7 Chapter 7

Kane was looking at the goblin village. It looked like the bandit camp but smaller and with mud huts. It had a log wall that was made much more poorly than the one at the bandit camp. There were goblins with fur loincloths and poorly made weapons all over the place. The village had 2 goblins with spears standing guard. Kane could not see anything that looked like a hobgoblin or a goblin shaman but he was still going to have to be careful. Annius knelt beside him while the legionnaires were behind them. They were hidden behind a group of trees and bushes.

"I need 2 of you to take those guards," Kane said to the legionnaires. "The rest of you will stand shoulder to shoulder with your spears pointed out while entering the village. Annius and I will use our shorter weapons and his shield to cover you from anything thrown at you. If there is unexpected trouble like a shaman or Hobgoblin I will break away from the formation and deal with it. Is that understood?"

"Yes sir!" The Romans said in unison. "Great let's do this!" Kane was grinning while he walked out towards the village followed by the Romans. 2 of the Romans ran to the guards and rammed their pilums into the goblin guard's heads. It was instant death for them. "Good now stand together with your pilums facing towards the village! Annius you cover the 3 on the right I will protect the 3 on the left. If I need to deal with something else give one of the legionnaires your shields. Let's move!" Kane and the Romans marched through the goblin village's entrance. Their arrival was immediately noticed and soon many goblins came to face them.

The Romans looked determined but still had some disgust in their expressions. Kane couldn't blame them because goblins were ugly little shits. But they can be useful. "I should get some goblins in my army," thought Kane. He had a feeling it would not go well with the Romans but goblins had their uses. But all that could be for a later date. Now its time to just kill them.

Kane could see many goblins being pierced by the pilums. It was the right choice to use this strategy. Due to the goblin's short frames, they could get nowhere near Kane and his forces. The only trouble was some of the goblins had slingshots and were shooting his men with rocks. Also, some goblins threw their spears at them. Luckily Kane and Annius did well in blocking the projectiles with only a few rocks bruising the legionnaires. None of the goblins could get past their defenses and the number of goblins was dimming. They were angry and getting more and more reckless. They were no longer afraid of the Romans and constantly ran into the pilums. There were hardly any goblins left and it seemed like there would be no surprises. Kane decided to get into the action so that he could get a chance to level up or at least train with his mace. He ran in between 2 Romans and immediately swung his mace to the right hitting 2 goblins. He dodged another goblin's spear and then turned to the left where the goblin was and lifted it up and brought it back down with all his strength to completely obliterate the goblins head. It was like the head exploded.

"ARGGGHHHHHHH!!!!" The surviving goblins yelled and went turned their focus to Kane. Looks like they wanted to take down at least one person in their last stand. Kane started to swing his mace in circles around him. He turned into a human Beyblade and grinded up all the goblins who came near him. The ones who didn't go near him were stabbed in the back by the Romans who had come up from behind them when they focused on Kane.

"Victory is ours boys!" Kane was beaming. It felt amazing to lead again. It was also fun to do his first bit of conquering even if it was just a goblin village. He was also happy with the system message that appeared in front of him.

"What a lovely reward BOT" Kane immediately put on the cloak. "Now not only am I mysterious-looking but now I am tough, mysterious, and handsome. What a killer combination" He thought to himself. "Now all I need is a mask."

[I suggest you buy better gear for your men as well. Keep the troops happy. I often heard in the history of humans a lot of powerful leaders died due to their own soldier's dislike of them]

"Well aren't you just a sweet little historian BOT," said Kane. "But you do have a point and I also feel like it would be cool to get them some proper Roman armor. I am excited to have my own Roman legion. Anyways buy them proper Roman gear and an armor cleaning kit for Annius so he can get his gear to look in tip-top condition."

[Regular Roman legionnaire gear is 20 points. 6 sets will be 120p. The cleaning kit is 5p. The Host has 570 points to spend. Continue?]

"Thanks, BOT" Kane walked over to Annius. "Here is a cleaning kit for your gear and here is the proper gear for the legionnaire" he gave Annius the rest of the items that he bought from the shop. "Thank you, Lord Kane I shall pass these out to the men. Also, we have searched the village and found 40 copper and everything else is trash." Annius gave his report and handed Kane the copper. "Thanks," Kane said before checking his money in the system.

[Money: 10 gold, 20 silver, 50 -> 90 copper]

"It may not be much but it's something," Kane said to himself before turning to look at his newly dressed legionnaires. He decided to give their old armor to the bandits as it is much better than what they currently wear. First, though he needs a place to station his troops for the time being as he had a feeling that the bandits would find it suspicious if he brought them back. "Let's roll out!" Kane said while leaving the remains of the goblin village with the Romans.
