10 Chapter Ten

...This sucked.

I was looking outside the window, just lounging on my seat and doing absolutely nothing for seven hours, ever since I woke up.

"Hey, I have an idea."

Oh no.

"Oh no."

A small bolt of electricity came at me, which dissipated on contact and I felt my already full mana reservoir fill more, letting out a small bust of mana our of my body to counteract the effects, I waited for a moment and looked over at Ethan.

"Can you make me the playful cloud?"

I blinked, then blinked again.

"Dude, that's a great idea... Why can't you come up with ideas like that more often?"

He just rolled his eyes at me.

Huffing, I normally sat in my seat and took out ink and paper from my inventory as I started going over how to replicate the mechanics of the thing.

But first things first, I needed to make blueprints. As the ink started outlining the weapon, my mind wandered off to the wood that would be used.

It would have to be either an elder tree that was old enough for its bark to have managed to absorb enough mana from the atmosphere or... Alternatively, preferably, we could go and kill an Ironbark overlord.

Now where would we find that thing?

I focused back on the paper, observing the drawing and crumbling the paper. It was a doodle, three sticks with three circles connecting them isn't a blueprint.

Getting a new paper, I tried my hardest not to zone out this time and get it done correctly, after that was done, I focused on making magic circles that I would use to enchant this thing.

One would be focused on amplifying while the other would focus on power, and the final one would focus on durability, making it practically indestructible.

This would take a while.

I sighed and got to work.

____

I looked at the majestic sight before me, Buildings, fountains, fantastic views...

"What now?"

I asked only to get an annoying sigh from my brother.

"Enjoy the sight dude, the fuck?"

I just roll my eyes, view? What was so great about this? The sun, which was a deadly laser mind you, was glaring into my eyes, I could barely see.

Those majestic sights were nothing but a blur as I squinted my eyes.

"I can't see shit."

He just grunted and walked forward, disgruntled.

I just had to ruin everything, didn't I?

Sighing, I followed, holding up a hand so that I would regain my sight to actually look around.

I had to admit, the sights were nice, for something built with pre-historic techniques, but one earthquake and say goodbye to your two children and a loving wife.

"Hmmm..."

Ethan turned around and saw my thoughtful face and shook his head.

"Don't."

What a buzz kill.

"Could you stop knowing what I'm thinking about for five minutes?"

He had the nerve to huff at me, and we continued our exploration in silence until a brilliant thought struck me.

"Hey, I have an idea."

Ethan turned to look at me curiously and I grinned in response.

"Terrorism."

He facepalmed.

Rude.

___

I held a small, normal-looking dagger in my palm. Black leather on the handle and a simple handguard. I tested it, seeing if it was comfortable in my hand, which wasn't really important since these were going to be used to test the enchantments I would use for the Playful Cloud.

I looked at the others, spotting a few more that would work.

I looked at the store owner, a burly man with bulky arms, obviously an experienced smith who was keeping an eye on me.

"Excuse me, Sir, I would like to buy these four daggers."

I pointed at the other three, all unremarkable, but obviously well-made.

He raised an eyebrow and walked over, taking a look at the ones I wanted.

"Sure thing, lad, just give me a moment, I get the sheathes."

For someone so gruff-looking, he was rather nice. He walked through the door and I was left alone in the shop. I placed the dagger in my hand back in its place and waited.

After a few minutes, he came back, holding four sheathes, putting each dagger in one, and putting them on the counter.

"That will be four thousand Eris. Thank you for the purchase."

I placed the required amount on the table and took the daggers.

"Thank you for your hard work."

I nodded at him and left the building. Outside, Ethan was leaning on a wall, doing absolutely nothing.

"Think fast."

I threw two sheathed daggers at him, which he caught, unfortunately. He looked at the daggers and raised an eyebrow at me, Putting them in his own inventory.

"What are these for?"

He questioned, putting his hand back in his pocket. The two daggers disappeared from my hand and I walked past him. He fell into step next to me as I started to explain.

"I'll use them to test the enchantments for the Playful Cloud, if they work on daggers, they will work on wood too."

He hummed, looking toward the road again.

"... Where do we sleep tonight?"

That was actually a good question. My lips thinned and I looked around... No inns.

I shrugged.

"I'm sure we will find a place eventually. Meanwhile... What do we do meanwhile?"

He shrugged too... You know, maybe traveling wasn't our best idea...

Eh, too late to go back now. It would be too awkward.
