Gabby's Decision

EXT./INT. GABBY'S HIGH SCHOOL - MORNING

Students are heading towards the front doors of a high school while there are others who are wondering and sitting around.

Gabby is walking towards the entrance and heads inside. She passes by students who are by their lockers. Gabby arrives at her locker and opens it to put in a few books in. Then shuts it. Her best friend, ABBY PAFFORD, age 17, appears. Abby is Gabby's best friend since they were babies. She's very supportive of her best friend. They're practically sisters.

ABBY (smiling): Morning Gabby!

GABBY (smiles): Mornin' Abby.

ABBY: Long and boring weekend?

GABBY: Long and boring.

The two girls head towards their homeroom.

ABBY: So what ya' do?

GABBY: Another teacher and daughter bonding event.

ABBY: How bad was it?

GABBY: He took me and mom to the movies.

ABBY: Movies? Well that couldn't have been all bad.

GABBY: To see a horror film. I hate horror films. I put up with it because my mom was watching it.

ABBY: Yikes. He had just earned another bad point in your book, huh?

GABBY: You said it. He should have asked mom what kind of movies I like. But instead he brings the both of us to one of his own favorites.

ABBY: Man, he's really trying hard to get into your good side.

GABBY: Which will be never.

Abby laughs.

ABBY: Though you have to admire his determination.

GABBY: True.

The girls arrive to their class. They went to their seats and then their Geography teacher, Jessica Johnson, comes in.

JESSICA: All right class, open your textbooks to page 258.

The students open their textbooks.

JESSICA: Okay, we'll be continue on Japan.

She walks to the front of the black board and puts up a map of Japan.

JESSICA: Japan has so much history along with its many attractions that make many tourists got to. Not to mention the most popular attraction: the Tokyo tower. However there's another popular place that most suicides' go to: The Suicide Forest. True to its name, it's a forest where people wish to disappear. I advise you not to go into the forest unless you wish to explore it and not end your life there.

Gabby taps her pencil on her notebook as an idea begins to form in her head.

INT. GABBY'S BEDROOM - NIGHT

Gabby is on her laptop, searching for information on the Suicide Forest. She plans on going there. Then she hears a knock on her door.

GABBY: Who is it?

PATRICK: Hey Gabriella, can we talk?

GABBY: It's Gabby.

RHEA: Gabby, can we come in?

GABBY (Sighs): Fine.

She closes her laptop.

PATRICK GREYSON and RHEA MCKENZIE (Gabby's mother) enter Gabby's room.

RHEA: Gabby, we were wondering what you're going to be doing for summer break.

GABBY: Why?

RHEA: Well Patrick and I would like you to join us on a camping trip.

GABBY: No thanks.

Rhea sighs.

PATRICK: Gabby, your mother and I would like you to come. It'll be fun.

GABBY: I don't want to be the third wheel on your trip. So I'll just stay with Abby while you go on your trip.

PATRICK (sighs): Well, let us know when you change your mind.

Rhea and Patrick leave the room. Patrick shuts the door behind him. Gabby opens up her laptop again.
