268 Not What He Wanted To Say

"Boss?" Number 1 called out to Lia. This was the first time he had seen her halt in the middle of giving instructions. He quickly turned around and found the source to her distraction.

Before Lia could speak another word, Antonio greeted her with a question. Ever since the last time they've parted from her apartment, she hadn't seen him. Rather than asking, Antonio's tone sounded more interrogative as if Lia was obligated to explain what she was doing to him.

"What are you guys doing? Who was the person you had your underlings put into the villa area? What are you planning?" Antonio stopped at a safe distance from where Lia stood.

Number 2 disliked the tone Antonio used and wanted to refute him. However, the moment she wanted to speak up for Lia, her wrist was grasped tightly in Number 1's hand. He shook his head and slowly pulled her away as a form of retreating from the situation.

Number 1 nodded to Lia and whispered, "Boss, we will be at the headquarters waiting for your instructions."

Lia reciprocated the nod, granting them permission to leave. After the two left, her attention fixated on Antonio's figure. "I don't think I need to explain what I do to anyone, Antonio. I have my own tasks and choices. You've always used your perspective to view everything anyway, so there is no point in me giving you any explanation."

"I heard about the commotion at Selina's friend's wedding. I know it was my dad who did all this, but I never expected you to be a part of the mission." He looked at the high walls to his right side.

"There was indeed a commotion that ruined half the wedding. I know Selina's friend was sent to the hospital. If you care so much about this mission, you can go and give them a visit to see how they are doing. However, do not smudge my name on every single mission there is. You know who your dad is looking for and I just happened to have found an elderly stranded on the street who is from this family."

Lia turned around and started walking to the driver's seat of her vehicle. She didn't understand why she bothered clearing up any misunderstandings between them. He had always thought of her differently and she thought she was immune to it already.

"Then do you know whose villa this is? Is it such a coincidence for this to be Selina's mom and dad's villa? You even instructed your underlings while keeping watch for them. If this was a simple picking up a stranger and bringing him home kind of situation, why didn't you just ring their door bell? Obviously, it is because you can't do that." He argued.

Lia sighed and slouched slightly in a tired manner. "Then whatever Young Master Antonio wishes to conclude from this, you may continue. You just want to tell me no matter what I do or did, it is all wrong and that I can't distinguish the good from the bad. If that is the case, you are the last person who can judge me. Please don't interfere with my business. It has nothing to do with you."

Taking another step forward without turning back to face him, Lia finished what she wanted to say to him. "If I wanted to harm anyone, they wouldn't exist already. Why should I make slow moves when I can easily make them disappear using my abilities? Have you ever thought about that before?"

Since she already said what she needed to say, she entered her vehicle and drove away without giving Antonio a chance to refute her. Antonio frowned at the sight of her vehicle leaving. Ever since they've slept together, he felt a sense of guilt when he thought about her.

There were countless times where he held his phone tightly and opened up to her messages, but he couldn't find the courage to send her a message. He sighed, stuffing one hand into the front pocket of his jeans. "This wasn't what I wanted to say..."

He wanted to have a talk with her peacefully, but whenever he finds her doing something, he always ends up saying the wrong things that would push her away. Perhaps, he was too familiar with her and had gotten used to jumping to conclusions.

Distant voices brought Antonio back from his deep thoughts. He looked towards the villa and heard guards shouting about finding en elderly in the garden. Shaking his head, he quickly turned around and left the scene to avoid any suspicions.

Selina awakened to her phone's ringtone. She gasped, sat up in bed and held her forehead from head rush. "Hello?" She muttered without looking at the caller ID.

"Selina!" Rosanna called out her name.

"Mom? Wait, what..? You found Grandpa Lun?? How? Where? When? I thought you guys sent out your men to look all over the place and couldn't find even a trace of where he was located. Where did you guys find him?" Selina massaged her temple as she responded to her mother. Hearing the exciting news, her eyes jolted open.

Hurriedly, she pulled her blanket off her body and ran to the study room to find Jason and tell him the great news. In the middle of his discussion with the guys, Selina barged in while announcing the great news. She didn't expect everyone to be present when she spread the news.

"Oh! You're all here too! We found Grandpa Lun! He was somehow asleep in my parent's villa's garden. The guards didn't realize someone had snuck in, so we don't know who did it. Grandpa Lun is healthy and safe. He wasn't harmed at all!" After learning about Grandpa Lun's whereabouts, Selina sighed in relief.

"...So he was kidnapped and then released? Nobody got a call for ransom and he wasn't hurt either. So...What was the whole point of kidnapping him in the first place? He wasn't harmed at all and was asleep peacefully. This sounds so fishy." Jason pointed out.

As relieved as they were with Grandpa Lun being safe and sound, they couldn't help but wonder what the kidnapper wanted to begin with. However, since the elderly man was safe, they could finally get a good rest.
