Chapter Eight

I was laughing.

"Fuck you."

I started laughing harder.

"No really, fuck you, dude."

I fell to my knees, clutching my stomach.

"How the fuck did you do it?"

I didn't answer, I was too busy laughing. Nothing was particularly funny, but I was still laughing.

Two fucking years! I finally did it!

"The next thing I know, you will make a domain expansion..."

I took a few calming breaths and stood up, wiping legitimate tears from my eyes.

"Dude, I fucking did it! Two bloody years of my life were not wasted! I made fucking Lapse Blue! Suck it Gojo! I don't fucking need Limitless! I'm the honored one now! Bitch!"

I raised my hands in the air, shouting for all the world to hear that I was the fucking shit!

After a few seconds, I calmed down and put my hands on my waist.

"What are you going to call it?"

I looked at Ethan, smirked, and raised two fingers.

"Azure Rift."

A blue orb came into existence at the tip of my fingers, swirling, rotating, pulling.

Extending my hand, I launched it forward and watched the destruction unfold as it pulled the nearby trees, ground, and even some boulders toward it as they cracked, shattered, and turned into debris.

I cut off the mana output and the blue sphere dissipated, dropping everything that it sucked in on the ground.

"Damn."

Ethan muttered, looking pensive at the display of destruction.

I was proud of myself, truly. Shoving my hands into my pockets, I turned around and returned to the village.

Ethan followed, looking at me weirdly.

"Why are we walking? don't we know teleport?"

I paused and placed a hand on his shoulder. We teleported back to the village.

In two years, Yunyun would start going to the academy, and in two years, we wouldn't be in the village.

I sighed, I wanted to be there for her acceptance.

Rolling my shoulder, I looked around the house, nobody was home, so the little squirt must be with the other squirt... Good on her. At least she won't be lonely when we leave.

I stretched my arms, getting satisfying pops from my spine. Groaning, I sighed and slumped my shoulders.

I was tired, these two years were tiering. Four levels in two years was pathetic, but it only proved that the monsters in the forest were not up to par anymore.

Ethan was only five levels behind me and even he was struggling.

I rubbed my neck, plopping down on the couch.

Now what? I could reverse the effects of Azure Rift, but that could be done later, I needed a new project... something that could occupy me for a year.

"Oi! Can you put a spell on this cup so that it can keep my tea warm?"

I blinked, looked at Ethan, and deadpanned. He just rolled his eyes and went back to the kitchen.

Maybe I should branch out to enchanting... Yeah, that would be nice.

I just had to wait for my dad to get home.

___

"My boys are finally coming around!"

Dad was hugging us with one hand over each of our necks, crocodile tears flowing from his eyes.

"I have been waiting for this day since you two were born!"

He let me go and walked upstairs with great enthusiasm, Ethan and I shared a look and waited silently for him to come down.

When he did, he had two boxes in hand.

"I have been having these modified every year! Finally, the day has come for them to be dawned!"

He extended the boxes to each of us and waited eagerly. I looked at the box and opened it. Inside, I saw something that made me want to tweak.

I looked over the black leather shirt, brown pants, and black boots, along with fingerless gloves and a red scarf.

I looked up at my father who was awaiting our reactions.

I looked down at it again... it wasn't bad.

Quite good, actually, except the leather jacket seemed a bit much.

"Thank you, Father, I shall wear this and make you proud on the battlefield."

I said seriously and the old man began wiping his eyes from joy.

"My children are growing up right in front of my eyes! I'm so proud!"

I chuckled and closed the box again. I already had some ideas, and it would be great if they worked.

After that whole ordeal, I went into my room and got new papers to write my enchantment ideas on.

Three hours passed by, and the only thing I could come up with were the results, but did not manage to start making any enchantments at all.

And this fucking quill!

I scowled and burned the damnable contraption in my hand.

Sighing to calm my nerves, I reached out and activated hydrokinetic resonance, the ink floated out of the container and I started writing.

I took the Teleportation circle as a base and stripped it of anything actually connected to teleporting. Leaving behind the only important parts that were needed.

Mainly, the part where it drained mana out of the user and into the rest of the circle. Inversing it and placing another circle inside the one that drained mana.

I frowned and held out my hand in front of me, watching as the magic circle that cast Chain Lightning that I learned from one of the books in the library.

Ignoring the mana drain circle, mana channeling circle, and the pattern that dictated what the lightning would do, I copied down the pattern that just produced lightning.

I rubbed my forehead to ponder if I could put something else inside but decided to keep this simple for now.

I guided my mana manually as I created the magic circle and tried to trigger it only for it to fizzle out as soon as I did. Sighing, I looked down at the magic circle and pondered what went wrong with it.
