17 Ch 17: Utlap Library [Bonus]

"Tell me about the Taming Ground," he demanded.

He doesn't care about their family affairs, it doesn't matter to him whether Toshi kills Reto or they die together.

"Do you want me to use it again?"

"N-No, No, I will tell you, I will tell you," she stammered in response.

"Start speaking," he commanded.

"Recently, our branch discovered a Cursed Womb. We anticipated it evolving into a Grade 1 Cursed Spirit..." she began hesitantly.

"Continue."

"I-I wanted my son to t-tame it, believing it would make him stronger," she confessed.

"Just that?" he questioned.

Seiko nodded, her confusion evident, taming a Grade 1 cursed spirit was a great event, she didn't know why the Patriarch didn't care.

Tenshi fell silent, pondering the situation. While he wasn't particularly interested in Grade 1 Cursed Spirit, he found Seiko's actions challenging his authority.

"I can release you now and allow your son to continue attempting to tame the cursed spirit. But you must promise not to disclose today's events to anyone," he offered.

"Yes! Yes, Patriarch, I will not breathe a word. Thank you for your mercy," she exclaimed gratefully.

"Don't celebrate too soon," he cautioned.

Confused, Seiko waited for clarification.

"Your son will have one month to tame the Cursed Spirit. If he fails, it becomes mine," he declared.

Aware of the challenges posed by Grade 1 Cursed Spirits, Seiko's apprehension grew.

"Furthermore, your questioning of my authority over the clan cannot go unpunished"

"Patriarch mercy"

Unfazed by her pleas for mercy.

"I will confiscate all Grade 1 Cursed Tools belonging to the Utlap clan."

Seiko's desperation escalated as she considered the implications for her branch members.

"How will I explain it to the members of the branch?"

"I don't care," he dismissed her concerns.

With the termination of Heavenly Reading, reality returned, leaving Seiko collapsed on the ground from the ordeal.

"You!" Tenshi's voice cut through the air, demanding her attention.

"What are you waiting for? Show me the way," he said coldly.

~~~
"You can go"
He was already tired of her affairs, now he just wanted to read in peace.
Seiko departed, appearing lifeless as she retreated.
Entering the library, he surveyed its ancient Japanese-style architecture. Skipping over the basics, he delved into more specific topics:
"The Art of Taming"
"Can You Have a Relationship with Cursed Spirits?"
"How to Calm a Vengeful Spirit"
"What Are Cursed Spirits?"
"How a Sorcerer Becomes a Cursed Spirit"
"Rituals from the Heian Era"
Perusing the shelves, he found a wealth of intriguing texts, acknowledging the Utlap branch's impressive library.
Immersing himself in reading, he soon forgot his earlier discontent. The day passed in a blur of knowledge absorption, but eventually, he reluctantly tore himself away to rest and plan.
After all, tomorrow was Shoko's birthday, and he was determined to make her happy.
After all, making her happy means him being happy.
It's just that his 'happy' means something different.
"Hehe,"
He chuckled softly.
Thinking about the things he had planned, he couldn't help but get excited.
"Welcome back, Shoko nee-san," Tenshi greeted as Shoko returned, visibly fatigued.
"Hi, Tenshi," Shoko replied wearily.
"What would you like to eat today?"
"Some chicken would be good,"
Shoko decided after a moment's consideration.
"Fried or curry?"
"Your choice,"
"Then we'll have curry," Tenshi decided, messaging Shadow to go get it.
"Are you free tomorrow?" Tenshi asked.
"Yes, Father will officially retire next week, so I'm free for the whole week, but I need to study some new cursed diseases," Shoko explained.
"The new ones?" Tenshi queried.
"Yeah, they keep popping up now and then," Shoko confirmed.
"By the way, my head was feeling heavy,"
Tenshi mentioned he had been feeling like this for quite some time now.
Shoko turned to look at him.
Someone as powerful as Tenshi, proficient in the Reverse Curse Technique, shouldn't experience such discomfort.
Approaching him, Shoko placed her hand on his head, searching for any signs of disturbance.
"What did you do today?" she inquired.
"I was reading as usual," Tenshi replied, t
After the check, Shoko found nothing amiss.
"Maybe it's because you read too much," she suggested.
"Maybe," Tenshi agreed, unsure of the cause of his discomfort.
"Why are you so interested in it now? I still remember what I had to do to convince you to learn," Shoko remarked.
"It's just a habit, and you didn't do anything excessive," Tenshi retorted.
"Kissing isn't excessive!?" Shoko exclaimed dramatically
"I even forgot how you kissed me. How about we do it again?"
"No, I'm tired,"
He didn't push her further, after all, he was going to have fun tomorrow.
A knock interrupted their conversation.
"It seems the food is here," Tenshi noted.
"Let's eat then," Shoko agreed.
Before retiring for the night, he reviewed the list of Cursed Tools owned by the Utlap branch; it primarily consisted of a large number of katanas.
It would be a treasure for a normal sorcerer but for him, it was nothing, anything below special grade looked bland.
Despite his grandfather's recent request to meet, he declined.
He didn't care if he wanted to meet him to ask for the details or plead on Seiko's behalf.
His men had been monitoring Rika closely throughout the day.
After Shoko's birthday, he decided to meet with her and test the effectiveness of his illusions.
But he couldn't afford for his actions to disrupt the future; having a Loli Rika would serve no purpose otherwise.
Realising that he hadn't ventured beyond the family area all day, he was stunned at how quickly time had passed.
During this period, his bounty had nearly doubled, it may have been due to keeping his abilities secret rather than his strength.
He was confident in his skills, especially as the student of the renowned sorcerer killer, if someone came for him, he would surely die.
Someone told me that he used AI to edit his fanfics, I liked it so I tried using AI to make the English better in this one.
Do you find it better?
