55 The Late Night Visitor

Xiang Ling made her way toward her bedchamber once she was done drinking the herbal tea that she had Fu Xiao prepare for her. It was quite late and she felt emotionally drained after what happened during dinner.

Nothing prepared her for the unexpected events that unfolded in the dining hall, nor was she prepared for the new version of Dao Ming. Just one night and the man, who hadn't spoken to her since the first time they met, had decided to stick to her.

As she reached her bedchamber, she realized that the girls seemed to have forgotten to light up the lanterns as the chamber was filled with darkness. Stepping inside, she closed the door behind her. While using her enhanced eyesight, she made her way to light the candles that were placed all around the chamber. She was halfway through the room when she felt the shift in the air and her ears picked up the movements of whoever was hiding in the darkness of the room.
