The Fight

Ichiro and Yui looked at each other, and saw fear and determination in their eyes. They knew they had to make a decision soon. They knew they had to face the consequences of their decision later.

They knew they had to choose between hunting or hiding.

They also knew what they wanted to do.

They wanted to hunt.

They wanted to hunt with Lamb and Wolf, the spirit gods of death. They wanted to hunt the wolves that had chased them, and cornered them in the dead end. They wanted to hunt the wolves that had made their lives end.

They wanted to hunt their enemies.

They wanted to kill.

They wanted to avenge their pain.

They nodded to each other, and answered with a determined voice.

"Yes."

The System smiled in their ears, and praised them with a warm voice.

"Good. I'm glad you have accepted the quest. You have made a brave and noble choice. You have joined the hunt."

Lamb smiled in their eyes, and congratulated them with a happy voice.

"Good. I'm glad you have joined us. You have made a wise and kind choice. You have become our partners."

Wolf grinned in their minds, and encouraged them with a hungry voice.

"Good. I'm glad you have joined me. You have made a fun and exciting choice. You have become my food."

Ichiro and Yui felt a surge of emotion in their chests, as they heard those words. They felt fear and awe, as they realized they had joined the hunt with the spirit gods of death. They felt joy and relief, as they realized they had become their partners. 

They also felt something else.

They felt a change  in their bodies and minds, in their souls and powers. They felt a change that was triggered by their choice.

They felt an upgrade.

They opened their eyes wide, as they saw a new notification before them. They saw a notification that was displayed by the System, who wanted to reward them for their choice. They saw a notification that informed them of their upgrade.

It said:

[Congratulations! You have completed the quest: Hunt with the Kindred.]

[You have gained 1000 experience points.]

[You have gained 100 gold.]

[You have gained 1 item: Wolf's Fang.]

[You have gained 1 skill: Shadow Extraction.]

[You have gained 10 reputation points with Lamb and Wolf.]

[You have leveled up!]

Ichiro and Yui read the notification with awe and disbelief. They couldn't believe that they had completed the quest, and gained so many rewards. They couldn't believe that they had leveled up, and gained a new skill.

They looked at each other again, hoping for some confirmation.

And they got it.

They saw Lamb and Wolf nodding at them, confirming their upgrade.

Lamb tilted her head, and explained with a gentle voice.

"You have leveled up, which means you have increased your power and potential as the Kindred. You can check your status by saying or thinking 'Status'. You have also gained a new skill, which is Shadow Extraction. This skill allows you to extract the shadows of those you kill, and turn them into your loyal minions. You can use this skill by saying or thinking 'Shadow Extraction'."

Wolf grinned, and added with a hungry voice.

"You have also gained an item, which is Wolf's Fang. This item is a trophy from your first kill, which is one of the wolves that escaped from the dungeon. You can use this item as a weapon or as a material for crafting. You can check your inventory by saying or thinking 'Inventory'."

Ichiro and Yui listened to Lamb and Wolf's explanation with awe and curiosity. They wondered how they could use their new skill and item. They wondered what else they could gain from the System.

They wondered what else they could do as the Kindred.

But before they could wonder more, they heard another notification from the System.

It said:

[Warning! The wolves have detected your presence!]

[Warning! The wolves are approaching you!]

[Warning! Prepare for battle!]

Ichiro and Yui looked at the entrance of the alley, and saw the wolves charging at them. They saw their red eyes and black fur, their fangs and claws, their snarls and growls.

They saw their enemies.

They saw their prey.

They saw their food.

They felt a surge of adrenaline in their veins, as they prepared for battle. They felt a surge of courage in their hearts, as they stood up with Lamb and Wolf by their side. They felt a surge of hunger in their stomachs, as they looked at the wolves with malice and hunger.

They felt ready.

They felt excited.

They felt alive.

They looked at each other one last time, and said with a determined voice.

"Let's do this."

They charged at the wolves, and began their fight.
