Wounded Again
The sky and the dense trees.
The sounds of my footsteps as I ran and weaved through the forest.
That same accursed dream again.
"FUCK!" I say as I wake up upright holding my chest.
I look to the side and see the shocked faces of Mellissa and Lawrence.
I calm my breathing and lie back down.
"Sorry for scaring you guys," I say to them while gritting my teeth due to the pain of moving my body so suddenly.
"Was it a nightmare?" Lawrence then asked me
"Just a memory I want to forget, Anyways how'd you guys find me?"
"I was trying to look for you after class to give you the pouch of gold you asked of me, went to your room and asked Lawrence if he knew where you were, he also didn't know, then at that moment we overheard one of the students say that they saw someone who was heavily wounded walking around the hallway, we asked the description of the person they saw and they matched your appearance, so we immediately ran to the place they said were they last seen you," Mellissa then puts a pouch of gold near my bed.
"Thanks for the gold and for lending a hand,"
"Don't mention it, also what made you look so terrible?"
"Had a small accident don't worry about it"
Lawrence then made a frown and Mellissa had one of her eyebrows raised up.
Mellissa was about to say something but we hear the sound of a door opening.
A Silver-haired teacher then appeared out of the door.
It was Ms. Leah.
"Student Kayn," she said as she looked at my condition.
She was visibly concerned about me.
"I am- we are sorry Student Kayn, for not trusting your words,"
I let out a sigh.
"It is okay Ms. Leah"
Lawrence was confused and so was Mellissa.
"The academy wishes to reward you with anything that you ask for, Student Kayn, to compensate for our negligence"
I then grab the pouch of gold that was near my bed.
"Give me 5 of these and we will call it even," I say as I make a small smile at her.
"Is that really all Student Kayn?" Ms. Leah was confused.
"Yes," I say as I put the gold pouch down.
"Understood, Student Kayn"
She then bowed at me.
"You have the gratitude of the Academy, Student Kayn"
"Raise your head, Ms. Leah, I was merely doing what our family is known for"
She then raised her head and was looking at me with admiration.
"I shall now take my leave, you can expect the gold to arrive tomorrow in your room"
I nod at her and she leaves the room.
I let out a sigh of relief.
"Kayn, aren't we friends?"
I look to the side and see Lawrence looking at me with sad eyes.
"Friends huh? I guess we are friends, now that I think about it" I thought to myself.
"Yes, we are Lawrence"
"Then why do you keep secrets from me?"
I let out another sigh.
"Fine, ill tell you"
I then told him that I defeated a Wolfman and the academy investigated me because they couldn't believe that I actually killed one.
"Y-yo-you defeated a Wolfman???" Lawrence clearly could not believe what I just said.
"What? Don't believe me?"
"It-its just that even trained knights have trouble fighting them and you're only a first-year student"
"Yeah that is what the academy thought to"
"Then how'd you defeat one?" Mellissa then asked me.
"Sorry can't tell you, It's a secret hidden technique of our family"
"But every time you use it, you'll end up like that?" She said as she pointed to the cuts and scratches on my body.
"Yep, pretty much"
A priest then entered the room and approached me.
"Student Kayn, nice to see you again," he then nods at me.
He then looked at Mellissa and Lawrence
"You guys should probably leave, your belongings won't pack themselves you know?"
"But-" Mellissa was about to say something.
"Don't worry, you guys have done enough, Kayn is in my hands now"
"Sorry Kayn looks like I need to leave now"
"It's okay Mellissa, thanks again for helping me"
She then nods at me and proceeded to leave the room.
"See you around Lawrence, and thanks for the help"
"Don't worry about it" he said as he left the room.
The priest then starts to use his magic on me, I then feel the numerous amount of cuts and scratches around me heal.
"So refreshing," I thought to myself.
The cuts and scratches around my body have now disappeared but it was still extremely painful to move.
"Fucking aura exhaustion," I thought to myself
"Well then, your wounds have now been healed, the only thing left is the aura exhaustion"
"Thanks,"
"Hopefully in the future, you'll treat your body with more care,"
"No promises,"
The priest then sighs and goes to his desk.
"One slash, my body was only able to handle one slash, how pathetic was that? I have now lost two sword chants, in my mind, I still maybe have 4 left that I can confidently execute, I will have to stop relying upon the sword chant in the future, I need to train" I thought to myself.
