14 Part Fourteen

"Sure!" Joseph's mom replied before they moved to the couch and sat closely together.

"What is it sweetie?" his mom asked gently and wrapped her arm around Joseph.

Joseph took a deep breath before he started to speak, "Mom, I'm in a relationship."

"Oh! That's good. I-"

"Not an ordinary relationship. I'm in a relationship with a boy." Joseph cut her off.

"A... a boy?" his mom hesitated.

"Yes... A boy." Joseph muttered, expecting his mom to get sad.

"I'm really happy that you tell me about it."

Joseph was in a complete shock as he heard that.

"You're happy?"

"Yes. I'm really happy that you trust me and tell me about it," she continued, "You are always my baby no matter whom you've become. I will always support you."

"Mom... Thank you." Joseph sobbed and hugged his mom tightly. Tears in his eyes started to shed.

"Don't cry sweetheart. I will always be there for you." she gently petted his back, just like what she always did when he was a little boy.

"Could you tell me about him?" she pulled away and wiped off the tears dropping from his eyes.

"His name is Nathan. We're in the same class. He has ocean blue eyes and he treats me really well." Joseph's eyes sparkled as soon as he mentioned Nathan.

"It seems like you really like him. I would like to meet him sometime..."

Their conversation went on for a while. Joseph spoke his heart out while his mom played the role of a listener. They had never had a parent-child time since Joseph became a teenager. And now it felt like they had gone back in time and Joseph was still an innocent little boy speaking from the bottom of his heart, full of love and full of warmth.

"It's almost 11 now. I need to buy something from the store and make us lunch. Talk to you later, sweetheart." his mom got up from the couch and left.

Joseph told Nathan the good news after his mom left the house.

Joseph : My mom accept it! She said she would like to meet you sometime!

When Nathan read the message, he was so happy that he almost jumped up from his seat. He immediately replied to Joseph.

Nathan : Really?!?!! I'm super happy for you!! I would love to meet your family too!!

Joseph : I'm extremely excited!! Do you want to come over to my house and have dinner with my family tomorrow?

Nathan : Sure! Why not?

Joseph : Okay! Then see you tomorrow love!

Nathan : See you!

No word could describe the level of happiness that both of the boys had right now. Joseph still could not believe that his mom was lucky enough to be accepted by his mom whereas Nathan was looking forward to meeting Joseph's family.

Time passed away and it was already the next day. It was already 4 p.m. after Nathan and Joseph had finished their lesson. Now they were on their way to Joseph's house.

"My mom is really excited to see you." Joseph said.

"Honestly, I'm a bit nervous." Nathan muttered.

"Don't worry! She's very nice!" Joseph continued, "you will meet my sister too but I'm not sure if Mom told her about you."

"Hmm..." Nathan was a bit worried as he did not know what to say or what to do when he met Joseph's family.

They arrived at their destination and Joseph knocked on the door. A few seconds later, a woman opened the door and greeted the boys with a grin.

"She's my mom." Joseph said to Nathan.

"Hi, Mrs Humphrey, I'm Nathan. Nice to meet you." Nathan said nervously.

"Just call me Linda. Nice to meet you too." she continued, "come in. Let's talk inside."

Nathan then followed Joseph and entered his house.

"I'll get you a cup of tea. Feel free to walk around." Joseph's mom said before heading to the kitchen.

Joseph sat on the couch and Nathan sat next to him. "Don't be scared. My mom is really nice." Joseph said to Nathan.

Although Nathan nodded and smiled, his wringing hands showed that he was still really nervous.

"Thank you." Nathan said to Joseph's mom as she put down a cup of tea on the coffee table.

"You're welcome. Dinner will be ready soon. Just a few more minutes." she said before she went back to the kitchen.

The two boys sat on the couch and waited. Joseph noticed Nathan was biting his lips and looking down.

"You okay?" Joseph put his arm around Nathan to calm him down.

"Thanks." Nathan had a subtle smile on his face as Joseph cuddled closer to him. They both felt the warmth and comfort while being in each other's arms. Joseph laid his head on Nathan's shoulder as Nathan held him tighter as they were enjoying their own moments on the couch together.

"Dinner is ready." Joseph's mom called while putting down plates of food on the dining table.

"Dinner is ready. Let's go eat." Joseph purred to Nathan before they pulled away and headed to the dining room.

Joseph and Nathan sat on the same side of table as Joseph's mom sat on the other side, texting on her phone.

"Mom, where's sis?" Joseph asked his mom.

"I just texted her. She said she will be back in about 5 minutes." she replied, "I guess we can wait for her then."

As they waited, Joseph's mom asked Nathan different things. Nathan always answered them carefully and cautiously, hoping not to say anything wrong.

A while later, Joseph's sister arrived home.

"Hi, I'm Jennifer." she greeted Nathan as she sat next to her mom.

"I'm Nathan. Nice to meet you." Nathan replied.

"Nice to meet you too." Jennifer smiled.

"Now that everyone is here. Let's start our meal." Joseph's mom said before they all began eating. Jennifer kept their conversation going throughout the meal. Her friendliness made Nathan become more and more comfortable. He even tried to talk more about himself.

After noticing that Nathan had become less nervous, Joseph smiled with contentment. He was also very happy to see that his family could get along well with his boyfriend.
