Can I speak to the Manager?

Marie quietly followed her niece, watching her with a smile, though, a slightly sad one.

'Host! Host! Host!...'

Marie's eyelid twitched and she couldn't bear the constant barrage inside her mind anymore.

What?

She asked silently inside her mind. Despite being only a thought, her annoyance was clear.

But System 999 was already happy enough that she didn't ignore him anymore.

'What just happened earlier? Why did you trick that girl? You talked about being siblings with her mother but that can't be true!'

Marie barely held back a snort.

Why can't it be true? The descriptions fit up perfectly and Sarah really looks like my sister.

'But you are from earth!', the System protested.

So?

Marie raised her eyebrow.

I also transmigrated here, why can't my sister?

'Because you are the first ever person to transmigrate into Pangea!'

Hah!

Into the primitive Pangea whose only humanoid species are beastmen?

The System instantly fell silent.

'...'

'Host, I think something is wrong with this world.'

This time Marie snorted audibly.

You only realized that just now?

'...'

' I will try to reach out to the headquarters again.'

With this the System turned unresponsive.

Sarah and Marie had also reached their destination by now.

A slightly less shabby looking building with three stories, sticking out from the rest because of the great number of lanterns lining the street before it.

A lot of female beastmen stood out front, waving beastmen in with stiff smiles on their faces. And judging from the noise blarring out of the door, their market technique seemed to be very effective. Even now, a random beastman walked up to one of the girls and dragged her into the building.

Sarah led Marie directly into the building after silently nodding at the girls around the entrance in greeting.

The inside was quite frankly a dirty mess, with couples lying on the floor anywhere you looked, in the main hall, up the stairs, in rooms with still open doors... it left Marie feeling thoroughly disgusted once more.

Not in face of the 'indecency' in front of her, no, she didn't really care about that, it was the absolutly disgusting state of everything around. The dirt and hair as well as feathers lying on the ground, splutters of who knows what on the floors and walls, and finally the smell that was worse than anything she had experienced before. She also noticed that someone had tried to mask the smell by burning aromatics but that just made it even worse.

But Sarah didn't seem to care about any of that, continuing to walk forward, ascending the stair while bypassing several couples caught in tight embraces.

Marie followed her wordlessly, but that didn't mean that she wasn't already debating on how to get her niece out of this pigsty.

Finally, they came across a big hall which was just several rooms with the thin, sliding walls opened so they would all be connected. There were a few piles of fabric lying around but ultimately, this room was the tidiest and emptiest area Marie had seen ever since arriving here.

"This is our sleeping hall," Sarah revealed coldly.

Marie turned her head to look at the other.

This was their sleeping hall? For all the girls working here? There were no beddings or anything other of the sort!

Pity welled up in Marie's heart as she looked at her niece's passive expression.

And the longer she looked, the more her pity turned into anger. Marie slowly balled her hand into a fist.

"Who is the person in charge? Can you please bring me to them?"

Despite her anger, Marie still took care to gently smile at her niece.

Sarah stared at the strange fellow claiming to be her uncle for a moment, wondering what the other wanted to do, before turning her back and continue walking.

This time they descended the stairs, weaving through the crowd of entangled beastmen in the main hall. Marie took special care not to step on any unidentifiable substances on the ground, which resulted in her not noticing Sarah coming to halt and directly walking into her niece.

But Sarah didn't even stumble, instead it was Marie who almost fell backwards on the couple behind her, flailing her arms.

Barely escaping disaster, Marie took a breath in relief and looked up. Not far away from her, a tall beastman with silver hair and very broad shoulders stood. Looking closer, he seemed to be quite handsome, with a chiseld chin and striking yellow eyes but after witnessing the absolute state of this filth hole, any goodwill Marie could have mustered towards the other had turned to nothing.

"Is that him?" , Marie asked softly just to confirm with Sarah.

Her niece nodded slightly, not taking her eyes off the silver haired man.

Having officially found her target, Marie made her way towards the other, a friendly smile on her face.

"Hello!", she greeted loudly, "I heard you were the one in charge of this establishment?"

The silver haired man turned to face Marie after her sudden greeting.

"Yes, that's right. Is something the matter?", his gaze passed her by, landing on Sarah standing not far behind, and he began to frown, "Did she do anything that displeased you? In that case I apologize and will see to her getting punished accordingly."

Marie felt disturbed, what was with him immediately jumping to conclusion and punishing people?

She quickly shook her head.

"Nothing along those lines, Sarah has been nothing but pleasant! Instead, I wanted to talk business with you."

Immediately after Marie said this, the silver haired man seemed to loose all interest in the conversation.

"It's good she didn't do anything, if you would excuse me."

The man took a step away, intending to leave and observe his business from somewhere else. Somewhere without an annoying brat to bother him.

"I have something that can help you raise your income exponatially!"

Despite her words, the man continued walking not revealing a hint of interest.

"I'm extremly good at applying make-up!", Marie hurried after him, struggling to keep up since his legs, and in turn strides, were much longer than hers.

She grit her teeth in frustration. After jumping over a couple lying in the way, Marie grabbed the man's arm to stop him.

Immediately, the man turned to glare at her with his sharp eyes.

Sweating on the inside and uncomfortably aware of the huge lumps of muscles bulging beneath his ancient chinese looking robes, Marie kept smiling, seemingly unware of the other's threatening aura.

"Please let me show you, I only need about ten minutes."

Marie: Don't worry, dear niece, your 'uncle' will channel 'his' inner 21st century Karen to settle this!
