11 Chapter 10- Disappear?

The very same day, when Megumi sparred with Gojo, Yuji was found missing from his room.

Naturally, no one panicked since there was no one concerned in the first place.

As for Nobara, then Megumi told her that he went for some secret training to become stronger. Gojo never forbade him from telling anyone, that's why he didn't hesitate.

"Good for him...he looked quite a bit troubled back then..." Her slow murmuring made Megumi raise his brows, but he didn't continue the topic

He knew Yuji wasn't all fine with the arrangement. He was surely concerned for Megumi yet had to evacuate under Megumi's orders.

The fact that Yuji was taken right away after the mission would help him to be pumped up for the training.

'Now...should I intervene with the canon?' Canonically, Mahito would get in contact with Yuji through a character named Junpei.

Megumi didn't have much care about that guy, but he thought, for a moment, what if he picked that guy out of the question? What if Junpei never gets in contact or maybe does not get deeply influenced by Mahito?

'...it will take away Yuki's development.'

Megumi decided to refrain from interfering and keep a watch on the events transpiring. Naturally, he didn't have Six Eyes like Gojo to surveil Yuji from afar.

'Ah...it would be a hassle...' Megumi inwardly sighed as he stretched in the open field early in the morning.

"Fushiguro...are you going on the mission alone?"

Hearing Nobara's words, Megumi raised his brows before asking, " Why do you ask? "

He remembered that there was a mission he and Nobara might get soon which consisted of exorcising some third-grade cursed spirits.

Nobara—while stretching her arms which made her bust stick out a little—answered nonchalantly,

"I mean, aren't you going to get promoted?"

Megumi didn't glance anywhere other than her face before responding, " There is some gossip about it, but I don't plan on working alone for the time being."

Nobara's movement halted upon hearing that with her eyes slightly stretched.

She couldn't believe her ears as she asked, "I mean, given your mean behavior and mostly annoyed mood, I thought you would like to remain alone on missions. "

Megumi stared at her blankly, before he sighed and continued his stretching.

The reason why he didn't choose to work alone despite having the option was because he didn't want to change the canon events by abandoning Nobara. Who knows what the butterfly effect would cause?

Megumi was saving himself from extra labor by keeping an eye on both main characters at the same time.

He didn't know what came to her mind but Megumi soon experienced a tight slap on his back as Nobara cheerfully said, "Good for you!"

Looking at her distancing back, a strange emotion wells up in his chest but he soon shrugged it off and continued his training.

"Sensei, you called me?" As Megumi walked inside the classroom there stood the sole figure of a man wearing black shades.

The Principal of Tokyo High, Masamichi Yaga, currently had a severe expression on his face as he gestured for Megumi to take the seat.

"Have you heard from Satoru?"

As Megumi settled down he responded in an uncertain tone, "About Zen'in?"

Yaga neither nodded nor declined his hunch. However, there was more to it than the student needed to know,

"It's not just a specific clan who might target you now. Information spreads fast, as such, the danger to your life isn't limited only to Cursed Spirits alone."

Megumi narrowed his eyes before asking, "Does Sensei mean, I can be targeted by some private organization?"

Megumi wasn't as important as Gojo Satoru or the plasma vessel to get targeted by the underworld. Even if he gets a sudden promotion, doesn't mean he would suddenly break the balance or something.

Most likely, the Zen'in clan would try recruiting and brainwashing him.

However, Yaga had a different opinion. The higher-ups were getting a little too active about this matter for some reason. Possibly because he possessed the Ten Shadow Technique and was the only counter against Gojo Satoru.

Regardless, Yaga continued,

"For the time being, don't take any missions and stay within the school. The Kyoto-sister goodwill event will most likely be a test for your grade promotion. So until then, be a little passive if you may."

Yaga's words made Megumi raise his brows as he asked, "Won't this make things easier for Higher-ups? Like within the school, they can easily summon me anytime and make me do things that I might reject. And that would lead to needless friction, no? "

It wasn't that Yaga hadn't thought of such a matter before, however, he didn't have any idea how to counter that.

Even if Megumi was sent to regular missions one order from that geezer would force Yaga to put a break on the spree and present Megumi before them. And also, keeping Megumi outside for too long, mostly when Gojo wasn't around, seemed an unwise choice.

"Can I suggest something?" Sensing Yaga's dilemma, Megumi asked in an uncertain tone.

Yaga nodded.

"I know it will sound ridiculous but...what if I just disappear for a few weeks? And just before the event, I showed myself."

Yaga frowned, "How would that be beneficial?"

Megumi sighed before responding, "After the goodwill event, I am sure none of the higher-ups would try forcing me to do anything."

Yaga was taken aback by that statement before he couldn't help asking, "What grade are you even looking for, for your promotion?"

Megumi didn't say anything to that. Naturally, he was going to become a Special Grade and carry out his missions alone after the event. And after giving a devastating performance during the event would instill some fear in the minds of those, who wish to use Megumi for their own benefit.

Yaga remained silent before he finally parted his lips and declared his response,

"Not accepted!"

Megumi was evidently speechless hearing the reply before he saw Yaga walking out of the room...only after leaving some words behind,

"Your next assignment might have to change after all..."

Megumi smiled at that. If the foe is stronger, he would get more leeway to make his disappearance look real.

A/N:- Megumi needs to remain away from the school so he can watch over Yuji and also prepare himself for the events to come. Well, it's canon divergent since it's fanfic. If I don't add anything new it will get boring in between events.

I will do a poll for a romantic partner for Megumi. Stay tuned.
