1 Chapter 1 - Awaken

Beep…beep…. beep…

The sound of the electrodiography filled the lonely, empty room indicating that someone was in there; a woman, laid on the bed peacefully with her arms resting above her abdomen. Her skin was as pale as a corpse, people would have thought that she's dead. She had tubes all the way from her mouth down to her throat. Another one in her nose from the oxygen tank.

A nurse entered the cold room quietly, with files on her hand to check the young woman sleeping on the bed. As the nurse scribbled down the poor woman's condition on her report paper, the woman who was unconscious opened her eyes slowly revealing her dark hazel orbs. Her eyes widen as she stood up – panicking.

She felt unpleasant with the feeling of something foreign inside her throat. At this moment, the nurse was astounded seeing her waking up out of nowhere. She quickly went outside, calling a doctor. She holds the tube that was on her mouth and started to pull it out slowly, it felt sickening as the tube was pulled out from her throat. She gagged once the tube has finally got out and barfed a little bit. She doesn't recognized the place and began to panic. She noticed another tube that was inside her nose and pulled it out too.

A man, wearing a white coat and an indigo turtleneck with round glasses entered the room making the young woman frightened. She went to the corner of the room beside her bed, shivers in fear. She was scared, she doesn't know where she is, how she got here, why she is here and even worse; she doesn't even know who she is. The doctor walks towards her trying to calm her down but instead he received a scratch on his bare hand. Her nails are long enough to make a minor wound. The doctor quickly reacted and winced in pain.

"Calm down, miss. We are not going to hurt you." The doctor said in a husky, gentle tone that would make any girl melts by this voice.

The woman gets even more frightened and attempted to escape from that place, she dashed from the corner towards the door without any warning making the two people in front of her surprised. She smashed the door open and went outside; crowds filled the hallways. She turned left and run as fast as she could trying to escape from this horrid place.

"Get her!" The man from earlier shouted.

This is making the girl even more terrified and starts to increase her speed. She saw a door leading to the stairway and ran towards it. As she was about to open the door, pair of hands grabbed her arms roughly stopping her to escape. She resists hardly as the person behind her dragged her slowly backwards. She kicked to the air making the man loses his balance. The woman was freed for a moment until more hands grabbed her to stop her.

She screamed making a shrilled voice that

could make anyone's eardrum explodes. The nurses tried their best to calm her down, one of them injected anesthetic on her thigh but she was still struggling.

"This is impossible! Quick! Inject another dose!" one of them shouted but before the second dose was injected, he could feel a sharp pain on his arm; the girl is biting on him hard causing blood to come out. The man screamed in pain and pushed the girl's head to open her mouth. The second dose finally got injected, now the woman loosened her grit on the nurse's hand. Feeling all numb, her visions was puddled by black spots. Next was darkness.

Something was tied on her ankles, thighs, torso, wrists and neck. It was so tight except for the one on the neck. The woman's eye shot opened by the pain, she struggles to open the straps then gave up realizing it was useless. Scanning the room; it is a different room this time, there is an air humidifier next to her. Releasing a relaxing smell of lavenders. The door was opened, it was the doctor; he had a sandy blonde hair, combed to the side. He then proceeds to sit on the chair that is next to the tied-up woman.

"Are you okay?" he asked in a concerned tone. The woman thought that, why would he thinks that she is fine when she is tied-up on a steel bars with no blanket in a freezing room. She didn't replied him, instead she looked at him from the corner of her eyes and saw a tag on his left upper pocket around his chest: 'Dr. Oz'.

The doctor sighed, "Do you happened to know your name?" the woman was shocked when he asked this, what does he mean he doesn't know her name? Is she a foreigner who ended up here without any single information about her? She shook her head indicating that she doesn't know who she was. The doctor's eyes widened up by her reply, he asked her again but the girl was serious that she doesn't remember a single thing about her.

"I am sorry for tying you up like this, you went rampage few days ago and hurt one of the nurses. Ha-ha." Few days ago? The woman thought.

"Well then, since you don't have a name. Let's think of a temporary one, you wouldn't want to be called by weird nicknames, right? Humm." He paused to think. "Ah, let's call you Jun then, without an 'e'." The woman had no interest in her new name at all, she just goes with the flow. Doctor Oz then stood up from his chair and untied the poor woman who has been on the cold, uncomfortable steel bars for days. Next, he took out some winter outfits: a chestnut turtleneck, a raven colored cloak and a bootcut jeans along with a hazel knitted scarf matching her eye color.

"You can change there." He pointed to a fitting room next to the toilet. He gave Jun a warm smile then went outside. As his presence has gone, Jun's wrist itches in pain. Red bruises can be seen on both her ankles and wrists making her frown. Her feet landed on the freezing floor making her flinch, she quickly took the clothes that was given to her and proceed to change her hospital gown.

