Chapter 8 : Elevator

I sit down in front and find it so hard to close the zipper of my sleeveless formal top at my back.

I looked to the other women in the comfort room who prepare themselves with the same dress that I am trying to wear.

"They were all beautiful and sexy." I said silently while still pushing the zipper up.

They were all busy to groom themselves that is why I put my attention on my face makeup until someone at my back pulled up my zipper.

"Oh, thank you." I looked at my back.

"You need to hurry. I'm Laica." She said to me with a smile.

"Yes...Nice to meet you. I am Lyrids..." I said to Laica which is girl in Asian appearance which is 5'1 feet tall.

We shake hands and continue grooming ourselves.

Finally, all of us lined up in the upward portal. I tried to ensure if my formal attire was properly fix by means of touching it.

We are all pulled up to a big and wide hall on proper alignment. On our side, a big LED light appeared. This is as same us to others. Women are separated to the men. We are on the left side while they are on the right side. I think we are also lined up by our age.

At the top wall, we can see the top authority looking to us including our possible bosses, executives and other prominent persons at Mars. Below were the Senior employees who worked there for many years.

"Thank you God for this chance to be part of them." I said with full of happiness to everything that I see.

A holographic old man with beard appear at the middle portion of the hall and it was very tall like a giant man.

He gave a little speech and proclaimed that we are a total of 5000 associate time travelers with 5 different job descriptions. Those are time guard, safety assurance, time historian, System analysts (programmer) and time tour guide.

He stated that we will undergo a 1 month training before execution of work. However, those who failed to attain the needed skills will be fired. After hearing that, many of us reacted but the old man said that we should do better than the best. He also added that time traveler job is the hardest job and most payable of all.

I was a little bit scared because we are not yet official.

I closed my eyes and said to myself that God never give me a job that I can't handle. I will soon be an official time traveler of this company.

All of the employees clapped their hands and speak loudly an encouraging words to all of us.

"You can do it! You can do it! You can do it!" They all repeatedly said. They releases positive energies that makes me believe that we can passed it.

The first day of our training was about our appearance and how to wear our three types of time traveler suit. The most common is the color dark blue that fits our body wherein it has 100 functions and rely on spoken codes in order to operate.

Right now, we are sitting in a very wide room. I think we are approximately 1200 safety time travelers. We all wear a dark blue clothes of different styles/designs but at the upper right corner the logo of our company was printed.

It was letter J with five stars surround or circling around it.

Mrs. Ameline, 41 years old lady, is the one orienting us right now. She stand in composed and her appearance was like a model. She looks like a 30 year old lady.

This first three days training is only an introduction for the much harder.

"Remember that we all must maintain a beautiful body. A chubby feature or appearance doesn't look good in our suit. We already know that a thin body is the healthiest of all body size. So let us maintain or right now start exercising to have a normal body mass index." She discussed to all of us while presenting some video.

I touched my stomach and I can feel a little baby belly.

"Ah, I need to have a proper diet." I silently said.

Mrs. Ameline stated the advantages of having a thin or medium size of body as a safety time traveler.

"Face is not important but body shape is power." She stated seriously.

It was a very long discussion. A holographic mirror suddenly appeared infront of us. We saw ourselves.

"Everyone, please stand." Mrs. Ameline requested.

I stand I looked on my whole body appearance.

"You can see your appearance, especially your whole body. If you click the button upper left side, the screen resize your body to show you what it would look like to have that. At the same time, you can click the maximum size at the upper right side corner for the fat appearance. You can scroll it to adjust the size." She explained.

I did what she said. My normal waist line were also indicated and some parts of my body. Here also I saw some functions wherein I could change my clothes. I clicked bikini.

"Ah, I looked good. Hehehe..." I said while looking at it.

The man at my back looked at it.

"I think you still need to improve your body. Your body was starting to get fat." He said in a serious voice that makes me unexpectedly click the too covered body.

It was a too long discussion. I looked into my watch and smiled a little bit.

There will be 10 minutes before the end of this first orientation day.

While Mrs. Ameline was seriously discussing the make-up techniques, a man with a square shape of face and two sided straight hair went through the podium of the stage that catches our attention. He was wearing a formal attire with the mark of executive.

"Ah, he was one of the panels during final interview." The woman on my left side said.

I looked closer and remembered that he was the one who said that I am beautiful during my final interview.

"Are you going to announce something?" Mrs. Ameline asked him while giving her crystalize microphone.

He stand straight with passion that makes him look so attractive to the girls

"I am Engr. Sealtiel Dalton from Software Time Traveler department. Everyone already saw me during their final interview. For my age of 27, I was very proud for being the youngest Senior executive in our top leading company that gives technological and management services when it comes to time traveling." He stated then paused for awhile.

He looked to every one in this room. His eyes moved quickly and scanned our faces.

"His speech doesn't make sense." The girl on my front said in a low tone.

He smiled after 1 minute of searching as if he found what he was looking.

"I am here to look forward to the person who also qualified our software time traveler position. I remember her good logical and memory skills. It amazed everyone of us during her final interview. She was different and very intelligent. Finally I saw her." He announced in an energetic voice.

"Who is she?" The man at my back said.

"Lyridsdela Cruz, I am requesting you to join us. Be part of us. Make incredible programs and change the world." He said while looking at me from faraway.

I was shocked. I just listen to him. Impossible... I was not intelligent. I didn't passed board exam twice but then I was offered to move in his department. What should I do? It was the most powerful department of all. It was the main control of all of us.

