A long time ago.....

The phoenix is a long-lived, immortal bird associated with Greek mythology, with analogues in many cultures that cyclically regenerates or is otherwise born again. Associated with the sun, a phoenix obtains new life by arising from the ashes of its predecessor. Some legends say it dies in a show of flames and combustion, while others that it simply dies and decomposes before being born again. In the Motif-Index of Folk-Literature, a tool used by folklorists, the phoenix is classified as the motif. The origin of the phoenix has been attributed to Ancient Egypt by Herodotus and later 19th-century scholars, but other scholars think the Egyptian texts may have been influenced by classical folklore. Over time the phoenix motif spread and gained a variety of new associations; Herodotus, Lucan, Pliny the Elder, Pope Clement I, Lactantius, Ovid, and Isidore of Seville are among those who have contributed to the retelling and transmission of the phoenix motif. After the catastrophe of dark dimensional creatures from the underworld forced humans to live as slaves in their world the development of magic and Mages awakened in the inner depths of the world, and a gift from the heavens was given allowing the before petty humans to regain their land and fight for what was rightfully theirs. Years passed as the last huge invasion of the dark creatures had occurred bringing some relief to the people of the mundane world although some of the dark creatures fled and hid in the shadows, some even evolved into crazily strong creatures but so did magic.

Mages had become a thing of sacred light and nobility, now new elements had been discovered, scientist also found a way to use other types of magic like dark, light and dimensional, elemental creatures helped to further improve the strength of all mages around the world to aid in finally eradicating the existence of dark creatures.
