24 HAPPY NEW YEAR

Micah could hear her confused thoughts as he walked out of the bathroom, which meant she was already awake.

Last night, he had prepared a meal for her, but she fell asleep and did not wake up, despite his attempts. It worried him because he knew that she had not yet eaten anything after eating the breakfast that he made for her early in the morning.

However, seeing how tired she was, he let her sleep throughout the night.

But now, when she finally woke up, aside from her hunger, she was amazed by her surroundings, as she didn't have a chance to look at her surroundings last night.

Her gray eyes, whose color reminded Micah of foggy mornings, glistened with curiosity. He remembered that expression very well the first time he brought her here, but he would never get tired of seeing it all over again.

And now the part which amused him and would never make him feel tired was; listening to her quirky and peculiar thoughts.

Micah walked closer toward her, despite knowing how clumsy she became, as blush spread on her cheeks.

He missed her so badly…

His past life that he had gone through with her, and ended up with her dying in his arms, felt like a horrible nightmare. Like a bad memory in the depths of his soul. A place that he didn't want to visit anymore.

Micah sat down on the edge of the bed, while staring straight at her, with a small smile on the corners of his lips.

When he leaned over to kiss her cheek, which was only an innocent peck, he could hear her heart thumping wildly, as sparks erupted from their skin to skin contact. He loved to touch her…

"The feeling is mutual," Micah breathed out in a whisper into her ear, which made her face even redder.

"What? What feeling?" Hazel became defensive. "You don't know what I feel."

Oh. He knew what she felt… she forgot that part, where he could read her like an open book. No, all of the people like him could read her like an open book. How embarrassing it was!

"Don't worry, I have told them not to read your mind, you are fine now," Micah said in a low voice.

They were very close. Too close for Hazel to be able to have a clear mind when she talked to him. She could even smell the shampoo that he used and of course his intoxicating scent.

Was this because she was hungry, or she had gone crazy to have such a wild imagination? She had never been very much interested in such things, but for some reason, this man could awaken her desires.

Her throat was so dry when she spoke. "Except for you." The man raised an eyebrow in question. "You can still read my mind."

"I find this entertaining," Micah said, smiling at her annoyed expression. "You don't need to be worried, just like I said, the feeling is mutual."

Which one was mutual? The feeling of touching him? To ogle at him like a stupid girl?

"All of those," Micah replied to what she was thinking, which left her mortified.

Hazel was sure that she was not like this when she saw him for the first time. Yes, she indeed found him attractive, but this time he was a thousand times better.

"Because you just woke up and you are confused. You have a lot of things on your mind."

Yes, that could be the answer. Hazel thought, but then she lifted her head and looked at him with wide eyes. "Stop reading my mind!" She then pulled the blanket to hide herself under it, so Micah couldn't see her blushing.

"Aren't you hungry? I thought you woke up because you were hungry." Micah stretched out his hand and picked up the phone there. "Bring it inside," he said into the phone.

Hazel could guess what was the thing that Micah wanted to be brought inside, but when they really arrived and the delicious smell wafted to her nose, despite the blanket that covered her, she couldn't resist but take a peek.

There, she saw three trolleys being wheeled inside by three people and on top of each of the trolleys, there were various delicacies, which left her mouth watery.

"I just need breakfast, you know, not a whole size of a banquet meal…" Hazel mumbled, but her eyes couldn't be unglued from all those foods.

"I know, I just want you to be happy with your breakfast…" Micah leaned in to kiss her forehead.

Hazel was slightly surprised, but it was so natural for him to do that, as if he had done it countless times. He had kissed her cheeks, forehead, lips, neck, within a little bit over twenty four hours, wasn't that too fast? Why did she become so 'easy' when it took her months to be comfortable to share a kiss with Stefan?

But, somehow, Hazel let this man do that. She should be angry, right? Yet, she couldn't find it in her to be angry at him.

"Of course, you shouldn't." Once again, Micah leaned in to kiss her on the lips, but this time, he bit her bottom lip a little bit, since it irritated him when Hazel started to think about another man.

Hazel frowned because there were three people there with them when Micah displayed that kind of affection.

"I will be gone for a while, enjoy your meal, my love," Micah said as he walked into his wardrobe, while the other three people walked out of the bedroom and closed the door behind them.

Hazel was staring at her scrumptious meal, trying to remember when she had indulged herself in fancy food, when from the corner of her eyes, she caught sight of Micah.

He had his back facing her, but when he was about to wear his pants, he simply dropped his towel.

Oh, happy new year for Hazel…
