Chapter 1: New Me

Quitting basketball completely changed the life of Shinji, growing up he was in love with the game. He studied and eventually played it, once he entered middle school the game of basketball had become much more challenging, but he pushed forward, he vowed that he was going to become a top-tier player.

But he soon fell into the shadows, he became a player that was mostly on the sidelines and hardly even getting a hold of the ball. His love for the game was gradually dying out, he didn't know how much longer he would even play for.

Shinji entered high school with high hopes, for 3 years he made sure to play and train as hard as he could. Even if he hardly came on the court or even touched the ball, he did his very best.

But high school was something far worse, people much taller than he played, and people much more skilled than he played, they were undeniably talents that would one day make it to the big leagues.

Just as last time he was put into the shadows, hardly coming off the sidelines or touching the ball. He stayed the same height throughout high school and in his 2nd year he quit. Nobody cared, his quitting didn't change a thing, nobody remembered him even playing the game.

So, could he say that quitting basketball changed his life? Well, to him it truly did. He did everything he could, he trained his body, he trained his skills, he trained his speed, his jumping skill, his shooting skill, his passing skills, but nothing. No matter what he did nothing changed, the coaches barely spoke to him, and he was just cast aside, he knew he was a 3rd-rate player, just some riffraff.

Shinji's life slowly deteriorated, he had never once met a girl that liked him, and even in his later years, he still hadn't. He sucked at academics and wasn't smart at all. So he couldn't achieve anything in that field either. He spent his school years as an introvert, he usually just read stuff like novels and manga. Once he graduated, he spent weeks trying to find a job that wanted him, he finally one and it was a casual convenience store job, it paid poorly but it was all he had.

One day after walking back home late he came across a vacant basketball court and a basketball that was probably left behind. Bored, he picked up the ball and started to around a bit, he missed a lot, and he had grown even worse after not playing for a long time, it was safe to say that he didn't have any talent at all.

Shinji continued to shoot the ball, even practicing a bit of his dribbles, he did some layups and deep three-pointers.

9 times out of 10, he missed. But he didn't care he just kept playing, a smile slowly crept on his face, and feeling confident for no reason, he ran toward the basket, he gathered all of the strength in his legs and leaped from the ground he gripped the ball tight and slammed the ball into the hoop.

It missed and bounced off the rim of the basket. He landed on the ground, and as he gained the balance, he tripped on his shoestring, hitting his head on the ground.

Blood gushed from his head, he could feel himself losing consciousness.

'Is this.....really how I die?'

'No way, I lived such a miserable life. How could I.....'

'I'm scared, I don't want to die....'

'...'

Shinji opened his eyes and found himself standing behind two tall guys, he was confused, he swore that he was just playing basketball ball and....died.

"How?.... Where am I?"

"NEXT!" a girl called out to him in line, he pointed at himself.

"Yes, you!"

He stepped forward, still confused about what was happening.

"Name?"

"Sh-"

But he started to remember a name completely different from his.

"Riku Keiji..."

'Is that even my name? but, why do I remember and know it so clearly?'

"Alright, I got you down, recruitment starts after school, be sure to show up."

"A-Alright."

Riku walked away, memories soon came to him.

Riku was just like Shinji growing up, he fell in love with the game of basketball and started to play it at a very young age. As he entered middle school he realized that he had no talent for the game and stopped completely. But today was the day that he was going to sign back up for basketball, he was going to try again.

"Basketball...once again..."

"I've transmigrated, but what school is this? I've never even heard of it."

"Ayami High School.."

[Welcome.]

"Huh?....is this, so it's true?... I have obtained something like this, just like in the novels!"

[Name: Riku Keiji]

[LVL. 1]

[Height: 177 CM] (2x Growth↑)

[Talent: Very Low]

[Ability: Mirror's Reflection, Sapient Eye.]

[Copied Skills: None]

"I have been given an extremely powerful cheat, with these, I can become a top-tier player!"

"Also, what's this?"

[Kuroko No Basket System]

"So....this world.....it's an anime world? I'll eventually face the generation of miracles and even Kurko himself. But, why am I so excited? Is it because I can't wait to steal their skills?"

Riku had an evil smile on his face, he held back his laugh, a small bit of it spilling out.

"Haha!.... I'm shaking, I can't wait."

Riku walks into school, students of all kinds all over. He went into the bathroom and looked in the mirror, no doubt, he was someone completely different.

He had raven-like hair, his eyes were dragon-like, gold with a snake-like slit. He was quite handsome though, with a well-sculpted face with smooth skin and silky hair, the only problem was that he wasn't that tall. But he had the 2x growth from the system, he didn't know how tall he would grow, but he was just happy he was growing.

In class he took a seat, it felt like just minutes he was in class before school was over. Now, he could go to the tryouts, he wasn't going to fail, he was going to make sure of it.

Wow, I struggled even to put the first word down but I finally did it. My first story and first fanfic. I don't know how well it will do, but please support me and this story. I'll try my absolute best to update frequently. I'm also not the best at writing and still have some small troubles. Also, it's been a while since I've read or watched KNB so I'll have to go and jog my memory on it. I'm open to constructive criticism, not disrespect. Just be mindful of these things and enjoy the read.
