Joy and Sorrow

Ada and Ophelia are two young teenagers surrounded by depression and apathy on opposite sides of the world. Through coincidence, they both stand above a bridge prepared to jump at the exact same moment. However in what would be their final moments, a gigantic earthquake shakes the world, knocking them towards the ground. But instead of death, they awake to find strange crystals piercing through them. Rather than fear or confusion or shock, they each feel two overwhelming emotions: joy and sadness. Unknown to them, the crystals have the ability to manipulate the emotions of those around them, alongside bestowing magical abilities and equipment to their wielders. But why have these crystals appeared? Are there more of them? And most importantly, how do Ada and Ophelia feel about this?
