1 Chapter One

Hi Kansas it's nice to see you again." The interviewer said.

"Same here." Kansas said with hesitation. She didn't know what they wanted now. Whether it was good or bad news. She had already flunked the first interview in her eyes did they want her to embarrass herself even more than before?

"Good. I'll ask you a few questions. Nothing you should or could've prepared for. It's questions you already know the answers to." The interviewer said. It was the same words the other interviewer said in the last interview and they were questions she possibly couldn't already know the answers to.

"What is your biggest dream for South Africa?"The interviewer asked. Immediately after the question was asked Kansas lost the nerves and fear because this was a question she definitely knew the answer to. She grinned for a second and said…

"My biggest dream for South Africa is that we reach equality not racial equality but social equality and educational equality and that we as a country we realise our potential and stop stealing from our selves and empower each other. That is my biggest dream for South Africa." Kansas confidently said. You could tell that the interviewer was highly impressed.

"What would getting this scholarship mean to you?" The interviewer asked.

"It would mean I'm not just a nother person with dreams and ambitions that I'll never reach. It would mean everything I have ever hoped for is going to be possible. Getting this scholarship would mean you believe in me and I wouldn't let you down." Kansas answered.

"Um Kansas is there any one with you there?" The interviewer asked.

"No" Kansas answered a bit worried why would she want to know if there is anyone else with her there.

"I am pleased to inform you that you got the Scholarship." The interviewer said with excitement.

"You lie!" Kansas said in disbelief.

8"No you got the Scholarship." The interviewer assured her. Trying to keep her cool and look professional without screaming Kansas put her hand on her mouth and repeatedly said…

"Thank you so much, oh my God!!!"

"Its all you. You were amazing. You deserve it. Congratulations." The interviewer congratulated her.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you so much." She repeatedly said in shock and excitement.

"Tell your family and go and celebrate we will be in touch."

"Okay. Thank you."Kansas eargly said. The moment the interviewer left the meeting Kansas could not help but burst out in the loudest voice ever she started screaming in joy before she knew it tears started rolling down her yellow bone frackled up cheeks. Not knowing which emotion to feel, for the first time in her life she let her body choose and she let it feel every emotion it wanted. See Kansas believes feelings hinder success. She thinks if she let her emotions rule her she would never reach the end goal. But Kansas promised her self she'd change and Kansas never breaks a promise to herself. She told herself when she got the Scholarship she would change school and be a new her. Not the stuck-up genius she is. Of course she won't put her grades at risk because getting an average below 97 percent would kill her with a heart attack or she would probably hang herself. But she wants both worlds to flourish. She wants both a Social life and still be an academia. Her fourth grade teacher told her "You can't have both worlds." But Thabile can do it! But then again Thabile has an 87 percent average. And that's an average Kansas would never! Ever! Ever! Even in her worst nightmares get! So maybe you can't have both worlds. But still she is determined to have them both one way or another!
