Chapter 6

“Hi. I was wondering if I could pick up some of Luke’s clothes.”

The man frowned and looked between Kace and Stacy.

“He didn’t dare to come himself?” She crossed her arms over her chest.

“He said you didn’t want to see him.”

“I don’t! But I don’t want to see you either.”

O-okay. “Erm…Why?”

“Why? You’re happy now, aren’t you? I guess he’s with you?”

“Showed up yesterday, three sheets to the wind.”

Some of the venom in her eyes bled away. “Not until yesterday?”

Kace shook his head.

“Where’s he been?”

“I have no idea. He’s not talking.” How long since he left the house? Kace glanced at the man again.

“But he’s withyou.”

Kace frowned, not sure what she meant. “He’s at my place right now, but what is this shit about him buying a cabin?”

Her eyebrows climbed her forehead. “What about it?”

“He claimed you kicked him out because he was buying a cabin.”

The man cleared his throat and took a few steps back.
