Chapter 6: Making Fun

After Yuji leaves the principal office, Gojo brings Yuji to the dorm where he will be stalling at.

Yuji's dorm room was modest, adorned only with a simple bed and a small shelf. The bare walls echoed the minimalism that characterized the living spaces of Jujutsu Tech students. Without any study materials in sight.

After making himself at home, Yuji looked around. The dorm room was modest without any fancy stuff. Yuji had thought that either the principal or Gojo would place something to observe him, but it seemed they really trusted him as he didn't find any trace of the energy used by this world.

Gojo leaned against the doorframe and observed Yuji, who was looking around.

"Like the room, huh?" Gojo grinned, a playful glint in his eyes. "Don't worry; it's not the size of the dorm that matters. It's what you do with the space that counts."

Yuji, still taking in the simplicity of his surroundings, nodded. "I guess I'll have to get used to it. But, sensei, what about study materials? Don't I need those?"

Gojo chuckled, "Study materials? Sure, you'll get some eventually. Yuji, you do know that you don't have to fight right now, Me and Megumi can retrieve Sukuna's finger. So why don't you just wait here."

"No," Yuji said without leaving any room for negotiations.

Battlefield is the best source to study the world, and you are telling me to ditch that.

"After what I said to the principal, avoiding fighting makes me look like a liar. So I'll also go with you guys."

"Good," Gojo smiled in response to Yuji's determination. "To be honest, there is no way you're not fighting. If Sukuna's fingers were that easy to find, then we would have found them already. There are some large, overwhelming, powerful fingers, like what you found on the shrine; others just keep quiet, and some are consumed by a cursed spirit."

"It was previously difficult to find Sukuna's finger. Most of it can only be found during Cursed Spirits' attacks, but now it will be easy with you around," Gojo explained.

"In order to find the rest of the curved item, the Sukuna finger consumed will show you the whereabouts of the other fingers. You are both a vessel and a radar, so we'll need you in the field."

Gojo continued, his expression turning serious. "And as a vessel for Sukuna's fingers, your presence attracts Cursed Spirits. They're drawn to the fragments of Sukuna within you so there is no way you can sit here."

After Gojo left the room, Yuji couldn't resist addressing Sukuna, who had been eavesdropping on the conversation.

"So, Sukuna," Yuji started with a mischievous grin, "heard anything interesting about cursed items lately?"

Sukuna, his presence felt within Yuji, scoffed. "Don't get cheeky with me. You're just a vessel, remember?"

"Yeah, yeah, I know. But you're the one with the inside scoop on your precious fingers, right?" Yuji teased, leaning back casually.

Sukuna's tone turned threatening. "Watch your mouth, or I might just decide to make things a bit more interesting for you."

Yuji chuckled, unfazed. "Oh, come on, Sukuna! We're in this together, right? Partners in crime, hunting down your fingers and all that."

Sukuna's response was laced with irritation. "I'm not your partner. I'd happily end you if I could."

Yuji, enjoying the banter, raised an eyebrow. "Oh, really? You seem to forget that I'm the one with the control right now. What would you do without me, stuck in the shadows?"

Sukuna's threat was cold. "Remember your place, immortal fool. One day, I'll be back in control, and you'll regret all this insolence."

Yuji shrugged playfully. "Sure, Sukuna, sure. Until then, let's enjoy the ride. Who knows, we might even find one of your fingers at a fancy dinner party or something."

Sukuna's response was a low growl. "You're pushing your luck, Yuji."

Yuji, undeterred by Sukuna's warnings, continued to push the boundaries of their banter. "Being lucky is what immortality's about."

Sukuna's voice dripped with disdain. "Immortal fool, luck won't save you when I regain control. You may have won in that mind world, but the real battle is yet to come."

Yuji, maintaining his nonchalant demeanour, quipped, "Oh, Sukuna, you sound a bit salty there. Is it because I outsmarted you in your own mind?"

Sukuna's hatred resonated within Yuji's consciousness. "Don't mistake a momentary victory for triumph, immortal soul. When I break free, your arrogance will be your downfall."

Yuji, still grinning, leaned back as if contemplating. "Well, until then, I'll enjoy being the one calling the shots. Maybe I'll even redecorate the mind world a bit."

Sukuna's threat became more explicit. "You can play your games for now, but remember, I'll be the one pulling the strings soon enough. And when that happens, your so-called immortality won't save you."

Yuji chuckled, brushing off Sukuna's intensity. "We'll see about that, Sukuna. Until then, let's keep this partnership entertaining, shall we? I'm sure we'll find those fingers and have a good laugh along the way."

While Yuji was making fun of Sukuna, the door to his room opened, and Megumi walked in.

"Megumi," Yuji called with a wide smile, "You are looking better."

Megumi's gaze remained serious as he approached Yuji. "Thanks, Yuji. We have a mission. We're tasked with recruiting the third first-year student, Nobara Kugisaki. We just need to pick her up from Tokyo."
