SHOPPING LIST

Somehow, Hazel got this wrong concept, that this strange man wouldn't be able to read what she thought if she didn't make eye contact with him, but unfortunately, that was not true at all…

"Even if you close your eyes, it will not prevent me from reading your mind, love," Micah looked at her with adoration in his eyes, as he watched how she finally opened her eyes again, since she realized that was not the way it worked.

Hazel opened her eyes again when she heard that. "I saw you… you were a white dog… but then human…" She was having difficulty putting her words together, since the whole thing simply didn't make any sense to her right now. "What are you?"

Dog?

Oh… Micah almost forgot about this moment, where Hazel thought he was a dog, instead of a wolf. She was very certain of what she had seen until he proved her otherwise.

In the past, Micah would be so irritated when he heard that, but now, he found this amusing. He felt like he walked down a path of the memory lane, where there were a few little things which could make him smile but he forgot.

"I am not a dog," Micah replied.

"Yes, you are. I know what I saw."

"I will show you what I am after you drink and eat." And before Hazel could answer him, he already spoke first. "And don't make the same excuse of the food being poisoned again, because I will never do that to you."

Hazel pursed her lips and remained silent. She felt uncomfortable, knowing there was someone able to read her mind. How could that be possible? Probably, she was still sleeping and got trapped in her dreams.

"No, you are not dreaming and if you want, I will teach you how to mask your thoughts," Micah said, as he took a bowl of porridge from the tray. He was going to feed her, since she couldn't use her hand, as she was trapped inside this comforter. "Now, eat."

Hazel furrowed her brows deeply, but because she could feel her stomach was rumbling and the fact that she needed a lot of energy to run away from this man, she ate the porridge, just like what he said. He could have poisoned her when she was still unconscious if he really wanted to kill her.

At first, Hazel only wanted to eat two or three spoonfuls, but then, she ended up inhaling the whole bowl, including a glass of warm milk that he gave her.

And once she felt satisfied, sleepiness overcame her senses. Her eyelids felt very heavy and this comforter was very comfortable.

Especially when this strange man played with her hair, which caused a drowsiness that she couldn't resist enveloped her senses, coupled with the 'delicious' way he touched her that gave her butterflies.

How did he know that it helped her to sleep better when someone played with her hair? Or maybe this was just her overthinking. There was no way he would have known something like this.

Little did Hazel know, this strange man knew more than she could imagine. He always paid close attention to every little thing that she did.

"Sleep, my love, you need to take a rest." Micah kept playing with her hair, watching her fall into a deep slumber until her breathing became so deep. He leaned over and kissed her temple, stayed a little bit longer, as he wanted to savor her scent, her presence. She was everything that he wanted now.

The day was still long when Hazel fell asleep again. But Micah received another phone call from his royal beta.

Jaxon had called him more than a hundred times within the three days he was here, but none of the calls were returned by him.

However, Micah picked up the call on the last ring. "What is it?"

"Micah." Jaxon's voice rang through the device. It was filled with relief and annoyance, but it was easy to say that he was very pissed because his alpha disappeared all of a sudden. "What are you doing inside that house?"

Jaxon knew where Micah was, since he could track down his phone, but every time they tried to enter the house, the alpha would give them a stern warning to not come closer, which left them with no other options but to oblige.

At this time, even the calm and well spoken Jaxon lost his temper. He would have given Micah an ear full if he didn't remember he was the alpha.

If only it was his brother, Archer, who acted like this, the young lycan would have tasted his wrath.

"Come inside, I need to talk to you." And that was it, Micah cut the communication again, not giving any chance for Jaxon to ask about anything further.

"What is it? The alpha told us to come inside?" Archer was sitting next to Jaxon, so he could hear what his brother and their alpha was talking about.

"Hm," Jaxon replied curtly, as he put down his phone and shifted his focus to the information that Archer managed to retrieve. "Whose house is that?"

"That house belongs to Greg Webster, but about two weeks ago, the house was occupied by his second daughter, who lives there alone." And both of them went through the little information they had on this Webster family.

===========================

Jaxon and Archer came to the house, which looked too big to be occupied by a young girl alone. The front door was not even locked, so they could walk in without any problem.

They also managed to find their alpha without any difficulty in one of the bedrooms on the second floor, but when they were about to enter the room, Micah blocked the door.

"Micah what are you doing here?" That was the first question that Jaxon asked him, but instead of answering that, Micah simply handed Archer a note, which puzzled him.

"What is this? A Shopping list?" Archer frowned.
