Aunty-in-law 2

That was definitely not the meeting agenda Linda expected, she awkwardly chuckled, "Oh.. Okay, uhm, the couch.", she led her to the couch where Jin Ae gave her the coffee and sandwich making her blush at the sight of Jeremy's logo on the cup and sandwich packaging.

Seeing the bliss in her eyes, Jin Ae remarked "I don't know what's going between you and my sweet nephew but he seemed a bit down since this morning, He just couldn't stop staring at his phone...did you guys have a fight?"

That's when it dawned on Linda that she never called him like she promised, all thanks to Jackie's text, nothing else mattered after the text.

She instantly took her phone and typed an apology to him and reminded him of supper with her aunt, and within a matter of seconds, Jeremy replied with a thumbs up.

She put the phone down, and smiled at Jin Ae, "Sorry aunty-in-law, I just got caught up and forgot to call him, but thank you for reminding me... You saved me."

Jin smiled amusingly at the way she was addressed..."You are welcome, dear. You know I haven't seen you since that day of the lunch. I know we do exchange emails about the gallery...but it's not the same."

"Isn't it someone decided to rent out their own car instead of coming to the office to borrow mine, because if that wasn't the case, I would be seeing you every day...", Linda teased and Jin Ae laughed,

"Isn't it I inconvenienced you once and I didn't hear the end of it from a certain someone's fiancé...". She winked at Linda and she blushed, the thought of Jeremy being overprotective somehow amused her. But before she could even bask at the pleasure of having someone fight your battles, Jin Ae adjusted herself to a more serious sitting position which puzzled Linda because she thought she was there about the miscommunication between her and Jeremy.

Jin Ae cleared her throat," Listen, Linda... There's something I need to tell you..."

Linda gave her a curious and concerned look and Jin Ae instantly chuckled, "Ms King, no need for that face, but it's good to see that I have your attention. It's about Jeremy."

She instantly felt a sharp pain in her heart and she was getting nervous because Jin Ae's demeanor was no longer as playful as it was when she mentioned it the first time. To remain indifferent, and not show that she was alarmed, she began taking sips of her coffee and calmly replied, "I'm listening....",

Without even beating around the bush, Jin Ae blurted out, "I am aware of what is going on between him, your uncle, and his family...", causing Linda to spit-take on her drink.

She was taken aback, and she instantly sat up straight to put her cup on the table, she wondered where she got that information from, but she couldn't ask her out of fear of revealing herself. Her indifferent facade was broken, and with her eyes widened, she exclaimed, "What do you mean!",

She tried to act oblivious but her acting failed to convince Jin Ae otherwise, she sighed, "Oh... I guess it's supposed to be a secret, even from you, but judging by your face... It seems you already know. Which makes this whole thing easier... ",

Linda remained quiet, she did not deny nor confirm her accusations, she just watched her silently, with a hint of guilt on her face.

Jin Ae let out a disappointed sigh, she dropped her face to search through her bag, "Your uncle. Some things never change. He never was good at hiding his schemes, and if it weren't for his parents always cleaning after him and covering his tracks....we would be talking a different story, who knows, he may have even gained a bit of humanity, if he ever had that in the first place. He-",

She lifted her eyes to find Linda staring at her with a painful expression, and she quickly realized that she just went on a rant.

Linda sternly looked at her, and with a cold tone, she barked, "What do you mean?", her cold demeanor sent shivers down her whole body, and she found herself being scared of someone half her age.

She tried to retract her statement, "You know...parents, they never want their children to suffer but at the same time they want to teach them a lesson, you know like take away their favorite toy."

Linda kept glaring at her as she spoke, because the more she spoke, the more she made it evident that she was hiding something, and without even knowing it, she just gave her the biggest clue of all. She knew if she could push a bit more, she could get even more out of her.

Jin Ae saw right through her plan and in hopes of finally changing the subject, she hurriedly took out the memory stick, "Here... I need your help freeing Jeremy from his uncle's grip and it's something only you can do.".

Although Linda wanted to push some more, she decided to welcome the subject change for Jeremy's sake, after all, it was one of her goals to save him from the manipulative old hands that had him in a chokehold. Disappointedly, she sighed and went to take her laptop. As soon as she inserted the memory stick, her face darkened with fear and disgust...

"Aunty-in-law....where did you get this?? You know this could get you killed, right??"
