196 Chapter 196: The Story Of Bakkōtō

On the streets of Noble Street, two figures were helping a noble lady to find a cat. If you don't look at the haori worn by one of the figures, it seemed normal, but after seeing the haori on him, the matter looked very weird.

Because that haori was the captain's haori, and on the back of the haori, there was a huge "Five" character written, which symbolizes his status as the captain of the Fifth Division.

*Swish*

Amagai jumped down from a big tree with the help of Shunpo, and grabbed a fat orange cat in his hand. The orange cat was still struggling hard while being carried away by him.

Then he handed the orange cat in his hand to the lady in front of him.

The noblewoman hugged the orange cat, bowed quickly to thank Amagai for his help, "Thank you, Captain Shusuke!"

"It's nothing, don't let it run away next time."

Amagai had a gentle attitude and smiled lightly at the woman.

Immediately, he walked to another woman who had been waiting for a long time nearby, "Hinamori, let's go."

It was Hinamori Momo, vice-captain of Fifth Division.

Since Momo was persuaded by Amagai, she had been following him, the new captain of the Fifth Division, and doing good deeds along with him.

Although this act was not understood by many members of the Fifth Division but Momo firmly believed that with the passage of time, they will understand. During this period of time following Amagai, Momo had discovered that some people still had a grudge against the Fifth Division because of Aizen's defection, but with their act of doing good deeds, they have gradually accepted them again.

The two were about to go to another place to see if anyone else needed help.

A figure dressed in captain haori, with a Zanpakuto hanging from his waist, appeared in front of them.

After seeing this figure, Momo was taken aback for a moment, and a visible feeling of guilt appeared on her face.

During Aizen's defection incident, because she was misled by Aizen, and because of Aizen's letter, she once swore at the figure in front of her, and even drew her sword to attack him. Of course, now she had realized how stupid she had been.

Seeing Mazuru walking towards her and Amagai, Momo's expression became more and more complicated. Finally, after Mazuru stopped, she still mustered up her courage and greeted Mazuru, "Mazuru-sensei."

Regardless of whether Mazuru still recognized her as his disciple or not after what she did that day, she still regarded herself as Mazuru's disciple right at that moment.

"Momo, long time no see, it seems that you have almost recovered." Mazuru greeted Momo, as if he didn't care about the stupid things she did back then.

Then his eyes fell on Amagai next to Momo.

Amagai was a smart person, and immediately realized Mazuru's purpose, "Captain Mazuru is here to find me?"

"Is Captain Shusuke interested in going for a drink with me?"

Amagai was taken aback for a moment, then nodded immediately.

After that, Amagai followed Mazuru to the direction of a tavern. As for Momo, Mazuru asked her to return to the Fifth Division by herself. This was exactly what Momo wanted at that time, although Mazuru looked like he no longer pursued the stupid things she did earlier, but her heart was still filled with guilt, and she was feeling very uncomfortable in front of Mazuru.

Mazuru and Amagai came to a tavern, and found a separate private room.

Amagai didn't drink, and asked Mazuru directly, "Captain Kyo found me suddenly today, what's the matter?"

Mazuru smiled and said, "You can call me by my first name. Coming back to the topic, can't I talk to Captain Shusuke if I have nothing to do? Captain Shusuke has been on Hueco Mundo expeditions all year round, and I am afraid that you are very unfamiliar with today's Gotei 13. As fellow captains, we are colleagues. That's why I thought that we should communicate more."

Amagai was stunned and said, "It is indeed the truth."

Mazuru smiled and poured a glass of wine for Amagai, and poured another glass for himself. Picking up the glass, he said something, "I heard that the young head of Kasumioji family has disappeared."

Amagai was taken aback for a moment, and it was unclear what was going on in his heart but outwardly, his expression was calm, "There is indeed such a thing."

"Speaking of the Kasumioji family, it's really miserable." Mazuru couldn't help sighing: "As a family that forges the royal swords, its status was second only to the four great nobles. Unfortunately, the previous head of the family died shortly after giving birth, and her husband also died shortly thereafter, making the position of head of the family fall on the little girl who was just born… Finally, when the little girl grew up a bit, she disappeared without a clue. If she is found that would be fortunate but if she is not found, it may be a big blow to Kasumioji family."

Amagai listened quietly to Mazuru's narration, and waited until Mazuru had finished speaking before saying, "Captain Mazuru sympathizes with the Kasumioji family?"

Mazuru shook his head and said, "It's not sympathy, but simply because I was reminded an event from the past, so I can't help but feel a little bit emotional. The high-ranking nobles who were second only to the four nobles in the past have declined to such an extent."

"Oh? What event of the past?" Amagai was a little curious.

Mazuru looked at Amagai and asked, "I don't know if Captain Shusuke has heard of the Bakkōtō (Baku-Crossing Sword/Fused Tapir Sword)?"

Hearing this particular term, Amagai's pupils contracted slightly, and his mind couldn't help but being shaken. Immediately, he calmed down again, shook his head and said, "I haven't heard of it. It sounds like a weapon."

"The Bakkōtō can indeed be regarded as a weapon, it's more like a special Zanpakuto. It was a weapon created by the Kasumioji family many years ago. After the head-captain learned about the Bakkōtō, he wanted to investigate the Kasumioji family because the manufacture of this weapon violated some prohibitions of the Soul Society, but the Kasumioji family was a high-class noble family, so the request of the head-captain Yamamoto was unanimously opposed by Central 46."

"In order to find out the specific situation of the Bakkōtō, at that time, a disciple of the head-captain Yamamoto volunteered to sneak into Kasumioji's house secretly, but he was discovered by them, and then he was forced to wear the Bakkōtō on his arm by the people of Kasumioji family. Bakkōtō is a kind of sword that will absorb the spiritual power of the holder endlessly to enhance its own strength. If the spiritual power is not high enough to equip this sword, the wielder will eventually lose his/her will. Therefore, that disciple of Captain Yamamoto lost his mind and was manipulated by the members of Kasumioji family to attack the head-captain in turn. Faced with this situation, the head-captain had no choice but to kill him with his own hands."

Amagai listened to Mazuru's story, and his heart was already surging like a stormy sea. If some details were excluded, he could basically be sure who that disciple of Captain Yamamoto was that Mazuru was talking about.

Immediately, Mazuru said the person's name unhirriedly.

"This disciple of Captain Yamamoto's, was called Kisaragi Shin'etsu. I don't know if anyone still remembers him in the Soul Society today."