Sliding off her gown, revealing her skinny and pale petite body. A rough sensation making the gown vibrated a little bit when she took it off, she checked her body to know what it was; a huge scar on the side of her thigh. Jun gasped and wondered what had happened to her, she expect that the doctor would tell her.

Opening the curtain of the fitting room, she then casually walks on the bed.

"You're done?" a familiar voice could be heard, the sandy haired man entered the room. He had papers with some files this time. He walks towards Jun with big strides ad arrived with only few steps. Sitting on the red chair, he began to flip open his file that filled with a lot of papers. He then spoke,

"Alright, I am going to tell you." His baby blue eyes made contact with her dark hazel orbs.

"…We found you from a plane crash, it was an unknown plane. The police assumed that you tried to enter USA illegally by the crashed jet…." He hesitated at first but he said it in the end, a worried face was plastered. He sighed, "This happened 5 years ago, we found you about 5 years ago."

The woman's orbs widen, shocked at the statement. 5 years ago? What? She couldn't believe it at first but listened to the doctor as he continues,

"Yes… You were in a coma for 5 years. You had major injuries which probably you have seen it when you were changing earlier; the thigh. We tried our best to fix the tissues and arteries there, we were surprised that you managed to survive after the major loss of blood and six hours of surgery. Eventually, when we found you. Your head got hit and bled which probably the main cause of your memory loss or maybe it was caused by the trauma that you experienced beforehand."

Jun tightens her grip on the knitted scarf. She didn't know how to feel or react, the fact that she's in America explains the appearance of the doctor.

"I am not from here? Am I?" The woman finally spoke, her voice was hoarse. A hint of fear or sadness was in it. The doctor shook his head making the woman let out a long breathe.

"However, since you are awaken now. We would like to bring you to the police headquarter to file your case, they might be able to help you looking for your home country. Ah, yes. Judging from your appearance, you might be Asian. One of the female staffs here said that there is possibility that you are Korean. I was surprised that you could speak in our native's language." He smiled showing his dimples at the poker-faced woman trying to cheer her up by the information that was given.

The dark-haired woman only looked down, she was blank. After a while, she then realized that when she speaks inside her mind; it was a different language. But she doesn't know what it is. She then spoke,

"I speak differently in my mind… I am not sure of what it is…" she spoke softly, the men tilted his head and took out his phone. Screen flashed from the telephone revealing a fluffy white cat with a crown on its head. This made the girl smiled in awe. The man then swipe the screen using his finger. It moves? The woman thought. Continued on swiping, a white screen appeared with the letter 'G' on the corner of the screen.

Jun thinks that technology became advanced during she was in a coma. Dr. Oz straightened his posture and bring his phone a bit closer to his face. Now, the woman couldn't see what he's doing. Jun was eager to see what was going on so she stood up and peeks from Dr. Oz's back. The doctor could feel a light faint from his neck, she was too close to him. He didn't mind though. Tapping the keyboard beneath the screen, he typed: translate.

"Okay, now speak using the language that was in your mind. Try to say, 'I am Jun, what language is this'." He looked at Jun who was behind him. She opened her mouth and began to speak in another native's tongue. Dr. Oz was recording it while she talks. Once the woman finished talking, the man translated it using google and it says; it is Korean. They have confirmed that she's Korean.

"The nurse was right then, you are Korean." He stated while smiling at the woman who was quiet after she just spoke the sentence.

"Ah, you actually can leave the hospital since you are already fine." Wait, she doesn't have a place to stay- Vin you idiot! He thought. "W-well, if you are okay with it, you can stay at my place. I don't mind." He said as he smiled wryly at her. You just met her! People will find it suspicious Vin! He was arguing with himself in his mind.

"Sure."

"Eh?"

"Sure, you said you don't mind." Jun says boldly making the doctor regret his decision, well maybe.

"Uh, okay then." He wasn't sure if it is a good idea, oh well, let's just help her, Vin.

Waiting for the doctor outside with the chilly weather, Jun had her hands inside her pocket to keep them warm. Her hands were so stiff as if it was frozen by some sort of magic. She couldn't stop shivering too.

"Jun! I apologize for making you wait during such weather ha-ha, I have to say goodbye to all the workers and yeah… Are you okay?" He asked at the woman who was shivering and shot him a glare. Vincent was a little scared at how powerful her glares can be. Moreover, her eyes really show her emotions: fear, happiness, anger, confusion, boredom.

"Let's go to my car and get warm, we don't want you to freeze to death" Ignoring the glares, he walked to the parking lot with Jun following him from behind. He took out his keys and clicked a button that made a car flashes its front light along with a sound. He opened the car's door, letting the freezing woman enters first.

