Serving the kingdom

Uhhhh....Aaron groaned as he slowly opened his eyes. The unfamiliar surrounding's seemed to be dimly lighted with the only source of light being the small window and it was getting clearer to look at as the door was open, lighting the room fairly. It looked as if he was in a large house with the walls made of wood and the wooden bed covered with beast fur which was warm and comfy to lay on.

Hearing the sound of footsteps approaching, Aaron suddenly turned vigilant and tried getting up from the bed.

"Careful Sir, you have not yet recovered completely. Please have some rest before trying to move", said a knight hurrying over to help Aaron get in a comfortable position as three men, Including the same knight who was now helping Aaron. Seeing his own men, Aaron relaxed his vigilance as he looked at a man who had a well-trimmed beard and was looking *suave, currently greeting Aaron.After sending the junior knight outside, Aaron gestured to report.

"We had kept a knight for guard and other's surrounding the Orc leaders mansion for your safety and the guard, seeing you getting conscious, quickly reported to us about your condition and we came as soon as we knew that you are awake", said the suave man.

"Good, Deputy-commander Caesar, what's the current status of our mission?" asked Aaron getting right up to the mark.

"Yes commander Aaron, The mission was a success with the Orc chief and the rebelling Orcs being captured as a prisoner and being healed by our healer mages currently and the whole Orc camp has been completely seized as per his Majesty's order's", said Caesar waiting for Aaron's further orders.

Uhhh...Commander, Can I....can I say something?...A young boy of around 18 year's, but with a well-developed body hesitatingly asked Aaron.

I told you before Jacob, you cannot ....., Caesar started chiding Jacob, Afraid that the young lad who he took care of like his little brother would be punished but was stopped by Aaron.

Stop. Captain, Speak. Aaron looked at Jacob waiting for his reply.

"Commander, Don't you think that we are in the wrong following the Majesy's order?" Jacob said with a serious face.

Caesar was now sweating as Jacob was questioning the Majesty's decision, which could be heavily punished or extreme cases, will lead to an execution. But he did not dare to speak as he knew Aaron well and did not want to annoy him further.

Aaron was impressed by his guts and showing an amused smile,he said "Elaborate".

Seeing this smile, Jacob started getting nervous.

"Commander, You obiviously know that orcs are a neutral race and don't fight one foot outside their territory and they have even helped us in many war's, as such they should be considered as our allies coupled with the fact that we have a peace treaty with them, Yet, we are attacking and taking control over their territory.I just wanna say that this looks wrong, don't you think so?", Jacob looked at Aaron as if waiting for his judgment.

"Captain, do you remember that we took a wow before to serve the kingdom?.It's our duty to serve the king and its not our place to meddle in the kingdom's politics.A knights duty and vow is his life.If you, the trusted captain in our army, is thinking like this, then what about the rest of the army?It's the first and only time I am letting you go, Since you dare to share your thought's only to me, But the next time...."

Aaron now looked at Jacob seriously, his look saying that there would not be a next time.

"Kindly forgive me b..but, What if the king tells you to kill or threaten the citizens of our kingdom?", Jacob asked Aaron.

"Then, I will kill the king and then kill myself", Aaron said without any hesitation, shocking both the Knight's present there, as he further said, "I have sworn first to serve the kingdom, then the king."

"The king leads the kingdom, But the people makes it a kingdom, remember."

Knock...Knock...There was a sound, suddenly at the door waking the two knights from their stupor.

"Come in", said Aaron as two knights entered alongwith a lady with her face covered with a black veil...
