222 Finally back?

"True, I hope Kyla is alright. I heard she felt sick for a while, but she didn't want to talk about it. Isaac must be working on some important project to neglect everyone like that." Celinda commented as she rummaged her bags to make sure she was distributing the right souvenirs.

"Mhm. I wonder when he will be back from his trip, though. It's been a while..." Selina took her souvenir and thanked Celinda as the girls continued wondering what was going on with Isaac. They were worried about Kyla's condition because she hasn't shown improvement.

- Kyla's Condo -

It has been almost two months since Isaac left for overseas to deal with business matters. For the past weeks, Kyla has been trying to FaceTime and call him whenever the time difference seemed right. Her appetite has gotten worse, and she couldn't see a doctor. Sometimes she would have a strong craving for certain foods that she normally wouldn't touch. Other times, she would order for delivery and lose appetite once the food arrives.

While lying on the couch, she caressed her stomach in a clockwise motion. She had no interest in eating anything because whatever she swallowed would be thrown back up. Forcing solids and liquids down her stomach only made her body react stronger than before.

Glaring disappointingly at her phone, a hint of annoyance was evident in her stare. Her thumb touched the cold screen and scrolled down the red call logs since this morning. For weeks, she hasn't received any calls nor FaceTime requests from him.

She stayed up till late at night and early mornings to call him, but he didn't pick up the calls. Sometimes, he messaged back telling her he was busy. At other times, he didn't bother sending any replies.

"Isaac, you better have a good reason for doing this, or else it will not be easy for you to pacify my anger this time." Although Kyla knew how bad her mood and temper has become, she still tried holding back her negativeness. With great difficulty, she fell asleep. When she woke up later, she realized Isaac came home. He was in the kitchen, preparing some dishes for dinner.

The fragrance of the dishes nearly made Kyla sick to the stomach. She couldn't stand the fatty meat and ran to open the windows for ventilation. Hearing sounds from the living room, Isaac walked out to see Kyla airing the living room out.

He smiled, "you're awake. Dinner will be ready soon. Take a seat." He didn't notice her odd behavior and continued making the dishes. Meanwhile, Kyla pressed her palm against her face, trying her best not to vomit again. Her eyes reddened when the sour and bitter vomit taste filled her mouth.

Soon, dinner was ready and Isaac came out to prepare the diner table. He spotted Kyla sitting with her eyes closed. "Dinner is ready, let's eat." The smile he had earlier lessened as he noticed her cold attitude.

He observed her from a short distance before tugging her arm gently to get her up from the couch. However, all he received was a chilling pair of eyes and an unmoving body on the couch.

Sighing, he took a bowl of rice and a variety of foods from the dining table. He walked towards the couch and sat in front of her. Slowly, he blew the spoonful of rice and brought it to her lips. After a minute later, her lips remained tightly closed. She also averted her gaze.

"Honey, I spent my afternoon making these foods for you. Are you really not going to take a bite?" He tried coaxing his fiancée while tempting her with food. In the past, she never wasted food no matter how angry she was. Today, something was different from usual.

He sighed and attempted to explain the situation to her. "Kyla, I've been neglecting you for the last several days and I didn't mean it. You know you are more important to me than anything else. I really had an emergency overseas that I needed to deal with. I'm sorry for leaving you alone for so long. Will you eat dinner and forgive me? I'm tired from riding the plane for long hours."

Hearing his response, Kyla's sharp gaze locked with his pleading eyes. She moved away from the spoon and asked. "No matter how busy you are, you would not answer my calls. Even if you were busy, then what about after work? Don't tell me you worked 24 hours a day and every second for the past weeks." She bit her lips pitifully.

"Also, it wasn't days, but weeks! You could've called even for a minute and told me you were okay. You could've messaged me back once in a while, but have you? No, you disappeared on me, and I couldn't find you."

Only she knew how worried she was when he suddenly stopped replying to her messages. "Do you know how bad that feels? Do you have any idea of how it feels to stay home and face four walls while waiting for someone whom you have no idea when they would be home? What? You think a homemade dinner would fix everything?" Kyla spoke strictly without yelling, but her fists were wrinkling the sides of her clothing.

"Kyla, I've already told you that I was working. You know about my business and how I started expanding internationally. Everything is unsettled and just calmed down. Can't we talk about this later? Doesn't coming home and cooking for you show you my sincerity? I also apologized, so what else could I do? How about I spend the next week off with you?" He felt fatigue from dealing with business projects and some other issues. When he faced her furious expression just now, he really wanted to shout his frustrations.

However, knowing how hard it must've been on her while she waited for him at home, his heart softened. His tone lowered in volume and sounded much gentler than before. "You were sleeping earlier and just woke up. How about eating first? Your meal is more important." He tried calming her emotions once again.
