1 The Mourning Moonlight

As darkness approached in a densely populated settlement in a village suffering from eternal winter called Helberg, the village courtyard was still bustling with people going about their business.

Greetings each other and hospitality between the residents explain how peaceful and harmonious the social life in Helberg is.

"What the...., everybody run! Save yourself now!",said a villager as he looked up at the sky.

And suddenly the initially calm night atmosphere turned into an chaos, a tense event that suddenly occurred there causing the residents who were still doing activities in the village courtyard to run scattered.

The hysterical screams and clattering sounds of people running mingled with the terrifying roar of a swarm of creatures flying back against the moonlight in the freezing night air that instantly shattered the silence in every corner of Helberg.

Several villagers rushed to the watchtower and rang a large bell to alert the others that there was danger in their village.

The sound of the large bell immediately echoed throughout Helberg which immediately made the residents who heard the sound become very panicked and scared to death as if the judgement day had arrived.

Realizing the coming danger, the residents who were in their homes at that time immediately tried to hide in order to save themselves from the threat that was stalking their safety from outside.

Amongst the eternal whiteness of the falling snow, it wasn't long before the black shadows of mysterious creatures that seemed to be flying here and there quickly began to grab everyone they saw one by one and then pulled them into the air and savagely devoured them.

Instantly, blood rained down on the land and quickly froze it, followed by the guttural echo of the dying voices of the bodies that fell on the pale, stained land.

After wiping out the people in the village courtyard, they began to break into every house and prey on anyone they met without mercy.

Inside the house of one of the villagers, a young woman and her little son were taking refuge in a secret room under the floor, so tightly the mother hugged her only son without a second to take her eyes off a small crack in the wooden floor that was right above where they were sheltering at that time.

With great concern the mother continued to try to calm her son who was gripped by fear, she also asked her son not to make the slightest sound so as not to arouse suspicion that could invite danger into the house.

Moments later there was a repeated pounding on the door that startled them both, as if something from outside was trying to break into their house.

The sound became louder and louder, until finally the door could no longer withstand the force that repeatedly hit it, and the door was thrown hard and hit the wall of the house until it was destroyed.

Instantly the two of them more scared to death, with courage the mother tried to peek at the situation inside their house through the gap in the floor, at a glance she saw a mysterious figure who was walking in from the mouth of the door but it was not clear who the figure was because of the dim lighting of the room which was only lit by the flame of a lantern displayed in the corner of the wall.

After a long time trying to observe the figure suddenly her heartbeat seemed to stop for a moment when he found out that the mysterious figure was a terrible creature resembling half a human and half a big bat with a jaw full of fangs grinning covered in blood.

The creature also seemed to be walking here and there as if it was looking for something there, with irregular breathing the woman hugged her only son even tighter.

As the sound of the creature's footsteps and growls grew closer and clearer, they realized that the creature had set its foot right on the floor of the secret room where they were sheltering at the time.

The creature began to sniff around as if it had known that there was prey not far from it standing at that time, finally the two of them could only surrender if they finally had to end tragically that night.

But somehow after a few moments later the creature slowly moved away, the sound of growling and footsteps from the creature was increasingly faintly heard, as if to indicate that the creature had left their house.

Both of them breathed a sigh of relief when they thought that the creature had not succeeded in finding their whereabouts there, but unexpectedly, a moment later the creature returned, quickly flew and then crashed into the wooden floor right where they were sheltering, the surface of the floor was shattered, the creature's eyes with a sharp stare at both of them, both of them screamed in fear very hysterically.

The monster's hand immediately grabbed the woman and pulled her up, repeatedly the woman tried to fight back while continuing to bear the pain from the creature's hand, the child could only cry to see it without being able to do anything to help his mother from the horrible creature's grip.

"Victor! Run now! Hurry up! Save yourself son!", the woman shouted loudly to her son.

"Hey! You monster! Let go of my mom! Let go of my mom!" the boy cried.

"Run away Victor! Now! Listen to mom! Hurry up Victor! Run now!", the woman shouted to her son as he continued to fight the horrible monster that was preparing to devour her.

After the umpteenth time, the woman finally managed to convince her son to run away, reluctantly the boy left the secret room and ran away from his mother with tears in his eyes.

But ironically out there one of the hordes of monsters who was flying around stalking prey around there actually saw it, quickly the creature flew swooping down to grab its potential prey.

The horrifying roar heard from behind instantly startled the boy, causing him to fall over, he screamed in fear while trying to cover his head with both hands.

But suddenly something unexpected happened, the creature's body fell to the ground and was dying in a pool of blood right in front of him, there were two arrows piercing the chest and head of the creature.

Surprised and curious about what he had just witnessed, he then tried to get back up and looked around him and found four unknown people wearing hoods who had no idea where they came from.

"Hurry up! Take cover over there, kid! We'll take care of these nuisance animals first!", said a woman from the four unknown people loudly.
