49 Bathing Together

The wolf stared at the woman as if the latter had grown two heads all of a sudden. No mortal or immortal had left it this stunned ever before with their words.

Xiang Ling waited for some sort of response from the wolf but got nothing except a blank stare. "Are you coming?" She asked when the wolf didn't move from its place even after certain long moments had passed.

The wolf kept staring at her for a few more seconds before it finally stood up and walked toward Xiang Ling. Realizing that it had finally agreed to take a bath, Xiang Ling directed it toward the inner room where she had prepared water for its bath.

"Here, let me help in getting rid of all this blood and dirt from-"

Xiang Ling trailed off in mid-sentence as she watched with shocked eyes as the wolf jumped into the tub and settled down in the warm water. Its fur was drenched in water as it got rid of all the dried blood and dirt from its body.
