you got to carry me!

(Please note: You might find this chapter a bit different from the drama as I have taken the main events from the MDZS book and the rest would be my imagination from Lan Zhan's POV. If you wish to know which parts are from the book, feel free to ask me! Njoy!!!)

Wei!!!

I quickly walk to where he is, laying on the floor, pick him up ana call his name "Wei".

He blinks a few times and smiles in pain "Lan Zhan" and slowly gets up. As we all look back at the beast, it was purely dark, hideous of a beast, with scales coverd skin, body of a tortoise and head of a snake. Its eyes glowed as the colour of autumn yet it's fangs were yellow and covered with faint blood.

"What kind of monster is this?" Someone yelled.

"Shut up" Jiang Cheng warns. The monster's head bobbed as if it could detect heat but like a snake it's eyesight was poor. Just then two vapour shoots from its nostrils and the maple leaves that were stuck to its sides were thrown away. Scared that the monster was going to attack them, Wen Chao screamed and the monster was taken aback by the sudden noise. In seconds everything became frenzy as it started attacking. With lack of weapons, we lacked proper chance of winning against it, but still, we tried our best to out do our chances.

Just then from my peripheral vision, we heard a girl scream, cowering under the attack of the iron rod which, Wen Chao's mistress was brandishing against the girl called Mian Mian, and in that second before we could save her, another body collided and the

Iron Rod sizzled against his flesh. The waft of a burnt cooked meat enveloped our senses and my heart ripped for the person who was scarred forever.

Wei.

The wound is brandished just above his heart.

His scream, his wail and his pain would be forever laden in my memory for years to come. Every single drop of tears that he shed, would be etched as a nightmare for me.

Sprinting next to him, I kick the iron rod from her hand, and the mistress is thrown away by my power and I could care less.

Wen Chao immediately screeched and called for his mistress and in the next moment they all flee the scene, leaving us behind to fend for ourselves.

With no other option but to fight back, the beast was shot by bow and arrow, but it's thick skin was impenetrable. Defeated all the young Masters felt dejected.

"What do we do?"

"Wait for our parents to find us?"

"But how would they know we're stuck here, they would think we're still studying at Qishan Wen Sect"

My light-colored eyes land on Wei who was now being supported by Jiang Cheng. A strange yet not so subtle feeling gave way inside me. Immediately after, they landed on MianMian, who followed behind them, at a loss as to what has to be done, she kept sobbing her apologies.

Wei tried his best to comfort Mian Mian, "Hey, stop crying, alright? I'm the one who was burned, not you. How about you cheer me up?" he teases her. Trying to smile she fishes out a small scented pouch and hands it over to Wei, once he takes it, she bows and leaves immediately. His eyes seek mine in question and I feign disinterest.

What could she have given him?

Jiang Cheng calls my name as he witnesses me walking close to the pool "Young Master Lan, the beast is still there, where are you going?"

Walking close to the pool, I point out "There a way to leave, there are leaves within the pool."

Wei agrees "Yes, there are no trees in here, the leaves definitely have to had come from outside. There could be a way below the water"

Jiang Cheng agrees and jumps into the water and about few minutes later, he pops out and

says "Yes there is a way out, about dozens of people at a time can escape" it is then decided that people who can't swim will pair up with people who can.

Luring the beast away, Wei drew some incantations and created a fire which the beast was attracted too. But as everything was going well and I was waiting for Wei to join the group, an ameture deciple shot an arrow intending to harm the tortoise but misses and hits Wei. He immediately starts to bleed, the smell of blood maddens the monster.

Wei!

Knowing that he's going to be attacked and unable to watch him being shredded, I push him. I take the bait on his behalf and the fangs pierce through my skin. I can feel the pressure in my bones.

What happened next, I least expected it and it definitely shocked me more. Wei broke into a sprint. Just as the head was about to shrink inside, he threw himself over, clinging to one of the teeth on its upper jaw. Wei used his full force to rip open its jaw.

"Wei, don't. Run" I yelled.

"Not without you" he exerted. My heart.

Successfully ripping open its jaw, I fell into the water and he jumped in too.

Dragging me to the shore, creating a long, sweeping wave within the pool, he squated down and threw me onto his back and began to run at once.

I blurt out, "You?"

Wei teases, "It's me! You're pleasantly surprised?"

"Put me down!" I command.

"Yes, when we reach a safe spot" he breath out.

We could still hear the screeches of the monster behind us and that made Wei shiver involuntarily. My hands snake around his shoulders and silently I try to give him some of the warmth from me.

As we cross to a safe zone, he gently places me down, looking into my eyes, he winks "Finally I got to carry you".

Shocked I retort "You!"

He grins "Alright alright" but when he looks down at his hand which was holding me, we both see it being covered by blood. His gaze widens and we both realise I am bleeding, with having broken legs, punctured wounds and being submerged into the water, it's definitely not looking good for me.

Watching my white robes dye red, he looks more concerned, where as my thoughts ponder to his previous comment.

Yes, you finally got to carry me, Wei.
