Just Your Regular Teen

When I returned to class, there was something poking out of my bag. It was a letter. And inside, it said this "Meet me behind the school after class. I have something to say." And you know what that means right? OF COURSE A CONFESSION! Damn it author! You should've named this "My Popular Phase" HAHAHAHAHA!!! (Sike lol) "It's a bit embarrassing to ask... But..." Here it comes! "Can I have your brother's number?!" Huh? Was it just me, or did she just say 'brother'? I might be hearing things... "It must have been the wind... but I really didn't get what you said clearly..." I asked, using my vocabulary to the fullest. "Cmon... it's already too embarrassing to say... I said .... ummmm... I'd really love it if you shared your brother's number with me... he looks really handsome... so I'm kinda interested in him..." she said, in a crystal clear voice. My name is Dylan. I'm a regular 16 year old. Apparently, Reality decided to be the bitch it is...

Setup For Disaster

"So let's go over that plan on more time alright." I asked Dylan. We had just made an entire plan about how I would casually invite her over for a study session to my house.

"Isn't that kinda sus? I mean imagine Damian inviting you over for a 'study session'. What would you think?" The thought made me run wild.

"O-Of course my Damian wouldn't do something like that ehehheheh but i wish he did eheheh..." I started melting at the possibilities...

"Eew Grossss!!! Chris come back!" Dylan's words pulled me out of my delusion.

"AHEM!!! So what was I saying. Just casually ask her to come over."

"No way that plan definetly has problems and you know it!"

"W-what are you talking about bitchass!"

"You know exactly what I'm talking about, DUMBASS"

"Oh yeah? If you've got a better plan then spit it out!"

There was silence... Then the bell rang.

SHIT.

"Ok listen, I'll be there for this study session aswell. So you can definelty use the excuse of 'friends' being there. You technically aren't lying. So don't forget!" I said and took off.

"IF I COME BACK AND THERE'S NO ONE EXCEPT YOU, I WILL MAKE SURE THE POLICE FIND YOU MURDERED AT YOUR HOUSE!" I yelled before leaving the place.

As I was on my way back to class, I realized something that stopped me dead in my tracks..

I totally forgot about asking him to help me with Damian.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!

Dylan's POV

So with Mission Impossible in hand, I returned back to class. Now the real problem was getting to ask her. In front of the entire class, it would seem like we're in a relationship, which wasn't true and furthermore, it just increase the awkwardness between us. Not a viable option. What about a note?

I took my seat, waiting for the next subject teacher. What were we supposed to be learning? I had no clue whatsoever. But I did know one thing for sure. I was deviating from the task at hand. But there was something weirder about today. for some reason i always felt like someone somewhere was keeping an eye on me.

SUS. this was very SUS.

The teacher suddenly boomed in. "Open your textbooks immediately, we do not have the luxury of wasting time. Our Unit tests are right around the corner.

As if the heavens had blessed me with this opportunity of a lifetime!

"And it looks like everyone except Dylan is apprehensive about it. You should all learn to smile at a challenge like Dylan does." WHY DID HE SAY THAT!

Everyone once again shot daggers at me. And I'm not even a studious guy!!!

Well I guess having a reason to invite Sara over had a cost. But thats okay. After all, this is but a small price to pay for salvation!

"Today we will be working in pairs."

WAIT WAIT. GOD AREN'T YOU FEELING A BIT TOO CONVENIENT TODAY?

I glanced over at Sara. She wore the same bamboozled expression I did. But to my surprise, she moved her table near mine quicker than I could think of it. What was she thinking?

"Alright we need to find the differentials of the given yada yada yada. Each pair will check their partner's paper.

Aw shucks. I hope she lets me off the hook if my answers are wrong!

"H-Hey..."

"HI I'M FINE!!!" I pushed out, but it turned out louder than expected.

"I appreciate your enthusiasm but try to keep it down, Dylan"

Why did I do that? WHY DID I DO THAT?

"Hehehehheh" I heard a familiar snickering beside me, Which was Sara, who, to my suprise was giggling. "Oh umm... sorry..." She quickly apologized

"Why do you have to be such an apologetic mushroom?" I teased her.

"Oh? Umm... Yeah.. sorry..."

"Wait no thats not how your supposed to do it, Sara." She looked clueless

But then realized.

"Oh wait. sorry haha... no... ummm..." She messed up again.

cute.

But how was i going to address the mammoth in the room?

"Just casually ask her. Act innocent."

Here goes nothing I guess

"So umm I have a suggestion. Uhhh... Since the midterms are almost here, I was thinking whether we could study together y'know. Umm.. At my place."

All or nothing...

"I'd be happy to help!" she said with a smile. And just like that, the weird air between us had dissipated.

"Sara and Dylan please focus." The teacher warned us, at which point we had to stop.

But wait. Why was she so accepting of it? Am I the only nervous one here? Or maybe, She was just really innocent unlike me.

Minutes seemed like hours because now I knew she was coming over.

My room was a mess. My bed untidy and the lotion still on the table. I had to make sure they weren't there before she comes.

"Dylan!" the teacher's sharp voice pulled me to consciousness.

"Yessir!"

"Have you done even one of the questions right?

"None at all Sir!

"How lovely!" He paused for a seconds. "I hope you survive the midterms. Otherwise I'm not letting you off that easy, young man.

"Understood Sir!"

This was gonna be tough.

There was one more period left for school. Minutes felt like hours, and Clock looked like it was trying slow down time.

"Psst... hey!" Sara whispered. Strange. considering she's the kinda girl to never get distracted.

"Sup?"

"You seemed to have been invested in some thought for the entire day today. Is everything alright?" So that explains why felt someone was looking at me all the time.

"Well its not just one thought. Its a few heavy ones..." I whispered back.

There was a silent pause.

"Is it... because of wh-what happened last day." I felt the blood rushing to my face. I had managed to keep it under check it felt like she had also let it go. But once it was pushed in my face by the very person who kissed me, I couldn't help but panic.

Cold Wind Blows... (yes i just dropped an eminem pun)

Our whispers were drowned out by the class chatter. But even still it felt as Silent as an empty room. As awkward as being alone. The air between us which was dispelled in an instant returned as intensely as before.

And then the bell rang. Time was up, and i just had to hope that it would be alright. I packed my backs and headed down the hall, but at the entrance, Sara grabbed my hand.

"L-Let's go home together!" my heart skipped a beat.

"B-But why!" That was the stupidest question to ask!

"Just like that, our houses are very close!" she retorted

"People might get the wrong idea!"

That made her stop in her tracks.

"I don't care... what other people think about us..." She responded slowly.

"Ever since I came here, I've been too nervous to talk with people. Boys, even worse. They never cared about me, so I don't care about them or what they think either! But you're different. You're my one and closest friend I've made after coming here! So I don't want my only hope to drift away because of something I did!"

In that moment, Sara looked like the strongest woman, breaking her character with mere words. Her whole expression said 'I'm not taking no for an answer'. And with someone so determined, there was no backing down.

"Alright... you win." I replied.

And we started our walk back home, where a final boss awaited me.

"Sorry... I must have been a bit rude there..."

"I prefer you that way tho."

"What do you mean?" She inquired.

" I mean, you looked hella powerful. Like someone you shouldn't mess with. And I don't mean that you were weak before this. It's just that, If you're more assertive and outgoing with your opinions, you'd make a lot more friends. After all people are attracted to those who stand their ground."

"I never put that much thought into it..."

"Well, you should do so in the future! It helps alot y'know!"

"Yeah I think I'll take your word on that..."

well, im back again ig! But this time ill try better is al i can say! Dw imma make my updates regular!
