Journey: The Destructive Incarnate

In the Stellar sea of stars, a giant tree stood, rivers made of countless white streaks flowed throughout its giant body travelling toward its root. Those rivers were made of souls going through the process of rebirth, but among those countless rivers, a certain stream travelled directly toward the stem of the tree. In that specific river, a soul flowed like every other; nothing special about it would have remained as such. Suddenly the space it inhabited collapsed as a brilliant golden glow travelled out of that distorted space. The soul unable to escape got showered by that golden glow, its spiritual body absorbing it. Unable to handle the magnitude of the power contained in the golden light, the soul started to tear up. But somehow it managed to absorb it all, but it came at a cost, as the single soul split into two, one being thrown out of that river. Passing through another river, it made its way toward the root, whereas the other part continued on its way. A soul who got the body to handle the power of the golden glow after rebirth but didn't have it, and a body that had the power but couldn't handle it was created. But fate works in mysterious ways as after the death of one body, the soul finally reunited making someone whole. Neo was the part that got the power but couldn't handle it, this gave him a fate worse than death. He couldn't use mana, in a world filled with mana and where the strong ruled. But his family didn't give up on him or shun him, so to help them even if a little he chose the path of a scholar. Knowing that he had the talent to be a mage but couldn't use mana always ate away his heart. Then on the fateful day when he was four, the soul finally reunited, becoming one. Ch.7 Sir Vayu

"Thank you."

I reply as I smile at him, he has short blue hair and is wearing a silverish-golden armor with the crest of the duchy in it. With glowing green eyes, he looked quite handsome, and being the knight commander of the duchy his strength is by no means a joke.

"Looking at you, It seems you want to train."

He asked me as he appraised my looks and looked at the short sword in my hand, nodding his head he looked at me waiting for my reply.

"Yes, would you mind teaching me for a while?"

I replied to his question as I asked for his teachings, after all as a sword instructor he is the best one in the duchy and is also one of the greatest in the entire empire.

"Haha, of course, I won't mind teaching you. So at first let's check your current level."

He said as he gave a big laugh and moved toward the center of the ground, sister had already moved away from there as she was sitting on the bench near the ground looking at us.

As he reached the middle of the ground he pointed his sword at me and gestured for me to get ready, nodding at that I stood opposite to him as I also pointed my sword at him.

He stood there waiting for me to attack and I didn't disappoint him as I charged at him, imitating what I saw the knights doing I attacked him with a diagonal slash with full force.

But as expected my attack was easily parried as he didn't even move from his spot, signaling me to attack again, I did.

Again, parried, Again, Parried, this situation continued for a while until he gestured for me to stop, stopping the attack I caught my breath as I looked at him.

"Hmm, now then try to block my attack."

He said as he didn't give me a chance to wait and attacked me, but since he was holding back to my level I was still able to see his movement.

Coping what he did when he parried me, I tried to block his attack and at first it seemed like I succeeded but that was just wishful thinking as with a simple motion of his sword he canceled my parry and his sword reached my neck.

Before his sword could hurt me it stopped as he pulled back the sword putting it back in its sheath.

I fall to the ground on my butt as I catch my breath and try to comprehend what happened, closing my eyes and looking back at everything I did, I finally understand the mistakes I made.

Although I had seen how the knights handled their swords I had never tried it before, after all just knowing about something doesn't mean that you have mastered it.

My attack was simply too sloppy in comparison to theirs and my body isn't used to fighting, though these problems can be solved with time and enough practice.

"Looking at your face it seems you have understood your mistake."

Sir Vayu says as he looks at me with a smile on his face, hearing his words I nod and stand up on the ground.

"Yes, my attacks were simply too sloppy and crude."

I reply as I dust off my clothes, picking back up the fallen sword again I look at him.

"So, you wouldn't mind taking me as your student would you."

I ask as I give him an eager face, hearing my question he nods his head and gives a reply with a big smile.

"Of course, I would take you as my student, after all, how can I let such a talented seedling as you go to waste."

"Good.Hmm"

As I reply a sudden thought comes to my mind a sly smile comes to my face, looking at Sir Vayu's face which looks worried I know he must have understood the meaning of this smile. After all, be as may sick as I was I was still considered...well...a troll.