"Ladies first." He said while smile coyly at her. Jun entered the jet-black Ferrari Portofino while rubbing her icy hands. Once she was seated, the door was closed and the doctor proceeds to enter to the driver's sit. He told Jun to fastened the seatbelt, he started the engine and turned on the heater. Cars have heaters now? Jun placed her hands on where the heats comes out melting her frozen fingers. After everything was settled, they began their journey.

On their way, Jun was wowed of how tall the buildings are. She would point on a specific building and asks what kind of people is in there. He thought that her inquisitiveness is adorable, he smiled while answering all her questions.

"Dr. Oz" she suddenly speaks.

"Ah, you can call me Vin. My name is Vincent Oz Thompson." He stopped his car, they have arrived at the destination. Before they buckle the seatbelts, Jun asked him a question.

"You use your middle name?" the sandy haired man let out a nervous laughter, not answering her. Leaving Jun unanswered and confused.

Dr. Oz opened the passenger's seat; where Jun was sitting. "We have arrived miss." He smiled sweetly at the woman. Jun took a step out and gazes at the tall building. This is his's? She thought. Trailing the doctor, they finally entered the elevator. It was drop pin silence. Jun were just staring at her own reflection on the elevator's 'wall'. Unbeknownst, the other person was feeling extremely awkward. Cold sweats triple down from his temple.

Ding, they have arrived at the 16th floor. Dr. Oz and Jun walked out from the elevator. Both casually walks on the mesmerizing hall; designed with cranes and bonsai trees, waves. Pink and red crawls from the floor, making the woman amazed by how minimalist it is. Distracted by the designs, Jun wasn't focused where she walks till, she bumped on the sandy haired man. The man let out a chuckle. "We're here, just make yourself comfortable." He smiled at the embarrassed woman. He inserts a key inside the keyhole, turned it then he door is opened. He was going inside but then he halted, turned around and let the woman enters first. Jun made her way to enter the warm apartment. She scanned the whole room, it was a simple room. Vincent closed the door and took of his coat, hanging it on the coat rack. Seeing that Jun is sinking by observing the room, Vincent took long strides and pat her shoulder making the petite woman flinched by his action.

"Deep in thought?" He said, a smile was plastered on his face. Jun turned around and looked at him, a hand was offered to her which made her confused. My hand? She thought. The woman decided to put her hand on his, seeing her putting her hand on Dr. Oz made him laughed. The girl was silent and remained confused.

"Jun, give me your coat. I'll hang them there." He pointed his finger on the coat rack. Oh, so that what it means. That was quite embarrassing. She whispered to herself. Jun handed her coat to the man. "You may sit first." Dr. Oz said as he put away the coat. As what he said, Jun decided to sit down on the caramel sofa. She noticed that the room is mostly brown. Done putting the coat, Vincent made his way to sit opposite of Jun. It was silence for a moment until Jun asked a question, "This building is yours?" The doctor raised an eyebrow then let out a laugh.

"No."

Jun made an 'o' shape on her mouth. Then asked variety questions to him, the man was pleased with her questions and answered all of them. Likewise, he too, asks questions to Jun. However, having her lost her memories. He wouldn't be able get a lot of information about her, yet he still enjoys talking to her. Too bad today might be the last of having her with him.

Night has come, it is time for dinner. Jun was invited to eat dinner with Vincent, this night, they're having pasta for dinner and red velvet for desert. The sound of cutleries clanks against the ceramic plates filling the quite room. Jun, sitting at the opposite side of Vincent; wearing a dark brown turtleneck and a long cream skirt. She noticed the clothes that the man gave is mostly shades of brown, which she found it quite odd. Even the flower pattern on the plate is brown. She then perked her heads up and opened her mouth. When Jun said 'doctor', the man stopped her. He stared her deep in the eye trying to signal something which made the woman took a long time to understand what it was.

"Vin" Just hearing that made the man opposite her pleased. He replied, "Yes?"

"I noticed that almost your stuffs are brown in color, do you happen to like the color" Jun asked while looking around the dining room; brown curtains designed with silk polka dots, chocolate chairs with cupids designed on it, the wood colored furniture. Everything is in shades of brown. It took a while for Vincent to answer her, until he said.

"Brown was my late wife's beloved color, I just thought that if I use her colors it would feel like she's still with me." Tears slowly formed on his eyes but he wouldn't let it fall. Pity hit Jun in the chest, she felt bad for this man for losing someone he loves; a wife. Now she regrets for asking that question, a thought crossed her mind. If brown was his late wife's favorite color, does this mean these clothes I am wearing is hers? Jun gulped in worry, and noticed the man was staring at her. Trying to conceal what she is feeling, she smiled awkwardly at him; sadly the man didn't smiled back. They continued to dig in, the grandfather clock filled the silence between them.