I became the apple of the eye of all people here. Hehehe ... I am going crazily happy...

"Is it me? Yes, Lyrids it was you and only! You are given a chance to move on the other department! Hahaha! You are very lucky!Hahaha!" I happily said to myself while imagining myself standing with a powerful posture above all.

My imagination was stopped when I saw that on the stage Mrs. Ameline get a little bit mad to Mr. Sealtiel and removed the microphone in a no good manner.

"How unethical to do that Mr. Sealtiel as a highly respective person." She said in a low tone.

He just smiled manly and leave our area.

"Okay, I apologized for the unimportant announcement from one of our young executives. Let's continue our topic and focus." Mrs. Ameline said.

It was already time to go. We all leave the area. I was thinking about the offer but then due to the reason that I want adventure and safety of everyone, I might not accept his wonderful offer to me.

I entered elevator to go underground. I saw many people inside too. The chinito guy was again beside me. I was going to touch the underground button but stopped it because I might again accidentally touch someone's finger. So I put my right hand down and wait for someone to touch it.

After two seconds, the chinito guy grabbed the index finger of my right hand and used it to punch the underground button and closed.

I looked to him with confusion about why he did that crazy stuff to my finger. He just showed an emotionless and serious facial expression to me.

When we stepped out the elevator, Mr. Sealtiel seems like waiting for someone.

"Ah finally it's you." He said to me.

He stand in my front and smiled sweetly.

"Nice to meet you Lyrids." He shakes respectfully my hand.

"Me too Sir." I replied.

"Remember what I said before?" He asked.

"Hmmm... Yes, Sir." I replied.

"I am the one who choose you to be one of us. You know that we are the most powerful time travelers and even to the whole Mars. We could destroy and recreate everything to this planet. It was also the highest paid of all jobs according to our latest survey." He explained in order to convince me.

"Thank you Sir but I cannot not answer you right now." I replied on him.

"It's okay Lyrids. I was just so impressed on you during your interview. In case that you change mind, then call me. Here's my number." He said to me.

"Yes, Sir." I said with a smile.

"Okay, thank you too. Good bye for a while. You got the potential Lyridsdo not ignore this great opportunities." He said in a low tone then walk away.

I looked at him from faraway. His appearance was a little bit liked Knight.

"Ah, I think I was wrong. His appearance was too different from him." I said to myself.

I turned my head slowly.

"He was already a married man with 1 baby. You shouldn't like him." The chinito guy whispered on my right ear.

"Ah... I do not know that..." I said while listening to him.

"You'll be a mistress..." He said to scare me.

I followed him as he walked fast going out to the building.

I touched his watched as my respond using my telepathy. Then suddenly the word "I do not like him" projected upward on his watch in arial font style and color white.

Our microchip was connected to our brain wherein our thoughts can be reconnected to a certain device using telepathy. This is the reason that the electromagnetic waves of our brain transmit it to the receiving device that we want to pair/match our released frequency in order to communicate in a different way.

The chinito guy laughed a little on me.

"Hehehe..." He laughed a little and smiled sweetly.

He did the same to me but he uses different device.

He opened his black blazer then his thoughts appeared in words inside and in front his vest at the chest portion.

"I remember you..." The first sentence appeared in front of his chest in Calibri font of style.

"You are the girl at planet Earth." The second sentence appeared that makes me smile.

He closed his blazer and looked around then opened his left palm then show me another sentences.

"I am Gian, 25 & single." He smiled while showing to me.

In response I showed him the sentences with a font style similar to "Curlz Mt" with some rotating flowers that appeared on my right shoulder.

"Lyrids, 23 & single."

"Can I invite you to have some coffee?" a question appeared on Gian's forehead and two arms that makes me laugh a little.

"Sure..." I said with a genuine smile.

It was my first time to meet someone as funny and creative like him. I feel so comfortable and the way he expressed himself was too funny though he seems like a little bit dominant in his action.

So we walked together to the near coffee shop and started to order some coffee.

I sip my white coffee. I stare happily to Gian who's in front of me.

"So you are the woman in the painting?" He said to me with a raising eyebrow.

"No, I'm not..." I lean on him and replied.

"Your brother will fetch you? The one I saw at the station of planet Earth." He asked me. He was thinking that Knight was my older brother.

"Hehehe... He is not my brother..." I responded silently while holding the cup of my coffee.

"Who is he? You're uncle?" He asked more.

"My ex-boyfriend." I honestly said that moves him a little from his chair.

"Are you surprised? He was 10 years older than me. I am not a gold digger or something that others think. You can see that I managed to work and be independent." I explained on him while looking down because I felt a little shy.

"No, it is fine. However, I am a little bit curious." He said that as he looked to my baby face and opened his mini identification device that looks like a mini gun with a laser. It was called Body Current Status device or BCS. Once a person pointed it to the person, it will reconnect to the microchip that provides data from my memory & current status of my body."

He pointed me the BCS then it started to speak my current body condition.

"Mircrochip No. 444 was reconnected. Martian was healthy, virgin & brainwaves were properly routing inside her body." The BCS device said with a voice of a woman.

"So you are still virgin." He said after removing the device.

I felt disrespected by his action. So the reason he used that was to identify if I was still virgin because my ex-boyfriend was 10 years older than me.

Yes, this funny guy disrespected me as a lady. He was too awful! That is why I stand in front of him and deeply slapped his thin fair skinned face.

"How dare you to do that!" I loudly said as I walked away because I think he was a pervert guy.