"Thank you, teacher, and as your student, I will even help you hook up with Agni."

I say in a loud voice as I put my hands on my heart as if making a vow, the cool and collected face of Sir Vayu breaks as a red blush covers him and he quickly shuts my mouth with his hand not letting me talk further.

"Shh, what are you talking about Neo."

He asks me in a hushed tone, trying to get back his composer again but his face and eyes betray him.

"Oh, sorry then, I thought you liked Agni so I wanted to get you together, but if you don't want to I can find someone else for Agni as she did say she wanted to get married."

I reply as I give him an innocent look, under normal conditions he wouldn't have believed my innocent look but due to the bomb, though it may be fake his mind is in shambles now.

"Reallyyyyyyy"

He shouts as I can feel excitement in his voice, after all this can be considered a chance for him, as the ever so cold Agni is looking for a husband and him being a good friend with her has a chance.

"No" I reply as my face turns back to normal.

And that seems to have done it as all the happiness and excitement in his face disappears and is instead replaced by embracement and anger.

Seeing this I know that if I let the situation be, he my new teacher will train me till I wish I was dead. And although I like the prospect of training to get stronger I am no masochist.

"Looking at your face I can safely say that you like Agni, don't you."

I ask again and he stops what he is going to say and looks at me unable to give a reply to my question.

"Well, if you don't like her, I can fi....."

Before I can continue my words he stops me as he looks deep into my eyes, and as if about to reveal a great secret with nobody except him knows he takes a deep breath and opens his mouth.

"Ok, ok I love her. Now are you happy to hear that?"

He replies in an embarrassed tone, but being a trained knight he is, he doesn't stumble with his words. Now, with that second half of my plan to get those together has been completed now only three more steps to go.

"So, why don't you confess to her."

"Well,.."

He isn't able to reply as he rubs his head.

"Do, tell me I may be able to help you."

I encourage him and try to strengthen his resolve.

"You really have a big interest in other people's love life, don't you? You know if you continue like this you may have a very chaotic love life."

He questions me and also warns me, well he isn't wrong as the karma I am collecting from this may come to bite me back in my ass in the future.

"Don't worry about that I will be able to easily handle it. After all, what's the worst thing that can happen."

I replied to his question and I gave him a big smile, hearing my reply he just sighed and didn't continue with the topic anymore.

"Well back to your question, I don't confess to her because I fear her rejection."

He gives me a simple and clear answer that will clear away the doubt of anyone.

"Why, after all the worst thing she can say is No."

"Huh!, are you really the Neo I know or you have been changed."

He asks me as he grabs both of my shoulders with his hands and shakes my entire body.

"I am obviously Neo, otherwise who can I be, so can you please stop shaking me."

I reply to his weird question as I plead with him to stop.

"If you are the Neo I know, then how can you be so stupid, Think Neo, think knowing Agni do you think her reply to a confession will just be a "no"."

Hearing his words I remember the personality of Agni, thinking about it if someone else than the one she likes confesses I don't feel like that person will make it out of it unscathed. Well, they won't be damaged physically but mentally, after all, she can be quite scary.

"Do you even know Neo, when we were younger a prince from one of the various countries in the central continent confessed to her. And due to her reply to his confession, he was mentally scarred and developed a fear of women."

He continued with his words as he recounted an event of the past that I heard for the first time, well hearing that I could understand his fear.

"Well, that would happen if she doesn't love you."

I reply to his question looking straight into his face.

"What are you trying to say that she loves me."

He scoffs at my reply thinking that it was a joke and an attempt from me to embarrass him.

But I wasn't the one to give up as hearing his question I made a serious face and nodded my head, seeing this he froze as he knows I only make serious faces for important reasons.

A red blush covers his face as he looks at me questioningly as if waiting for me to say it was a joke, but it wasn't a joke in any way as I was very serious. After all, I had made a promise and even though I may fool around once in a while I take my promises very seriously.

"Re-Really."

He asks as his voice breaks for the first time, well the first time I have heard his voice break.

"Yes"

I reply giving the proof that I wasn't joking anymore and that was the last straw I can see the light fade away from his eyes as he fell down to the ground leaving me speechless there, staring blankly at his fallen figure.
