3 Chapter 3 - Spawn

[50,000 years in the future]

- July 4th - 14:00 - Washington DC -

"Come on mother, it's time to go." In a fairly normal house, steps could be heard rushing about as a tan-skinned young man, could be seen running through the house as he tried putting on his shoes. His body swayed with his medium-length black hair as he fell towards the steps. His face had a soft grin as he held out his hand, watching a red substance come from his arm, attaching itself to the wall as he swung down the steps.

"Muaka, how many times have I told you to relax, and to stop using your powers within the house." The young man who was happy at his showing, held his head low from the voice that came from behind him, his head slowly turning to see a woman with her arms crossed as she shook her head.

"Come on mom, times have changed! If I don't show my face I can use these powers for good." Muaka deadpanned, his voice full of excitement as he watched his mom's face become more and more serious. "Alright, Alright.. no more powers in the house." He went on as he had many times before, hoping to save himself from the monster his mom could be.

"Listen to your mother!" But to his smiling face, he was greeted with a substance next to his mother's head. It came out of her back, swaying next to the woman as it's long blonde and red hair fell to the floor, yelling at Muaka.

"We already said, OK mom!" Muaka's face almost touched the ground as a being came from his shoulder, his red skin and sharp teeth not as intimidating as it spoke back to the being's words.

"Alright, I think they get it scream." Muaka's mother said, her two halfs looking at each other as she watched her son's face sink with a giggle.

"You're too easy on both of them Ishtar.." scream spoke, her head turning away in a pout as she looked at the floor. Only being brought out of it when a piece of meat was held in front of her mouth. "Like that's.." scream wanted to say, but her mouth was already devouring the meat before she could finish.

"Mom is awesome.." Both Muaka and his other half said, amazed at how quickly their mother shut their other mother up. Watching as scream destroyed the meat given to her with out questions.

"Wait, why do you have meat in your coat pocket mom." Muaka said confused, looking at his other half that was equally confused but drooled all the same.

"Just in case she doesn't stop. But what I said still stands. That goes for you as well, carnage." Ishtar spoke, her and scream looking at him try to sneak back into Muaka's body as if he was not a part of this situation.

"Yes mom!" Carnage said along side Muaka, both giving puppy eyes to their mothers as they held their heads low. "Can we go now?" Muaka continued, watching as carnage and scream went back into their bodies, his face smiling at carnage who reached from his back, taking rice crispy treats from the counter behind him, and placed them in their pocket.

"Hmm, if someone is to ask you for your name, what do you say?" Ishtar walked towards Muaka, her face still gentle but smiled all the same as she walked into the kitchen, questioning her son.

"Really mom?!" Muaka couldn't help but sigh, seeing his mother's back, only to straighten up as scream materialized with an arm, pointing her two fingers at her eyes and then at Muaka, sending a chill down his spine.

"So?" Ishtar continued, pulling the lunch from the refrigerator.

"Avery burt.." Muaka who had given up, spoke back to his mother while rolling along the counter top of the island.

"Your power?" Ishtar said, uncaring about how her son looked as if he would fall over from the questions.

"Contractual manifestation, something along the lines of Shazam, the same power my mother has.." Muaka went over his thoughts, speaking back the answers he had went over many times with his mother.

"How will you present Carnage?" She went on, ignoring her son's eye-rolling as she placed the lunch on the counter, she was stuck in the past where she needed to make lunch.

"In a friendly non-threatening manner, only allowing him a layer over my skin, so I don't arouse suspicions from the other heroes." Muaka spoke, pulling the bagged lunch to himself, taking a peek inside as he pushed it away, only for carnage to reach out a tendril and place it within his mouth.

"Good, remember to remain as you are always. Do not, and I mean, do not let carnage act as he wishes." Ishtar went on as she looked at Muaka, then to carnage who had come out of Muaka's skin with his head low.

"Yes mom! Now let's go or will be late!" Muaka watched as his mother moved towards him, pulling his cheek up to her as she kissed it, alongside scream who lifted carnage's face to kiss his cheek with a smile.

The morning light that came through the door, pushed scream and carnage back a little. Each looking at each other, Muaka, carnage, scream, and Ishtar gave a look of understanding to each other as they walked out into the day light. The walk to the justice leagues home-base didn't take long but still Ishtar had a worried look as she watched her son's back.

"Sweets will rot their teeth.." scream spoke within Ishtar's mind, a tendril coming out to show the crispy treat she had taken from Muaka, slamming it into the ground with a crack as they walked forward.

"It is fine scream, like me, you only worry for them." Ishtar said, even if separated they both shared a part of each other's personality, watching a scream turned her face away unable to say that she cared for her son.

"He is becoming more persistent, and annoyingly thorough." scream who ignored the words of caring, spoke out in a harsh tone as she looked at the back of their son. her words growing and annoyance as she continued walking with Ishtar.

"Always the ever cautious one, isn't that right, Bruce." Ishtar tried to enjoy the day, feeling screams hand wrap her own as she squeezed it tightly, letting her hand go as she draped it over the top bushes, the pieces of a small hidden camera laying in the grass unnoticed by anyone.

" I do not care that you question me or my identity, but if your machinations do something to harm my son.." The side of Ishtars face matched with scream, her voice distorted for a second feeling the anger rise rapidly within their chest, only to shake her head to stop the thoughts that played within their shared mind.

" No we will not be like him, nor will he.." Ishtar shook her head to her thoughts, releasing scream, both of them looking at each other for but a moment as they understood what just happened.

"He will never be like you.." both scream and Ishtar said to one another, looking at their son's back as they walked forward hoping for a better future.

The water dripped, stagnant, continuously unmoving, and unfocused. the weight of the chains around the beings body ever growing as if mountains. down deep in the Earth unseen by anyone's eyes, A being leaned on its knees, it's eyes closed yet to see the world that it had come into, the symbol on his chest growing crimson as its eyes opened slightly, the crimson-color filling the room for a moment as their eyes shut once again.

"Cadmus..."
