Chapter 51

"Sir they have not moved and it's the same amount of people as before."

"Good I want the goblins, kobolds, orcs to surround them by hiding in the surrounding trees. If I call for you then you must attack right away. The rest of you will follow me in an orderly fashion. We must show bravery, honor, and might" said Kane.

They had arrived back at the Kokar camp with reinforcements. Kane wanted to greet them as a proper king would but if they turned out to have bad intentions he would make sure to protect himself and make them pay for invading his territory.

Kane ended up bringing 32 crusaders and around 20 fighters from his horde. They were armed to the teeth.

Kane commanded his warg to move and his men to follow him. He had 2 crusaders hold banners with the Deus Belli Empire symbol on them.

He had to mark his territory after all.

Layak Kray was well known for his ruthless way and greedy mind. He had many successful exploits that would always be full of bloodshed and ended with him getting richer and more powerful.

He became a strong leader in the Kokar kingdom and many feared him. His men were just like him and together they would be sent to deal with many of the kingdom's problems. They had become the vanguard of the kingdom.

This new mission was less strait forward than his others ones though. He was told by the higher-ups in the kingdom that he was to head to the Lonely Highland Woods which was the huge forest that surrounded the Iron Rose Kingdom.

At first, he thought that he had to hunt a certain group or bandits or deal with the orcs but that was confusing to him as it should be the Iron Rose Kingdoms problem, not his.

He was surprised to hear that he was to instead scout out the Iron Rose Kingdom. He was excited because it would mean war and he could get many riches out of it. Apparently, rumors said that a mysterious force was now in command of the kingdom and it had fought with the orcs. If true then maybe the Kokar Kingdom could get its claws on it.

Layak brought his forces to make a camp in the forest and sent out a couple of patrols to do some scouting. At first, it was fine but yesterday one of his patrols went missing. This was worrying and also made him very upset.

He had his men work harder and faster on building defenses and had more guards up at night. As you would expect the soldiers were very tired and in foul moods thanks to the new treatment.

"BARUUUUUU!"

While Layak was eating his breakfast in his tent a horn could be heard. The noise of men grabbing their weapons and running toward the area the horn had sounded.

Layak quickly grabbed his sword and ran outside to see what was happening. The alarm was only to be sounded if the patrol came back or if there was some type of danger.

Layak and his men were prepared for an attack after hearing the horn but seeing the intruders he immediately started to sweat.

A force of many well-armed knights came out from the trees. They had crimson armor and held banners with an unknown insignia on them.

Layak was getting bad vibes from what looked to be the leader. Just looking in the person's direction made his blood curl.

The man held a large lance and rode a warg. Not only was it strange but it was frightening as well.

All of Layaks men started to fidget and Layak was unsure how to proceed. It would be best if he could negotiate with these strangers.

Before he even got a word out one of the intruder's warriors came forward and declared something in a loud voice.

"I present Kane the Conqueror, Emperor of the Deus Belli Empire and King of the Iron Rose Kingdom!"
