48 Chapter 47 - Ruler of Pride.

I was finally going to test the feature that allows me to edit other people's skills. I thought it wouldn't work since I was doing it with a familiar, but that wasn't the case.

I didn't even have to ask permission.

The spider had come with the skill [Thread Control LV1], the only skill I can edit.

'Well, theoretically, I can edit Status, not just skills... But since I can already edit the Status of my familiars anyway, I'll just test it on skills.'

And if it has no side effects, I'll try it on Kumoko.

'Now let's do this. Edit the skill [ Thread Control LV1 ] to [ Spatial Movement LV10 ].'

So, the spider's skill has been edited.

I received the system notification and used the [ Appraisal ] skill on the spider again. The spider now had the skill [ Spatial Movement LV10 ].

I thought the spider would release the next tier of the skill, but it didn't. That's a bit disappointing. But the important thing is that it's working.

Unfortunately, this spider doesn't have two skills.

I wanted to see if I could edit more than one skill.

'Now you can go. Oh, before that, I need to edit your MP.' The skill uses MP, so I should raise this spider's MP. I set the spider MP to 300 and sent it on its way.

'The tests have been done.'

I returned to where Kumoko was, and she rested peacefully in her web. She wasn't asleep. She turned to look at me.

I approached and called out to her. Kumoko climbed down from her web and came to my side. I wrote on the wall what I would do and asked for permission. But it wasn't easy. It was hard to explain everything to her.

While writing, I tried to edit her Status several times. After a long time, she finally gave permission. I don't know how this works.

Maybe a system notification pops up for her?

No, if that had been the case, she would have given me permission minutes ago. Or maybe she was just worried and was reluctant to give permission.

'Well, let's test it out. I'll edit Kumoko's strength. Or maybe I should edit the defense?'

Kumoko's strength is quite low despite her abnormal speed. She was still at level 2. She had only risen two levels after her evolution. Her strength hadn't even reached 100 yet.

'Let's try editing her strength to 1,000.'

And so I did the test.

I screamed in my mind.

Kumoko stepped back, startled by my sudden celebration. And then, she finally realized what had happened. I could see her shock. Kumoko approached me and tried to hit me.

As my defense is very high, I didn't mind.

As soon as she hit me, I felt nothing, but Kumoko realized she was stronger. Much stronger.

'But that could be dangerous. I remember that when I had a lot of strength and low defense, I damaged my body.' But after my evolution, that didn't happen anymore.

But since she won't have an evolution like mine, I should edit her defense.

'Set her defense to 1,000.'

However, to my disappointment, it didn't work.

'Don't tell me I can't edit more than one Status? But I'm already level 5!!!'

Or maybe it's a status limit.

'System, remove the edit. Put in 500 strength and 500 defense.'

When I used appraisal to see her status, only her strength increased.

'So the limit is just one status. Is it okay to leave her strength at 1,000?' 

Kumoko seemed confused by the changes that were happening. She became strong, then weak, then strong again. Her Status changed several times in a short space of time.

I then explained to her.

Kumoko read everything I wrote and gave me an answer.

I stared at her for a few seconds and sighed. Well, I don't think it'll be a problem to keep 1,000 strength.

Now, she has strength above 1.000, and her speed is even higher.

Maybe there will come a time when I can edit her status like my own. She'll be as strong as me.

'Or maybe not.'

Now that I've taken the test, should we keep hunting to level up? I want to level up to increase [ Editing ] level. I want to know what will happen when it reaches level 10.

Now that I've gone up several levels and even reached phase 2, I've freed up several skill slots! Now I can keep several skills edited simultaneously, and that's amazing!!!! Let's see.
