Chapter 32 - The Family Reading

Lawyer Fu step forward and addressed the crowd while the main family was ushered out of the room into the Old Madam's home office where everything has already been set up.

An Fei turned to her Grandaunt Susu on her left and look at her with a stern look on her face.

"GrandAunt, make sure that no one leaves the house without informing me, else I will not speak to you guys ever again."

"I understand Dear. Go on. We will wait here for you."

Beside them, Grandfather Shen walked over to the back of the room where Chen Xin was sitting. He grabbed him and without saying anything pulled him into the office where the rest of the family is.

Following behind them, An Fei was puzzled why is Chen Xin not going in on his own. He is the Grandson in law too. Brushing it aside, she walked in and saw an altar with her Grandmother's photo had been set up facing the door. She saw that everyone is already in but no one stepped forward to pay any respect.

She walked forward towards the altar where Lawyer Fu and his assistant stood. Understanding immediately, the assistant took out the incense and lit it for her. Behind her was Chen Xin whom had put on a solemn face and was not sure what to do. When he saw her walking over, he followed behind to do the same.

Taking the incense from the assistant, An Fei and Chen Xin step in front of the altar and kneels down paying their respects.

Those relatives who were about to complain about the delay stopped as they paid their respect to Old Madam Shen before taking their seat and wait patiently for the will reading to start.

Standing beside the altar, Lawyer Fu cleared his throat getting the attention of everyone in the room.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, in order to not delay anyone, I will be reading the will out to everyone right now and please refrain from asking any questions or making an comments. We would like everyone to take their seats and settle down. We will begin in a minute."

As the last of the group settled down, everyone was solemnly waiting for Lawyer Fu to begin.

"I will be reading the Last Final Will of the late Madam Shen-An Ting dated XX-XXX-XXXX to her family present today. Please note that this reading will be recorded and the camera is at the back of the room. This is to ensure that proper process had been followed through out so as to prevent further disharmony and dispute."

Clearing his throat and taking a sip from the bottle next to him, Lawyer Fu began.

"To all my family present for this will reading, I, Shen-An Ting would like to offer my sincere apologies for leaving everyone behind. The below is the agreed distribution between me and my husband, Shen Wei Xiang, of my remaining assest to my family.

"First, all properties will be given out to everyone present today for the reading with the exception of 5. The Main Shen Family home shall remain under the name of my Husband, Shen Wei Xiang. Four property of equal value located in XXX, XXX, XXX and XXX will be given to my four sons and their decendants.

"The remaining properties located at XXX, XXX and XXX will be sold to any of my decendants at 30% discount. If no agreement can be met, the properties will be sold to Ji Li Investment Firm and the moneies received will be distributed to all relatives, distant or otherwise, and family in equal portion.

"Next, I would like to gift my collection of Antique books in my office to my ever curious and inquisitive little Great Grandson Shen Jun Feng. May you be able to get your answers from there. On top of this, a trust fund of $1.5 million have already been in place for you since your birth. The funds with interest will be available to you on your 21st birthday.

"As for my other Great Grand Children that might be coming or yet to be born, everyone will be getting a $2 million trust fund upon their birth. From now until then, the total amount of $20 million are placed with Ji Li Investment Firm. Plese speak to Lawyer Fu and his team after a child is conceived to reserve their share on first come first served basis.

"Next, for my Grandchildren, Children and Husband, I would like to leave everyone with the shares of my company, Shen Enterprise of total 65%.

"For all my Grandchildren and Grandchildren in law, with no favouritism to anyone, I would like to leave you 1% each of Shen Enterprise shares which will be of great value in the furure. On top of this, for my cash investments with Ji Li Investment Firm will also be given to all my Grandchildren and Grandchildren in law in equal parts. This should amount to $1-2 million with the investment returns. As for Chen Xin, since your wife is no longer with us, you will also be getting her share.

"For my Sons and Daugthers in law, I would like to leave everyone with 4% of Shen Enterprise shares. An Fei will be getting the shares that will be given to my missing Son and Daugther in law, Shen Hao Tian and Yang Si Ting which is only fair as it was because of Hao Tian's hard work, the company is where it is now."

At this moment, Lawyer Fu decided that this is a good place to pause to see what is the reaction of everyone.
