Chapter 29 - The Family History

The segregation in the room was very obvious. On the left was all the richly dressed while on the right was those from the old villiage that the family originates from.

Seeing this segragation, Grandfather Shen and An Fei walked towards the right and the extended family make space for them to sit in the front. Looking around, Grandfather Shen spotted Chen Xin and gestured to him telling him to move forward. He choose to stay behind and ignored that old man.

Glancing at her Grandfather and seeing that, she was amused by that. She didn't know the Chen Xin now would disobey this Grandfather of hers.

Lawyer Fu was standing at the front with his team and cleared his throat gathering the attention of everyone on him.

"Thank you everyone for coming. Old Madam Shen had requested for everyone to be present today as a family gathering and she hopes that in the event that anyone were to bumb into anyone in this room on the streets is able to recognise each other and prevent a real life Korean drama from happening on the street. Please refrain from throwing any accusations around as everything that is spoken of during this session will be recorded as a proof.

"The old Madam also wish that no matter what happens, no one is allowed to contest the contents of the will. If all are agreeable, please take a look at the agreements that we are handing out. Do endorse on the agreement and hand it over to my staff and we will proceed from there. If anyone is not willing to sign the agreement, feel free to step out of the room and your share of the inheritance will be distributed to the others that are still present."

The room was suddenly filled with voices from the crowd. A number of them felt that this is very ridiculous and because they wanted the inheritance, they just signed and stayed in the room.

"Your Grandmother really put in a lot of effort in regards to this. I wonder how long did she used to plan this whole thing and how much more dramatic is this going to get."

"Grandfather, you know how scheming some of my uncles are. I can totally understand why she did this. In order to protect the ones that she is planning to hand the inheritance to, this is the least she can do to make sure of this."

Looking towards her Uncles, she saw that a number of them are discussing what to do at that moment. She can't believe that they are her family members.

When her parents went missing after a business trip, she was only 2 years old and none of them offered to take her in. Instead they pushed her around from one family to the next and she had to move every other week.

During that time, the Shen Enterprise is expending and her Grandparents had moved over Country S to oversee the new branch and was not aware of what was happening back home. When they found out about this, An Fei had already suffered for a year being pushed around.

When she saw her Grandmother, she clinged onto her and never let go ever since. That was when her Grandmother brought her around with her. An Fei practically grew up in the Shen Enterprise office until she was 14 where school became more hectic and Chen Xin happened to step into her life.

After she faked her death 3 years back, the Uncles and their family took turns coming over to the Mansion and pressured both Old Master and Madam Shen to give up their shares of the company and to split the assets amongst the brothers.

Two year ago when her Grandmother was diagnosed with late stage brain cancer, the uncles and cousins has been shamelessly coming over to the Masion and placed more pressure on them to force them to do so. Instead of succeeding, An Fei came back with the identity of a long lost twin daughter of her parents, who was kidnapped when she was a couple of weeks old. At that moment, the doctors has advised the old couple that she needs more rest and peace and quite to recover. So they banned the family from visiting the main house ever since the move.

Knowing that the uncles will be suspicious of her, her Grandmother had fabricated reports and witnesses to make sure that her own Granddaughter would be able to step into her house with no grounds of opposition.

Even so, the uncles have been scheming to get her out of the Mansion as they feel that she is not eligible for anything that the Old Couple has. The scheming went from threats to assassinations and all were found out by her Grandmother and because of this, her Grandmother's condition got worst and was bed ridden for a few weeks.

Grandmother Shen had enough of her children, she consulted Lawyer Fu and they issued an official legal documents that dictates in the event that anything were to happen to An Fei, herself or Grandfather Shen, she will be sending all the evidence that she had on her hand about the different assassination attempts and send it all the the police.

Since than, the scheming had lessened. But there are still some that are ongoing that was picked up by Pamela and handled discreetly.
