The Little Lady's Unexpected Eloquence

"Well, we really didn't see any of our grandchildren do that to us before…" Penelope pointed out before laughing a little, seemingly amused.

"Our little Lady here is the first. I'm pleasantly surprised."

"Yeah, you're right. Anyway, where is mine..?" Benedict questioned, clearing his throat before offering his hand out to Lady - somewhat bashfully.

"Or maybe it's for old women only?"

Penelope felt her brow twitch at that. She then crossed her arms and glared at Benedict, hissing, "Honey, did you just really call me 'old' there?"

"But our granddaughter said it herself. That gesture is meant for the elderly."

"That doesn't mean you can slap it on my face! Hmph! Insensitive creature!"

"Look, my love, I'll call myself an old man, too. Are we fair now?"

As Benedict and Penelope started to banter, Lady only made a deadpan look.

Getting worked up about this may have been for nothing after all. Instead of a power couple, what she sees now is an old married couple that is going on about their daily dose of love quarrel.

At least, they appear less intimidating now. This pumps Lady up for a bit. She can take this opportunity to leave a lasting impression.

"Excuse me, Granny, is it okay if I say something?" she cut in, stealing back her grandparents' attention.

"Oh, yes, darling? What is it?" she asked with a sweet smile – little did this granddaughter of hers know that she was glad to hear her call her 'Granny' instead of the usual 'Grandmother,' especially since she sounded so cute and adorable.

"Grandpa's right, you know. You're indeed old. That's why I call you Granny."

While Penelope froze in an instant, Benedict suddenly burst out in a fit of laughter.

Everybody finds themselves dumbfounded by that point – even Maximilian himself. Fallon shot an incredulous look at Lady while Calixtus tried to cover his mouth to keep himself from laughing out loud too.

Her three cousins, on the other hand, seem horrified. They could not imagine themselves doing what she just did. Commenting on their grandmother's age is like inviting a catastrophe. Their grandfather already had a slip of the tongue. There was absolutely no need for her to egg him on.

"Penny, my love, you know why kids have cute, adorable voices…?" Benedict began again, already laughing hysterically.

"It's so that their sweetness can mend their savageness! Pfftt!"

"Oh, Benny, you didn't have to defend our granddaughter. This is all on you…" Penelope muttered darkly, smiling a meaningful, daunting smile.

"Just wait until we go home, alright, dear?"

"Please, don't get angry, Granny. That's not what I mean at all…" Lady chimed in again, making the two of them look back down at her.

"Everyone grows old. Lady will become a granny, too! It's a known fact. But even when Granny is already at that age, she still looks very, very pretty, and I think it's better to appear young even when you're old instead of the other way around. Don't you think so too, Grandpa?"

Lady blinks up at Benedict and Penelope innocently, trying to act as cute and adorable as possible.
