Neighbor's Visit

CHAPTER 2

Ding dong ding dong the doorbells rang.

It was 5:37 at night. To see who it was, I opened the door.

Creak! It was a woman, about 40's, smiling at me while handing a bowl of pasta.

"Hello new neighbour! My name is Vivian, I live just beside your house…" she said as she pointed at her not so remarkable house, "… I saw you arrived earlier and I decided to cook something for you… uhm a welcome gift perhaps".

Astonished, I accepted the gift and I said, "Wow! I just woke up and food is here. Thank you very much."

I handed out my hand at her ready to receive the meal she offered and told my name, "My name's Avica Morees".

She suddenly looks at me dead in the eye, "Morees? Are you perhaps the daughter of Avana Morees and Nicolas Hepburn?" she spoke.

Baffled, I replied "Y-yes, is there something wrong?"

She paused whilst staring at me, "You're not here to kill these civilians, are you?" she asked.

"Wh-what? Why would I do that?" Disturbed, I smiled awkwardly thinking she must be joking.

She grabbed my right hand and looked at my wrist carefully while I hold the bowl of pasta in my left arm.

She sighed like she didn't find what she was looking for, "Well, welcome. Are you coming to the festive tonight? It's going to be fun" she uttered with ease.

"Tonight? Isn't the celebration should be tomorrow?" I asked timidly.

"Yes but our tradition is to wait until 12 midnight to formally welcome the day of hwa min heorte ist." she explained smiling.

I answered with interest "Oh, okay, I'll try my best to come tonight. Thank-" She suddenly turned her back at me and returned to her house.
