiky mountains and levelled them. Then he dumped all the dirt on the levelled mountains and waited for the grass to grow.

It took many months before there were signs of success. But they managed to do it with another stroke of genius from Escanor's side. Using the powers of his Sun Sun Fruit for the first time, he created many small suns that floated high in the sky. Those suns were multipurpose suns, so to speak.

They were able to both warm the environment or simply send out solar energy that nourished the crops and grass. It was an amazing power on Escanor's side that would increase the harvest from his crops over the years and also make them healthier and more nourishing.

.

Speaking of the crops we come to another way for Escanor to make money in the future. He knew that using his multipurpose suns he would eventually harvest more crops than he would need. Therefore he will be able to sell the excess wheat and potatoes to the North.

He particularly chose the North to sell his goods, because he knew that they were taken advantage of by the Reach. And he would be able to sell crops every year and in larger and larger quantities no matter whether it is winter or summer.

Being the proud man that he is he will not allow the Reach to profit and sell his harvest at a much lower price than them, gaining him the North's gratitude and the Reach's ire. And if he was lucky he could get a good fight in the future.

.

The last and final idea Escanor had ... for now, was to mine gold in Sothoryos. He was interested in going there anyway. The stories about Basilisks and other monsters intrigued him and he wanted to have a look.

The reason for his current travel on the first galleon in his armada he was going to build, was an entirely different reason. Apart from using this chance to setting up potential trade deals with Volantis or other Free Cities like Lys, Myr or the city of Braavos, Escanor wanted to deal with an old problem.

Since he had been born, Escanor had felt a pull coming from the East. That pull had gotten stronger over the years and it was now time to deal with it. He had an idea of what this pull represented but he wanted to make sure. Therefore, he boarded the galleon filled with wheat and potatoes and travelled to Essos.

.

The captain came to Escanor hurridly and said to him:

"My Lord, there is a storm coming. We might have to turn back or try to manoeuvre around it. Please tell us what you would like us to do."

Escanor looked at the sky and saw the dark clouds forming on the horizon. The winds had gotten slightly stronger in the last few minutes and it would soon start to rain.

"Hm, the weather will force us to sail around it? Who decided that?"

Standing up, Escanor addressed the captain and all the others that were currently on the deck of the galleon.

"We keep the course Captain. Tell everyone to be ready for a big wave coming from behind!"

"... a-as you wish m-my lord..."

The Captain was confused and didn't know what Escanor was talking about. There was no wave in sight from the back and he was more concerned about the storm from the front. So what was his lord planning?

Escanor walked to the front of the galleon and looked at the storm forming in the sky. He was not amused. He closed his hand and formed a fist.

He focused his power of 'Sunshine' and slowly concentrated a minuscule fraction of it to form a ball. When he felt that it was enough, he opened his hand and let the tiny ball float. Knowing the intent of its creator the miniature sun floated towards the clouds and approaching storm.

After one minute of waiting something happened. The entire sky lit up and after a second a loud explosion was heard. Enormous winds came down from the sky and riled up the sea, creating big waves.

The crew did not believe what had just occurred. Escanor had just 'poofed' the storm away, like blowing some shampoo from the top of a shampoo bath.

Seeing the big waves, the Captain managed to collect his bearings and ordered his crew to focus and watch out. The ship was not allowed to get wet as the cargo was too expensive and he would not get his full salary should some of the cargo be destroyed.

The respect the Captain and the entire crew held for Escanor after this first sailing towards Essos rose massively. It was a good thing to serve a man with such powers. And it was probably also profitable.
